Alternative Energy Sources (Page 5)

kittybobo34: No, Lithium batteries, but with a new substrate that doesn't weigh as much nor is it suceptable to exploding, thus allowing more lithium so stronger battery..

kittybobo34: Haven't heard of batteries made from Graphine, sounds interesting.

Thorium reactors could be a power source for the future too,, No threat of weapons use, thorium can be used and reprocessed , no danger of melt downs.

Wave energy could be harnessed,

Iceland has done miracles with their geothermal use. Not only do they generate power but the hot water goes to all the homes, and green houses. We could do this in Wyoming, Hawaii, and in Alaska.

kittybobo34: Nuclear power is the way to go in the future. There are ways to resolve all the major issues, but there are vested interests in keeping it down. Doing it the right way would end coal and oil as our major power source.

kittybobo34: Fog,, thats just it, Nuclear based on Thorium has no threat of meltdown or weapons use, its not as powerful a source of fuel, and the country has allot of it. We used Thorium reactors on spacecraft and on the moon because they can be made out of their own fuel to save weight, and don't cause much of a problem if the rocket crashes on launch.

JohnSmith1961: the reason why i like that Nuke in the sky is because you don't have to bury anything for who knows how long.

kittybobo34: A simple solution for burial would be to put the highly radioactive stuff into a steel pointy cylinder and drop it in the ocean near one of the subduction zones. It would get sucked deep into the earth and sink until it reached its equivalent mass.

kittybobo34: Obviously not all zones would be right, but some would take millions of years to for an object to make that transit, secondly the heavy material in the cask would likely go down instead of back up.

kittybobo34: John, Fusion is the answer? We can't make it work. Someone needs to invent force fields to make this work. Room temperature super conductors would be a big help too.

kittybobo34: Yeah accept that doesn't work, they can't even get more energy out than they have to put in, to contain, and ignite the plasma.
