It is cold here and the wind storm just crossing the Republic has reached the eastern side too and is making it feel colder. But it seems the ocean is going to keep us warmer here in the UK. It could be that these warm winds from Africa will save Europe from the Mini Ice Age that North America and Russia are likely to experience if the Solar Minimum does not "heat up" by next year! But things change and it is equally likely that something else will happen! duncan124: As the Polar Vortex reforms, you can see what looks like the cause of the violent jet stream across the northwestern Atlantic as the high winds reach down almost to the equator and then are unable to return north against the current. As this high wind breaks off the Polar Vortex shrinks to a small circle presumably leaving the volatile air to join with a lower Jet stream. The Bombogenesis happened before the PV shrunk and seems to indicate the PV is still well connected to events in the lower air.
