Creationism is a mental illness (Page 12)

fh24: Yes, Hitler had US Banks invested in his industry, as well as the Vatican & the whole Catholic church supporting him with his ideology ... BUT
No, Einstein was not religious - him working on a formula to prove the existence of some god is the kind of BS myth you hear among religious morons quite frequently - ahahaha

Geoff: Since there is no objective evidence for the existence of god (any god, not just the Abrahamic one), or of Jesus, or of any sort of spirit (with the exception of the use of the term for flammable liquids) the burden of proof lies with you, stevemako28, to prove your assertion.

That's not quite right fh24.

I have seen Spirits. But that does not prove of any God.

Your post could be turned around and reconstructed and put into the negative.

Petergent: Religious faith is a complicated issue, Kitty. I consider myself Christian. Can I justify my faith? Defend it? Prove It? Even explain it? No. Further complicating the issue - I believe in Science. I fully believe in Darwin's theoretical model of evolution as is used to explain speciation. Does this make me a hypocrite? Perhaps. My mind is open to many possibilities.

However, I can prove the existence of heaven. I am there any time I indulge in a hot fudge sundae! Refute that, all you unbelievers.

fh24: kitty - people feel it's ok to believe what ever they like - just go & pick your ideas. they rarely even ask them selves, what constitutes a rational thought.

Peter seems to belief in Science as if it was just another religion he kinda likes but never quite discovered the difference in quality of mind required to formulate a sound scientific argument which clearly draws a line between irrational wishful dream world ideas where anything seems to be possible and a clear understanding of the rational world where natural laws impose observable limits on reality so dogs can't mate with cats or virgins can't have babies called jc .. .

Is it possible Peter will amuse us with a short comment about the message he received from jc he discovered under the hot fudge enjoying his sunday next time? - lol

Petergent: fh24, you demonstrate the worst sort of arrogance and ignorance combined. You dare presume to know how and why one thinks or believes. You use caustic, sarcastic verbiage in a pathetic attempt to sound intellectual and intelligent. You are neither. Irrational wishful dream? Look in the mirror when you carry on with your incessant babble.

I spoke to Kitty with respect, fully aware she may disagree with my views. I don't mind someone disagreeing with me. I will listen with an open mind to one's contrary views. You, however, have nothing.

fh24: ahahahah - you are in desperate pain, are you?

Is it your brain that's hurting or your ego as well for trying to make your limited intellect look funny when it's more of a sad story not having advanced it much over the years?

Why are you so unwilling to learn from your own screw ball ideas? Just show some mental & emotional desire to be less stagnant with your mental abilities & put your absurd attachment to your religious past behind you - once & for all ?

I have seen several reasonable, respectful arguments posted on this forum. Pity fh24 lacks the intellect or maturity to respond in kind. I'm through here.

kittybobo34: Now boys, behave...This is a subject that gets people riled up for sure, but we are representatives of the most intelligent species on the planet. Like I said before, this is something that is deep seated in our species, perhaps it's how our brains are wired... like common visual puzzles that trick our perceptions.
I think our species would never have advanced at all without religion. It places an imaginary alpha male at the head of our civilization, unifying our common morality, giving us the ability to form larger and larger nation states.
At the same time, some of us are ready to throw off the crutches or religion and stand on our own, to see the universe as it really is.

Evelyn99: Mental illness is defined when your thought process and social skills are so deprived that you no longer can hold a job keep important human relations often it will follow a substance abuse and isolation. So by meaning something irrational isn’t enough kinda like religion just as irrational but you are not about to get all your rights taken away from you and be forced to medication that makes you worse than lobotomy

kittybobo34: changing the subject, was talking to a guy that had visited the Replica Ark in Kentucky. Built to spec. and very impressive I hear.(at $50.00 bucks a pop it better be) I was wondering if any engineers had checked its actual sea worthyness out. I know the Chinese had built the largest wooden ships in the world back in the 900-1200AD about 4 times larger than the biggest English Galleons. Has anyone seen this Ark?

hornchurchmale: always an emotive subject .though religion is possibly second after disease at. killing people whom dont agree with its teachings etc
a famous philosopher said "given the child anti age nine and I will give you the man". in essence saying a child WILL absorb its teachings and surroundings and at around age 9 this tends to stick as a permanent thing. So if taught black is grey ? or theres fairies at end of a rainbow.. that. will be a belief thats hard to shift! recent thought on cavemen etc shows they were aware of life, death and thought there was 'something' that HAD to be responsible for EVERYTHING. thus a 'god' is a naturally occurring theme and understandably a steely were unaware what created storms .rain. etc .
the real issue possibly is when. an educated person ignores logic.science and reason to thrust concept of a diety all powerful on others. often going to extreme lengths to justify the arguments they want to prevail ( a GOD) .
if we look at well know issue where a man firebombed a nightclub ( killing many) he was caught .examined in detail and found he was in denial about his own sexuality ( homosexual) and he was trying to over compensate at the abhorrent thought a she was a man of 'god'.
ergo its often easy to see same when religion is 'pushed 'heavily ..its more often than not by a person lacking real 'faith'.

kittybobo34: Not much in the faith department myself. After really looking allot of different religions (in my teens), I gave up at the inconsistencies. I found much more solace in the approach of science, the step by step proving of the realities of our world, both in psychology and in the physical sciences.
