Who was the greatest scientific genius? (Page 5)

Blackshoes
Blackshoes: I Know that according to the Education system kitty
The average life span was taught as only about 42 years of age in the pass
However : what's not taught is that average life span was taken from the Cities .Where poor drinking water n' terrible sanitation was the rule in the pass 'causing disease and early death .
In rural area such as farms ,and ranches the Life expectances' were still about 60 years old . That hasn't changed in 4000 years ..In a effort too be honest, and fair ' the site gave population growth rates much lower than what we know of ,in pass .
Never the less 'from a Evolutionary paradigm ',the population would still be astronomical today .

Kitty there's a world of Information, and Knowledge that most are just not aware of .
Nor is it taught within the school system .

El Comandante
El Comandante:
Scientists tend to build on each other's work and add to the overall understanding of a phenomena so it's difficult to pin point one. I'll go with Eratosthenes but the others in times of antiquity to now are good on their own merit.

Evelyn99
Evelyn99: I think Albert Einstein because much of his understanding simply came from pure thought process. Said to be the highest achievement of a single brain in the history of all humanity.. it’s just an fantastic insight of imagination and fantasy as he self proclaimed. He had no formal education and in every school book all over the world was isak Newtons universesly Ageed explanation written by perhaps the most respectful person in history. Nobody would ever dear to challenge something written in stone and for the most part proven to be right. Same respect as the bibel. But tjis uneducated nobody a forgotten patent clarcbin switserland in his mind alone with an unique imagination trying to imagine how it would be to ride on a light beam suddenly got something beyond insight into his mind and changed our very basic understanding of space and time and how they are one of the same thing. It’s not just a intelligent idea. But it’s beautiful like listening to Beethoven’s piano music. It’s romantic and has a Beaty too it that no other intellectual accomplishment ever had in my opinion. And he made isak newton understanding of our universe step down. Even today few people know much about this but there are written books that make it easier to understand . The elegant universet written by professor Brian Green is a book for everyone a classic and beatiful written book that uses crestive illustrstions so Even i could understand. Funny to. Mr. Greene is brilliant and professor at Columbia university in New York. Also Stephen hawkings books specially his second one don’t remember the title but he has some great illustrations and are pretty much without any objections the most brilliant human in our modern time. This is agreed upon by the bord where all top recognized theoretical physics are honerd to participate., Stephen hawking also lived his life with MS an outoimune decease that for most reducing life expectancy to very little. He made it passed 70 years old. Amazing. Some people say if you really have something to live for you will likely continue even against all odds. What a inspiration he was.,

Blackshoes: I'm wondering David when Tesla wrote that ',was that before 1920 or after ?
I assume it was earlier Testa died Jan 7 1943 ?

Was Testa stating such opinions about Einstein theories" or just a general view of Mathematics ?

Very few Of Einstein's or Newton theories have been discarded

mine_caprices
mine_caprices: As a Serbian I personally and biased think the best scientist ever was Nikola Tesla, then Milutin Milankovic and of course Mihajlo Pupin ,but recently i found text about Milos Maric who was younger brother of Mileva Maric, also genius.I was really fascinated by text and ashamed because all my school years i nevr heard about such a great scientist. I tried to find anything on English to copy-past here ,but couldn't .
Here is what some text says about him : "
His most important research was in the field of mitosis and amitosis, which laid the foundation for cloning.Along with these studies Marić worked and prepared for the study of the nervous system, but was interrupted by the Great Homeland War. These works were published only after the war and Marić's death and served as a basis for further research in this field."
and thats it, even on Serbian and Russian!
as I read now his work is translating ,lets hope that we will read much more about him !

And second thing i wanna say is ..Hey lets not forget ladies .... and my favorite is Hedy Lamarr
beauty and brain can goes together

deacon7771: mine_caprices, I have to say that Hedy Lamarr was a super hot good looking woman who also was so smart. She was born Hedwig Geisel, and her life story is so sad, she came up with the idea for "frequency hopping," but she was never awarded the proper patent because she freely donated the idea to the U.S. War Department during World War II.

angpd
angpd: I still think the basic question is faulty. Like asking what is the best fruit? Not really sure in which category Tesla falls, but not with Einstein or Hawking. Can you really compare medicine to astrophysics or cosmology. I think not! And what is the scale that should be used to base any conclusion? The percentage of change in overall knowledge before and after their individual contribution to science, which would favor early scientist, or a profound change in in our general thinking as a result of their contribution, favoring the later scientist. Wondering if Gates and Jobs should be in the running, if you include computer science. Most certainly these 2 have changed the thinking and effected more people than anyone else in history. .

deacon7771: I would never name Bill Nye as a "great" scientific genius, he might be well schooled, but when he resorted to name calling the people who disagree with him he disqualified himself for any respect in my book. While I might actually support his views and position on certain matters (i.e. climate change) I think that name calling and such does NOT ever belong in scientific debate. Even if someone confronts me with something I consider absurd, if I am trying to put forward my scientific ideas on a matter, calling my opponent some names is not going to persuade them to come to my point of view.

He's an incredibly talented guy, but I would classify him as a musician, not a scientist.
