kittybobo34: Duncan,, if we find no life in places like Europa or Titan, then I would say that strongly suggests that the life here on Earth started on Earth. Still going to take a lot more research as to how it started.

kittybobo34: At the rate things are going, I would venture a guess that we will have the basics of how abiogenesis could happen within the next 20 years. Those early experiments were interesting, but there was so much we didnt know at the time, Like the chemical based archaec life at the deep ocean vents that is all non oxygen breathing .
So effectively the life we see today is nothing like the life that would have existed 3.5 billion years ago.

XxduckmeatxX16: The odds of primitive life in the universe have to be fairly high but the odds of intelligent life is a whole different matter especially when you consider the impossible odds we overcame to be here. Nevertheless I think intelligent life is out there evidenced by the numerous UFOs that we often see. .

Rick Prime
Rick Prime: Consider the Drake equation which is basically, take the number of earth-like worlds (and there are many) x the number of those worlds in the habitable zone x the number of those worlds with atmosphere, water and a volume that is anticipated to promote the existence of life - and there are literally thousands upon thousands of them. However, the equation then is multiplied by the number of these words that have contacted us - zero! All we need, therefore is one simple message from a distant world and suddenly life blooms throughout the cosmos,

As it is, there is certainly life out there, the amazing redness of the kuiper objects, for example, as identified by the doctors fred hoyle and chandra wikramasinghe, and water and amino acids (the building blocks of life) have been discovered in the few asteroids we have visited. Sadly, not intelligent and space faring life, but maybe an important clue to a greater reality.

XxduckmeatxX16: We simply don't know what the odds are for intelligent life since we only have ourselves to compare it to. Sure there maybe primitive life forms out there in abundance but how many actually evolve into intelligent beings?

Plus there's the time factor, there may have been intelligent life long before us but are now gone. Maybe we weren't meant to co-exist, maybe God put a huge gulf between us for reasons only He knows.
