Mini Ice Age? (Page 23)

Unusual weather continues perhaps into November with warm weather predicted in Italy after rain clouds in the north of Europe.

" Intense Foehn effect to push temperatures in northwest Italy above 25 °C tomorrow – October 24, 2018By SWE | Mesoscale Discussion | 23 October 2018
The intense northerly wind across the Alps, associated with the first cold outbreak, will cause intense Foehn effect across northwestern Italy tonight and tomorrow. It will significantly raise temperatures, up to and locally over 26 °C tomorrow." SWE

A föhn or foehn is a type of dry, warm, down-slope wind that occurs in the lee (downwind side) of a mountain range.

"Föhn can be initiated when deep low pressures move into Europe drawing moist Mediterranean air over the Alps.
It is a rain shadow wind that results from the subsequent adiabatic warming of air that has dropped most of its moisture on windward slopes (see orographic lift). As a consequence of the different adiabatic lapse rates of moist and dry air, the air on the leeward slopes becomes warmer than equivalent elevations on the windward slopes. Föhn winds can raise temperatures by as much as 14 °C (25 °F)[4] in just a matter of minutes. Central Europe enjoys a warmer climate due to the Föhn, as moist winds off the Mediterranean Sea blow over the Alps." Wiki

Despite a wind chill, it is quite warm here in the UK and pundits foreseeing an arctic blast are now forgetting what they said.

Solar Minimum conditions seem to result in a divergence of the weather factors, wind, sun, and rain are less mixed.

Storm Oscar forms in the mid Atlantic after the slightly exceptional highs and lows disappear. It also has a tether on Nullschool and is about the same place as Leslie was.

Historic accounts of Minimum conditions included descriptions of less well joined weather systems which Europe has now just experienced for a short time we are told.

I reasonable guess is that Oscar will travel north towards Canada along the American coast just as Leslie did ...And any divergence from that path would be due to the water temperatures being different from a few weeks ago.

The number of wildfires recorded this year in Portugal dropped by 43 percent in relation to the average for the past decade, while the total area burned was down by 69 percent.

Wildfires in 2018 below ten-year average

According to a report that will be published later today by the Home Ministry, a total of 149 arsonists were arrested this year, while a further 805 suspects were identified.

The report also shows that more than 7,000 people were fined for not cleaning their land as dictated by new legislation that came into force earlier this year." TPN

Arctic Oscillation and Polar Vortex Analysis and Forecasts predict a wetter and slightly colder winter in parts for the former USA

" I present the AER winter temperature and precipitation forecast. In general the AER model is forecasting below-normal temperatures for the Southwestern United States, the Central Rockies, Northern California and Southern Oregon with above-normal temperatures in the remainder of the U.S. including the Northern and Eastern U.S. In addition the model is predicting normal to above precipitation especially for the East Coast, the Great Lakes and the Rockies with normal to below precipitation in the Pacific Northwest." Dr. Judah Cohen from Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER)

https://www.aer.com/science-research/climate-weather/arctic-oscillation/

While looking at Europe Dr. Cohen says the snowfall is an important indicator and as there has n't been much on the mountains in middle Europe but more in Scandinavia and Russia a mild winter could be expected.

Severe Weather also predicts heavier snow in the north soon and Dr. Cohen also indicates the interaction of the higher layers of the atmosphere might change the weather types.

Spaceweather has also indicated that the cooling and shrinking of the upper atmosphere is at a high point as the Solar Minimum bumps along with zero Sunspots.

https://spaceweatherarchive.com/2018/10/26/a-new-space-weather-metric/

Despite the claim " TCI is a relatively new space weather metric that tells us how the top of Earth’s atmosphere (or “thermosphere”) is responding to solar activity" the graph shows the temp is following the Sunspot number and only 2009 has a lower temp already.

Looking at the graph shows the temp ( and Sunspot number ) to stay low for a few years.

A gamble now would be to say in Europe warmer weather for the next few years and then colder wintery conditions for Europe later as the Solar cycle climes towards a peak. But that might be an understatement.

" Professor Valentina Zharkova: We will see it from 2020 to 2053, when the three next cycles will be very reduced magnetic field of the sun. Basically what happens is these two waves, they separate into the opposite hemispheres and they will not be interacting with each other, which means that resulting magnetic field will drop dramatically nearly to zero. And this will be a similar conditions like in Maunder Minimum. "

http://www.severe-weather.eu/mcd/extreme-warmth-across-the-balkan-peninsula-peaks-today-oct-29th/

A few posts back I said I thought it would be wet and windy instead of the Arctic blasts other pundits were predicting but it seems they were right as well as the changes in the weather become far more dynamic.

Perhaps this is due to African air being far more energetic in pushing its way north due to the global increased strength of Highs and Lows in a Solar Minimum.

But it is now obvious that official media reports of shiploads of Africans sailing across the Med was a weather report that had injured European Social and Environmental Engineering.

The over fascination with snow while wet and windy conditions are as dangerous seems to me to be another feature of political weather forecasts.

So maybe some of these heavy precipitations will indeed become a heavy snowstorm later in the year.

from the start. They are just following the lead from the Global Corporations that line their pockets. Most Geologists know that an ice age is around the corner.
What we don't know is how the trigger works. Some think the warming melts the ice at the cap, and stops the ocean currents, thus triggering an ice age, but ice ages also follow the pattern of planetary orbit, the 22000 year wobble and eccentric orbit combined. Roughly a 105,000 year cycle.

What we can notice is that the weather is now very dependant on ocean temperatures and combined with this More of the Same could lead to long term cold or heat.

It is only the Warmist who wanted to control the world and slip their views into everyone's way of life.

A Mini Ice Age might just be in some parts of the world while others could be much the same or better off.

The Russians did experience a very cold winter and no one cared. The mountains in Europe are snowier now and that is where glaciers start.

This is only the start of the Solar Minimum and the solar slow down is expected to last for decades.

Saturday was a very warm and locally hot day in parts of southeast Europe. Temperatures peaked in Albania with 32 °C! By SWE | Latest news | 04 November 2018"

I don't think this is ocean-derived weather but the heat from the African land due to perhaps a drop in wind speed.

Other websites mention a just possible and predictable drop in wind speed in the second week in November at around 1000hPa in the Arctic slowing that part of the PV and producing heavy snow showers there.

SWE goes on to predict more record breaking weather.

"Record breaking mid-level warmth for northeast Europe this week, Nov 5-7th By SWE | Mesoscale Discussion | 04 November 2018

The pattern across Europe in the past two weeks has been a complete flip from what we had been experiencing through early and mid October. Now, very deep troughs and cyclones and colder weather are maintaining across the N Atlantic and western Europe, while strong ridging and much warmer weather dominates eastern and partly central Europe. Current trends indicate this pattern should continue for at least another week. In the coming days, this brings record-breaking warmth into the mid-levels across the east/northeast Europe with more than 15 °C warmer airmass than usual for early November. While lowlands will likely not experience the extreme warmth, very warm weather is still expected across Poland, Belarus and Baltic countries." SWE

SWE had predicted colder the average weather this week in the former USA.

Generally pointing again to the idea that the Mini Ice Age could be starting there while Europe booms under heat waves.

The fire in the Atlantic could also be a result of US radar watching the freeze swirl south from the Arctic. US military radars were pointed north across Canada.

"Accumulating snow will continue to impact the Central Plains, from Kansas and Nebraska toward the Midwest today into tonight with several inches expected, NWS said today. Anomalously cold air, way below average for this time of year, will advance south into New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas and continue into Wisconsin, the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and Lower Michigan. Frost and freeze alerts have been issued by the National Weather Service across at least nine states."

It could be a slight drop in sunlight caused by the changes in the Earths orbit around the Sun which was mentioned some time ago and which seemed likely to majorly affect the area around the Great Lakes and Chicago with slightly less sunlight has in fact impacted the whole of the former US. Perhaps the oddly shaped lakes were the trigger.

Personally I don't believe there ever was an Ice Age.

The video is indebted to Milankovitch and he was an interesting guy.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milankovitch_cycles#Orbital_shape_(eccentricity)

But, the conclusion that there was an Ice Age as we are popularly shown does not match the real facts and is romantic conjecture.

Scientist have shown there was an era of glaciation in Europe and that has ended and glaciers will not reform due to environmental changes however cold it gets.

The fact that the glaciers were around during the Middle Ages until the Late Modern era (or Edwardian ) has altered peoples view of what are key weather events and how the past must be interpreted.

The major and significant difference between then and now is the fact that the cold is now on the plains.

One characteristic of this is the speed at which the cold weather will spread.

Another is the lakes. The concept is a lake of fast-moving cold weather will spread over the plain and remain there for some time like the nearby lakes of cold water.

We can see this happening today in the USA and recently in Russia where the landscape is in parts much like Plains.

However, Europe is heading for more warm weather. at least until the 19th of November.

"A weekly overview across Europe indicates some changes in the overall pattern can be expected, but it should remain unsually warm for much of Europe. Especially the Arctic region will experience and extremely strong upper ridge and much above normal temperatures, while cold advection takes places across the east-central Europe and Balkan peninsula towards the weekend. Some dynamic rainy weather is expected across the Iberian peninsula and SE Mediterranean." SWE

And that makes me think the cold in the US will continue there and later maybe cold could come to western Europe from the east. But that would be later next year again.

Weather and Society matching in Europe at least. The peaceful celebrations in Poland of what was basically the end of war and the warm weather have produced a historic event.
