Geoff: Nobody is saying that a marked similarity in the DNA of humans and chimpanzees means that chimpanzees will evolve into humans. It doesn't mean that given time, opportunity and a lack of humans eradicating the chimp population that they couldn't evolve sapience. It means that we share a common ancestor, and a recent one compared to many other species.  Corwin: No, I'm not saying that Chimps will evolve into Humans. Nor am I saying that we evolved from Chimpanzees. Chimpanzees and Humans share a common ancestor... this species diverged into several species... one branched off and eventually became Chimpanzees, one branched off and eventually became Orangutans, one branched off and eventually became Gorillas, one branched off eventually became Humans. But really, this is a really huge subject to try to learn on an online forum, and there are far more qualified teachers than I..... there are uncountable books you can read on the subject if you want to learn more (which I'm guessing you don't). I believe in God creating all life, but possibly created it set on an evolutionary course also. Life everywhere does adapt and change according to drastic changes in the environment. We did not come from monkies, humans are special. I don't think all life was designed just for humans, I do believe life exists throughout the galaxies, and we will soon realize it. Humans tend to abuse power and science in ways that are not for the common good. I believe species become extinct for a reason---they might not fit in with the current life on Earth, like the dinosaurs being just too huge and destructive for other life to survive.
