near50ohoh: sensuality has it's own path and buddha agreed. insight into the human condition can't come without connecting to our primal self, our "beast". don't discount it's importance. without it we would literally die. i have chronic health issues and by retraining my thinking and direction from pain reduction (or numbing) to pleasure seeking (or sensuality) i greatly reduced my pain and fatigue. without meds too which were also killing me.

Intolerance: It's not the way you want it to be because:
others are against you, if indeed we make the world from our thoughts and desires (law of karma not that "the Secret" crap) then indeed people around you have different ideas about reality then you. So remember everyone around you, including your best friend obi-wan-kenobi are now your enemies. Do waht must be done, do not hesitate and show no mercy.

Intolerance: Post statement, I mean to say: Why ask people here? Go to a library and read the classics like aristole or plato and buddha, and vedas and stuff, and try to find the awnser yourself.

BUT, a big but at that, much as we like to believe that humanity has somehow evolved, we are still beasts, predators.so no matter how at peace or zen you are, the fact is that's who you deal with every time you walk out your door.never forget that!!

ghostgeek: Why should the world be the way you think it should be? It has six billion people walking all over it. Most of them are going to see things very differently to you. Nobody listens to the lone voice.

near50ohoh: really? how about gandhi? one voice ppl listened to. fairly recently too. in peace he walked and in peace he died.

Intolerance: He was also killed, stand out too much and a crazy will get you.

Intolerance: True he'll be remembered, but most of us will hardly get a glance. A few really nerdy people will want to know what the average person in 2013 lived like for maybe 10 minutes in his entire life, and thats the only time, as a whole, well be remember.

Intolerance: Go digital then, well hopefully still have a internet or whatever they call it in the future.

ghostgeek: Some people are able to tap into the zeitgeist, the spirit of the age. Hitler did that and so did Gandhi. They say what people want to hear and change the world, maybe. We remember some of them because they are so few in number. The rest of us? We pass through life with barely a ripple left behind. Go into a second hand bookshop and look at all the dusty tomes for sale. How many authors do you recognize?

near50ohoh: i'd recognize more in the classical section than the pop for sure. but they have that sense of ppl you are talking about .the time, dynamics etc that make up the zeitgeist

ghostgeek: When I was at university studying economics they had bound copies of Economica, a magazine, going right back to the 1920s if not before. As a student you would be directed to a few seminal articals. Those pages were falling out. Everything else between those covers was pristine. All those articles, all those words, all that thought, had been totally forgotten. It made me realise how insignificant most people are.
