Evolution is racist!!!!! (Page 16) BlueShirt1: "Truth exists regardless of its effects." - Adam The problem here, Adam, in the case of natural selection (aka "survival of the fittest" ) is that it is indeed a truth, but a truth devoid of empirical content. It is true in exactly the same sense that "Tough guys are tough" is true. To ascertain its truth requires no field studies; no empirical investigation. (Edited by BlueShirt1) BlueShirt1: By the way, Adam, I've enjoyed your comments. You strike me as an intelligent man. So rare here BlueShirt1: And that's exactly analogous to saying the Bible or the Quran has never been the source of any suffering. Adam Southworth: "Just as Nature concentrates its greatest attention, not to the maintenance of what already exists but on the selective breeding of offspring in order to carry on the species, so in human life also it is less a matter of artificially improving the existing generation - which, owing to human characteristics, is impossible in ninety-nine cases out of a hundred - and more a matter of securing from the very start a better road for future development." - Adolf Hitler: Mein Kampf (Edited by Adam Southworth) Blackshoes: Adam Southworth, Please explain exactly what Hilter just said? It makes; almost no sense outside of his wish to control an outcome? Adam Southworth: In essence, Hitler wants to harness natural selection to breed a higher race. I concede this is not explicit in the passage, but it is what he means. He talks a lot about evolution and eugenics in Mein Kampf. Hitler accords with Darwin on a number of issues, including his belief in a universal conflict and struggle for existence between higher and lower races, which is furthered by a high birth rate and the inevitable conflict for scarce resources. I don't claim Darwinian evolution necessarily leads to Hitler, but it does influence Hitler's ideology. For Hitler, Darwin's "Preservation of Favoured Races in The struggle for life" is the mechanism which generates higher races/species. (Edited by Adam Southworth) Blackshoes: Interesting, it's only one perception or opinion', on how much Darwinism influences ignorance, human rights, and the pursuit of evil. Of course, I'm of the opinion that religious beliefs in Naturalism and Humanism often promote sin. Adam Southworth: Bernard Henri Levi said that the problem with Nazism and Communism is that they are religions of this world. They attempt to find meaning in material existence. I find this critique of hard nationalism quite hypocritical. After all, Levi himself is an atheist who takes conspicuous pride in his Jewish identity and supports foreign wars on Israel's behalf. Hitler claims that a race or people has a spiritual dimension - an irreducible character or soul. He even claims that the loss of transcendent values which attend higher races was part of the problem with Germany. Still, you could argue these were auxiliary concerns, that the main engine of Nazism was "blood and soil", not the human soul or human works. (Edited by Adam Southworth) kittybobo34: Well Religion is declining in most of the world, except the Muslim nations. They seem to be as maniacal as ever. Blackshoes: The following does seem to be the case "This seems to be a pattern of human history: the death of the Gods/higher ideals coincides with the decline of civilizations." kittybobo34: These are challenging times for civilization, global warming, is making worse storms, more crop failures, higher prices driving refugees across borders, failing governments, war in general. When the ocean starts going up things will get bad fast.
