Now, whaddya say we lock these Creationists up in a padded cell and laugh at them?

zeffur: Beav.. Sorry you find yourself in such a situation. I suggest you encourage your child to be the biological gender that s/he is rather than letting (tolerating) such fanciful attention-getting behaviors blossom into pointless odd behaviors that could last a lifetime.

The following is what can happen when parents don't do their job properly or when society doesn't discourage or psychologically treat such behaviors or worse yet, gives it an audience & tolerance under the guise of 'compassion'. Psychological therapy is in order for all such conditions, imo.

zeffur: Proper mental treatment is compassionate treatment.
People should not encourage mental illness & pretend they are being 'compassionate'--they aren't--they are actually being cruel to people who desperately need genuine psychological help.

I raised all 3 of my girls the same, 2 are girly girls, one is trans, she didnt just wake up one day and decide to be that way, she agonised over it for years, she is now 25 and after many psychological/psychiatric evaluations they have agreed with her. She is now on male hormones, I don't understand it, but I won't demean her existence by treating her as if she has made a mistake, she has my fulll support as she is my child...It's called unconditional parental love..... It's what we do, goes with the job.

kittybobo34: This is a common biological error in all animals, especially mammals. In gestation the body follows the pattern laid out by the hormones into male or female, but the Brain is developed last ,and if the hormones are not right at this point the Brain follows a different path in its development.

zeffur: Beav,

There was a time when some females (who didn't want to be girly girls) grew up in a manner that people described as tomboys. Many of them married, had families, & lived perfectly normal lives. There's nothing wrong with not being dainty or wanting to be overly concerned with one's hair, makeup, nails, clothing, & seeking attention from males that some females preoccupy themselves with.

There are others who do in fact have genuine hormone & development problems such as kitty described above (e.g. hermaphrodites)--no one sane would deny them the right to choose hormone therapy &/ surgical options in those rare circumstances & live their lives as a certain sex.

From what you've written it seems that you did all that you could do to ensure your daughter received all the treatment & other options available to her. She chose the path that she chose & she has that right as an adult.

That ^^ is quite different than a 52 yo father of 7 who pretends he's a 6 year old girl (to escape the challenges of adulthood or to seek attention by being odd)--and most of the other nutjobs today who are seeking attention by playing the new 'gender identity' game--when they have no genuine hormonal abnormalities--and when they are clearly & obviously a certain biological sex (e.g. Bruce Jenner).

Nicotina: Dear zeff, surely it is better to love thy neighbour than make judgments about their very being. If you believe in god as you claim to, that god will know the hearts and actions of others. It is easy to see others as “deformed” and ourselves as “normal” but we do not know

It doesn't take a genius to understand what normal & abnormal are. You can pretend that you don't know all you want--it doesn't change the facts. To be honest with someone about her/his mental health problem & to encourage her/him to seek mental health treatment for her/his benefit is an expression of love--pretending such a person doesn't have mental illness & participating in her/his delusion in the guise of 'compassion' is not genuine love--at best it is foolishness and at worst it is cruelty.

Or, perhaps you should look into the differences to educate yourself & stop pretending you have anything but feeble psychological ploys that can make a difference in a chat forum.

zeffur: Which is worse for a person's dignity:

A. Being homosexual & getting reassignment surgery & hormone therapy for the rest of your life because you deluded yourself that if you just changed physically it would make a difference psychologically--then later realizing it didn't & so you decide to kill yourself.

B. "A." + the feigned acceptance of some normal people to support your delusions.

C: People being honest with you about your mental health issues & encouraging you to get mental help. You may not like it--but you know it is true (in all but the most delusional cases). You function as a responsible adult by getting the psychological help that you need, you learn what biological sex actually is & you finally accept reality over your prior ignorance &/ delusion, you learn how to live as the gender that you truly are in a normal & natural way, & you realize in doing so that people see you as normal & not abnormal anymore.
