Creationism is a mental illness (Page 3) Geoff: Um... NO. Blackshoes, sorry, but your argument is circular. God exists because of nature, and nature exists because of God. What you are saying is "I don't know how DNA and RNA can come about without a creator", thankfully there are scientists who also don't know, but they have the intelligence and desire to find out. BAD_WOLF__: See the thing is intelligent design is an evolutionary process based on the chemical make up of random things... The universe can be summed up as one random event leading to a process of cause and effect......... Or you know, some magic dude with a beard in the clouds. Geoff: Lori, I refuse to countenance a website that, like Blackshoes, fails to differentiate between evolution and abiogenesis. You can cherry pick from someone's writing to claim that they held a particular belief, but it's more telling that evolution forms the very basis of modern biology, and its understanding is what has lead medicine to develop such successful treatments for many ailments; especially cancer. BAD_WOLF__: Fuck it, I'm a creationist now. The universe was made in the mind of Tolkien and the Maiar watch over the chosen children of Arda Geoff: No. That's not how it happened. Gradual development of wings, where each generation increment had an increasingly beneficial effect to the odds of the individual surviving to successfully breed is how wings evolved. Not because they needed them. They just happened to start with a body which was appropriate for that. Sorry if you misunderstood something I previously said, presumably I was dumbing down enough to try to get you to understand. I think that's obviously a waste of time and I shall return to my default state of ignoring you. Blackshoes: Oh really Geoff ', Prove that Abiogenesis is not the beginning of all life from a evolutionary perspective ! (Edited by Blackshoes) BAD_WOLF__: You cant be serious... Is she serious? You cant be serious. I cant believe you're serious. Geoff: Evolution is about the diversity of life on this planet and how it came about from simpler origins. Abiogenesis is a hypothesis of how life started on this planet in the first place. While we don't KNOW how it actually happened, there's a fair few good ideas which are entirely plausible. That this has to be explained to you again demonstrates something. Either your utter refusal to get anything into your fat head, or the fact that you're too stupid to actually understand the science. Either way, I consider whatever it is you have to be a mental disorder. lori100: please show evidence of your mind and existence Geoff...physical evidence since you don't believe in the non-physical verified by scientists... Geoff: No, Jurassic Park is not a scientific documentary. One could not recover the DNA of a dinosaur from a mosquito trapped in amber. One could, with technology not too far advanced from what we have now, successfully get something that was very much like a dinosaur from the common chicken. I did not say that they "needed" wings, and if I used that word it was for simplicity. There is no teleology in evolution. Adaptation happens because at each stage there is a sufficient benefit to the individual to swing the balance of the population. Geoff: Well, Lori, since I don't give a flying fuck what you think, I think I will be happy that the people I like are convinced of my existence. BAD_WOLF__: Of course it`s not a documentary but it`s a good place for the uninformed religious nuts to start. Geoff: Whether that adaptation allows the individual to breed successfully and how many offspring they have. Since you're rejecting evolution, and this is the basic elements of it, I would have thought you'd know this. Instead you just see evolution as "Main stream science and those scientists are all atheists, so it must be anti-God" or anti-aliens who are my baby-daddy or whatever screwed up BS you believe, and reject it without actually understanding it. lori100: ...sounds like an intelligent choice to go one route or the other...as if an improved model is always the goal...why would that be?...and lots of scientists believe in God... | Science Chat Room 3 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
