because there's all sorts of biological life here,
and its the only place you might be able to pinh a spaceship if you were mad enough to actually veture out to another planet.

peters wolf: i vote that we set up a space station on the moon then go to mars as that is probably where we originated anyways. as the millions of years pass we will need to get to triton as our sun goes into it's red giant stage

LiptonCambell: A)Why do you think we originated from Mars?
B)Whats Triton?
C)Humanity wont last millions of years. We havent even been around for half a million years....

peters wolf: mars once had oceans and atmosphere i truly believe that earth was colonized by life from mars as mars grew uninhabital and earth grew tamer
triton is a large moon around saturn and as our sun grows into a red dwarf so will the goldie locks zone
if humanity can control it's need for self distruction we should exist billions of years

>>>triton is a large moon around saturn and as our sun grows into a red dwarf so will the goldie locks zone

That may not be true- it hasn't been conclusive if planets are consumed when a star expands, or if they are simply pushed further back.

Also, I just googled it- Triton is the moon around NEPTUNE. Titan, however, is a moon around Saturn. Dunno which one you were talking about now

>>>if humanity can control it's need for self distruction we should exist billions of years

I doubt it. Rarely does any species live for more than a million years, and I don't think there's ever been a species that has lived for a billion, or more. It'd be nice, but I don't think we need to be planning for a billion years in the future...

peters wolf: yes titon sorry
as far as mars goes no i believes that an intelligent species evolved there and migrated here. if you really want my opinion about ufo's that's it, they are not travelling millions of light years
they are here and have always been. we humans are either their genetic experiment or at least a rlative of what came from their world
yes i would hope our species would survive a million years and so dream of the billion mark

Yea, you see, Triton would have made more sense. It has plate tectonics and frozen water(about 15-25% of the planet is made up of it).....that been said, according to Wikipedia, Triton will, in 3.6 billion years, collide with Neptune, exploding, and turning into a ring around the planet...so yea...not an ideal place to live long term...

That been said, Titan? That place is even worse. While it's the only known moon to have an atmosphere, it's cold. Like, really cold. −179 °C, or −290 °F. Oddly enough, that temperature can't sustain liquid water- in fact, it's devoid of all water vapor. Rather, it has liquid METHANE. It actually has lakes of methane all over the planet, and it even rains methane- really interesting. In fact, there's an active greenhouse effect on Titan, without which the moon would be even colder.

>>>as far as mars goes no i believes that an intelligent species evolved there and migrated here.

Huh? Then what about all the examples of the simple lifeforms that evolved on Earth? There's clear evidence of life becoming more and more complex ON EARTH, not to mention our genetic relation to hundreds of lifeforms on this planet....meanwhile, there's no evidence of life on Mars
