Should We Revive Long Gone Species Just Because We Can? (Page 2)

Cherokee 26: very good point aura....and no one really knows what killed the dinosaurs they can speculate that it was an asteroid all day...but it could be more to it or it could be totally different...they dont know...and they dont know because there are no records and no people who saw what happened.....

Blackshoes: Eaglez .Thats not so ?There is a record of what happen and of the Eight people that survive it ,As a matter of fact it's been told throughtout history by every culture .In a number of different ways .. It's just not believed by everyone .One must have a open mind when it comes to history ..

Romans

1:21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.

1:22. Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,

Geoff: Just because there weren't any witnesses, it doesn't mean there is no evidence.

The geologic record shows that the KT boundary event (after which the dinosaurs are notably - and without exception - absent from the fossil record, with the exception of those members of the dinosaur family who evolved into birds) was somewhat traumatic. Both heavy volcanic activity and an unusually high incidence of iridium at that point indicate that it was probably a combination of factors that lead to the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Alluding to a mythical event (albeit one that does have some evidence of having some basis in fact) as the cause of the extinction of a species that had been gone from this planet for 60 million years before the first proto-human wondered if it was worth coming down out of the trees is a little strong. Perhaps you should take your concepts to the bullshit forum. Sorry, I mean the religion forum.

Cherokee 26: first of all....theres no proof that we evolved because thats just a "theory"...i believe religion is very real just based off everything around us. Everythings "designed" in a sophisticated way just for life to actually thrive and survive.....just think about that Geoff

Geoff: I accept that a great flood occurred and became part of middle eastern myths. The first record of it predates the bible.

There are several hypothesis about this, the one I find most interesting is that it is a racial memory of the Persian gulf flooding as the sea levels rose at the end of the last ice age.

There is no evidence linking that event with the extinction of the dinosaurs.

Corwin: Holy mother of Dr. Doolittle!!!
How did this thread turn into a discussion suggesting that dinosaurs were wiped out by Noah's fricken Ark??

Biblical floods... Evolution isn't real... all we need now is for someone to bring up Aliens and UFOs, and this thread will have it all.

Blackshoes: Whether its hard too believe ?That's what the eye witness stated..It's no more differcult to believe than that DNA some how grew on its own.If you only knew how much problematic isn't discussed. You be able too see more clearly..IMO

Geoff: Actually, the processes under which DNA was spontaneously are quite well understood, but have nothing to do with evolution - which is purely how species change over time.

Abiogenesis is another field of biology, admittedly it is somewhat related, but separate and distinct.

The evidence for both exists without the need to resort to mythological beings.

Corwin: "Seeing more clearly"

And this apparently involves ignoring all the actual evidence, refusing to educate yourself in the areas of Geology, Biology, and Paleontology, and clinging to ancient religious mythology.

And I guess I could "hear" more clearly if I stuck my fingers in my ears and went "la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la-la"

Blackshoes: Geoff. You are too well brainwashed to see beyond it ...IMO ..You cannot learn anything beyond you're belief in assumptions and conclusions,, You just don't understand that not everything you've been taught is true , Abiogensis is not possible . No matter how much faith you have in what you've been taugh .As long as you assume that the truth is mythology .Youre bias is impenetrable

Geoff: It isn't a matter of faith, it's a matter of evidence. I've performed the experiment which creates amino acids from inorganic components. From amino acids to proteins, from proteins to DNA is simply a matter of time.

If we aren't to follow where evidence based science takes us, then we're stuck with "revealed wisdom". Which if it reveals anything, is generally that it is wrong.

Geoff: At school. All you need are a few simple gases and an electric charge. Maybe it's from living in a country where the religious are quite happy to accept that "evolution is how God gets things done".

Of course, if you have evidence that abiogenesis or evolution are false, then all you need to do it write down your proof, get it peer reviewed and then prepare for a flight to Stockholm to pick up your Noble prize and $1 million dollar prize.

Cherokee 26: I just dont see evolution as a proper theory.....i mean im not saying that some things cant be genetically manipulated and modified and cloning is possible and all but i dont think that it wouldnt all have been possible with the help/design...of a more powerful higher being of some sort.
