TheismIsUntenable: The study mentions that as well. This is more about exploring why religious people as a demographic tend to be dumber than their irreligious peers. Is it correlation or causation? Does religion appeal to dumber people? Does religion cause people to stop thinking? Or is this just an unfortunate coincidence? Intuitive thought seems to be a primary driver of religious thought, rather than analytical thinking which is more rigid such as applying logical reasoning. Expertise and intelligence is not always, and often doesn't, translate beyond scopes of familiarity and study.
