You 'sky is falling' pessimists are going overboard. All the carbon on earth is designed to be in this environment--we aren't adding any new carbon--we're just transforming it. Yeah it will create some minor changes--but it will probably help us last longer when the next big freeze occurs--which by some theories won't be long (maybe 500 yrs or less).

kittybobo34: Burning oil and coal is adding carbon to the environment. That stuff was buried deep underground and out of the cycle of life. Right now 50% of the carbon in the air is from coal/oil. It's a slightly different isotope than regular environmental carbon.

ghostgeek: I hear Yellowstone is a super volcano that is overdue to go "pop". That would correct the carbon imbalance.

Of course, I suppose we could also create a geosync space cloud, but we'd have to be able to remove it if earth temps started to become too cold as the sun's output fluctuates.
