Do you believe in Aliens? (Page 223) ghostgeek: It gained him the known world as a plaything, exactly what the second coming was supposed to do. zeffur: re: "ghostgeek: It gained him the known world as a plaything, exactly what the second coming was supposed to do." As I stated above---"You clearly do not understand what Jesus' 2nd coming entails--it wasn't a Jewish revolt that was destined to fail..." ghostgeek: I understand perfectly well that Mark's model for the second coming was Vespasian's march through the Holy Land. Corwin: My best guess would be a Dassault Mirage-2000, or a Sukhoi Su-30MKI. Both have been in wide use throughout the Middle East and Asia for many years, and their basic triangular delta-wing design would create an infrared signature exactly like that if viewed from underneath. But of course, an advanced alien spacecraft visiting from a distant planet is much more likely. Corwin: The pulsing and flickering are just meaningless artifacts created from the image-filtering software used to enhance the imagery. Without that software being used you wouldn't even be able to discern a triangular shape, just a vague blurry dot. zeffur: That may be true. It might also be due to the frame rate of the images taken or some other unknown effect--but, it also may be a pulsing of the light from that craft--neither one of us can be certain... Corwin: To explain it it more detail, the software is programed to skip the image through sightly different wavelengths of infrared, searching for the one that creates the best resolution, as well as slight automatic adjustments to ISO (sensitivity), and focus. As the craft is in motion, the software is busy doing what it's supposed to do... hence some flickering and pulsing. You see, this is what happens when people don't understand what they're looking at, or don't understand the technology that's behind it, and would rather just see what they want to. ---------------------------- I'm reminded of the time that Lori posted some links to images from NASA's SOHO solar observatory telescope. The telescope is designed to take two types of solar images -- images of the surface of the Sun -- or the Sun's corona. To observe the corona, the telescope has an internal filter called an "Occulting Disk" (an opaque circle exactly the size of the Sun's diameter as seen through the telescope) that creates an artificial "eclipse" and allows the corona to be observed without the blinding glare of the Sun itself. In these particular images, the occulting-disk had been moved off the side, but was still partially seen covering the bottom-left corner of the Sun. Lori claimed that that filter was a GIANT BLACK SPHERICAL ALIEN SPACECRAFT AS BIG AS THE SUN! I tried to explain to Lori how solar telescopes like that work, but she would have none of that... NASA obviously screwed up big time and accidentally publicly released dozens of images of this giant Sun-sized alien spacecraft. (Edited by Corwin) Corwin: "Pulsing of light from the craft" would make no difference... ... those images were taken in the infrared, not visible light. Corwin: What do you mean "no-evidence"? The Navy SAID they were infrared images. Even if they didn't say so, I know what an infrared image looks like, which is why it was all green like that. And it's not my fault that I know how telescopes and cameras and imaging software works. You could learn this kind of stuff too if you wanted to... rather than spend all your time on conspiracy websites and looking for evidence of space-aliens. And seeing that evidence no matter WHAT you're looking at. (Edited by Corwin) Corwin: What made the SOHO thing even funnier, is that if a giant alien spacecraft the size of the Sun was partially eclipsing the Sun... ... I'd imagine that millions of people on the day-lit side of the Earth would have noticed that. Not just seen through a NASA telescope. Corwin: What "theories" are you referring to? I have offered no theories on this thread as far as I can remember. Apart from the theory that I think the existence of intelligent life elsewhere in the Cosmos is a very distinct, even likely possibility. I'm not even sure if that qualifies as a "theory" -- more of an optimistic speculation. But, sorry Lori... to be convinced that we're actually being "visited" by these alleged extraterrestrials, I'd need some pretty substantive evidence... CERTAINLY a lot more than just a few seconds of distorted infrared Navy images that look a hell of a lot like a common Russian fighter jet. | Science Chat Room 1 Person Chatting Similar Conversations |
