Weird science and almost everything else about science.

GeraldtheGnome: This forum is about weird science that's not on this site, science in general and it's about the science forums on this site.

For a start 'Most atheists don't know about know about science' is a false claim unless it can be proven. Even if you just have it about those that are not religious then most of them know about science. If you broaden it to that of someone that does not believe in at least one god or goddess, which includes all living Humans, then most of them know about science. So it is a false claim.

So how did the forum start ? Well you can see how below this sentence.

Topic: Science

What was it like halfway through where it currently is ? Well you can see what it is like at that time just below this sentence.

Topic: Science/283

What is it currently like ? Well you can tell what it is like below this sentence unless someone just went on at the time I typed all of this.

Topic: Science/567

Okay, I don't know what went wrong there since they all went to the first screen, just correct the last few numbers to 283 or to 587 to see what I mean. It got stuffed up big time, damn it !

ParallaxMan: When mammals first evolved, they were female. It wasn’t until 180 million years ago that men evolved from women when the y chromosome began to differ from the x.

Know your place, gentlemen. Our closest common ancestor was female.

GeraldtheGnome: How can you even prove that ? Unless you can prove that or show that it is possibly true then I have to put it down as confirmation bias with a religious like belief of what is falsely believed to be true.

ParallaxMan: The study shows that the same sex-determining gene, named SRY, in placentals and marsupials had formed in the common ancestor of both lineages around 180 million years ago. Another gene, AMHY, is responsible for the emergence of Y chromosomes in monotremes and appeared some 175 million years ago. Both genes, which according to Henrik Kaessmann are "involved in testicular development ," have thus emerged " nearly at the same time but in a totally independent way ."

The nature of the sex-determination system present in the common ancestor of all mammals remains unclear, given that mammalian Y chromosomes did not yet exist at that time -- at least not those discovered in this study. So what triggered back then that an individual was born male or female? Was this determination linked to other sex chromosomes, or even environmental factors such as the temperature? The latter is not an unreasonable scenario, given that temperature determines sex in present-day crocodiles. As far as mammals are concerned, "the question remains open ," concludes Diego Cortez.

GeraldtheGnome: Okay, I don't even know why anyone would even think that any of that is certainly true, I might have overlooked something. It's possible, I very much doubt that it is true though. There were too many hyphens in that, too many commas and some other things that I did not like too. The genes mentioned, it would be better if the full names of the genes were used for a start.

Away from that there's the contradictory Bob/Blackshoes, the fake creationist who unknowingly supports things about evolution partially. He is for small scaled evolution but is not for large scaled evolution and he contradicts himself with the forum about how evolution is a form of science and how it is also not a form of science at the same time. How can anything about evolution by both at the same time ? It's impossible.

That's Bob's contradictory forum anyway.
