Facts against Astrology (Post deleted by One Bar ) calybonos: Oops..my bad... I musta stepped on a 'believers' toes. Peace,my medieval-minded rampallian. P4IN: you're just laughing because you can't appreciate the significance of arbitrarily defined star structures! grouch! StuckInTheSixties: Fact: There is no objective, tangible evidence to support the concept of astrology. USEtheUSER: The scientists and intellectuals who dismiss astrology as a myth or superstition have not so far produced any tangible evidence to establish their claim. The end. Conclusions... Let people think and believe in what they want...mind raping is not good. (Edited by USEtheUSER) CoIin: There is lots of evidence to support astrology. And it does gather data, make predictions, etc. The problem is that its predictions have the same accuracy rate as guesswork. So the real question is ,,,, Is astrology a pseudo-science or just bad science? After all, bad coffee is still coffee. We've been over this before (see "Is psychology a science" ). Yes, we'd all love to brand it pseudo-science, but no one has yet been able to come up with a set of satisfactory demarcation criteria to winnow out the ginger flavored chocolates (urgh) from the good stuff. If anyone is interested, Wiki has a page on the "demarcation problem" P.S. A more felicitous analogy......the Scottish football team may be crap and never score any goals, but no one denies they are playing football. (Edited by CoIin) StuckInTheSixties: So ... you establish this thread as a forum for people to discuss "facts against astrology," and then you characterized that discussion as "mind raping." But I'll continue ... UsetheUSER says: "The scientists and intellectuals who dismiss astrology as a myth or superstition have not so far produced any tangible evidence to establish their claim ... The end." That is the bankrupt argument of the intellectually challenged. If that concept had merit, it could be applied to things other than astrology. Therefore ... "The scientists and intellectuals who dismiss the Gods of Mount Olympus as a myth or superstition have not so far produced any tangible evidence to establish their claim ... The end." "The scientists and intellectuals who dismiss the existence of fairies as a myth or superstition have not so far produced any tangible evidence to establish their claim ... The end." "The scientists and intellectuals who dismiss astrology as a myth or superstition have not so far produced any tangible evidence to establish their claim ... The end." "The scientists and intellectuals who dismiss the existence of the incubus and succubus as a myth or superstition have not so far produced any tangible evidence to establish their claim ... The end." I assume you would give each of these arguments equal weight, as they all conform to the means in which you give merit to astrology. If now, why not? lavendar_star: mind rape OMG that is an over exaggerate use of the English language I have ever read. lol. Furthermore, like I said before this is forum where if your making your claims and opinions public it should be allowed to be challenged, people can think what they like with in reasoning (there are limitations). However, if your stating it as fact to the rest of us then that's a different story it should be and must be debated and refuted if there is a lack of evidence for it and evidence against it. StuckInTheSixties: Yes, you are entitled to live in your personal delusions, whether they be about Mount Olympus, fairies, the incubus, or astrology. lavendar_star: What game??????????whatever user, Your a wind up merchant.......and as you say you can think and believe what you want on that score. (Post deleted by One Bar ) (Post deleted by One Bar ) StuckInTheSixties: Any competent astrologer should have seen in the stars that this thread was gonna go badly ... USEtheUSER: Shelea...my posts were for SITS. lol It is my pleasure to debate with you, I might learn something from you. | Science Chat Room Similar Conversations |
