If God exists, where is he? (Page 214) "So is God a metaphor? Something made up long ago aruond a camp fire?" - ghostgeek This is your tactic. Twisting words. At no time did I say G-d is a metaphor. I said the "spark" of G-d is a metaphor for the spiritual attribute that's within us all. You think you're clever and funny as you spin what we say into a childish telephone game. Seriously, grow up and try to learn something. If God exists, as some people claim he does, why doesn't he ever put in an appearance somewhere in the world? Dear me zan. I hope you are not going to follow Michael Tellinger. He believes the Banks created the myth of modern gods, like they create money. They create money out of thin air and say it is real. Like they create their gods out of thin air and say they are real. That does seem a little extreme of Michael. "We've answered that numerous times, so let's ask you something. How would you want Him to appear?" Because that would demonstrate that the religion he wants us to follow, is not purely imagined. ..like that magic rainbow Unicon up your ass you have proven to exist. People who spread this kind of mythical, religious nonsense and delusions don't merit a great deal of respect. religion is used to justify rejection of reason, sanity, honesty; it's used to justify bigotry, entitlement and any number of alterations to law, legal and financial process. this kind of rubbish you and zan have come up with 'if you can't prove it's doesn't exist, then it does exist" is the kind of brainless intellectual sewerage I'd expect from people who have quite literally been lobotomised. The difference being, lobotomised people do merit respect. If somebody sailed through the front door without doing it any harm, then I would certainly think that person was special. And if they smelt of roses, I might certainly ask if they were God. But of course, could you trust anything they tell you? It might be the Devil who'd come visiting. Well Moses heard god's voice coming from a burning bush. It was never explained how god got into the little burning bush. But there you go ghost. The voice told Moses he would negotiate with Pharo. Slight complication at that time. Moses was a murderer on the run from Egyptian police. On the subject of 'trust'. It has always puzzled some historians why the Judao Christian religion took root in history. In ancient Iraq Religion was big business. Like in America or Iran today. The 'gods' were already well known and had huge temples in Babylon and Nineveh. They were very chatty too ghost. They often spoke through priests ordering this person killed or that person promoted. These god's had heroes who had overcome Great Floods, or fought with other sky god's. But one one fine day Abraham heard a voice telling him to leave Iraq. When he set off on his journey, it was to change the entire world history and break the iron fisted grip that the global elite had on the pjblics access to discovering the truth about god. And you Bozo, with your vicious rhetoric, childish insults and trolling deserve respect? I have more respect for the dung under my shoe than the likes of you and your ilk. I don’t want your approval or respect. You make me literally laugh out loud. Thanks for the amusement. “could you trust anything they tell you? It might be the Devil who'd come visiting. “ – Ghost Would the devil smell of roses? I think it would smell of rancid sweat & smoky, maybe like burning rubber but I’ve never smelt it. The fragrance of God, on the other hand, is sweeter than roses - heady, with a delicate note of honey, delightfully zen, yet somehow indescribable. When it wafts over you, it’s impossible not to inhale deeply. I'm fairly certain, Ghost, if a body sailed through your front door without destroying it, you'd probably forgotten to close the door. Otherwise, I'm guessing you'd be terrified, thinking you were going crazy while your brain was dissolving. It makes sense that one shouldn't make such grand entrances, right? It doesn’t make sense for one who sincerely believes in God but doesn’t trust Him. I think there must be a momentary lapse in judgment, likely caused by deep emotional stress. In that state, remembering to trust isn't easy but if you can manage it, the wisdom will be revealed. (Edited by Zanjan) "And you Bozo, with your vicious rhetoric, childish insults and trolling deserve respect? " If you think I'm angling for your approval, or anything, you're as deluded in that matter as you are in your absurd religion. "It doesn’t make sense for one who sincerely believes in God but doesn’t trust Him" That's an interesting comment. Because it would pertain to a different god to yours. You advocate your god is infinitely worse and benign...and trustworthy. 'trust'.in you god is already mandated by the brand of religion. According to you, if you don't believe in your god(s), then..you don't believe in proper gods at all - therefore, you're not a believer. It's a 'no true Scotsman' fallacy. "I think there must be a momentary lapse in judgment, likely caused by deep emotional stress" The reverse is factually the case. Increased stress: financial, personal, civil, leads to increased religiosity. Religiosity IS a lapse in reason (see the argument re. 'i proved a tree making fairy'), there is no reasonable way to conclude a god is real, therefore, the only way one can become religious is to suspend both reason and honesty. Zan, this is not an emotive argument, it's not subjective - there is NO logical path to god, at all. You cannot reason that gis is anything other than imagined. Religion is, by definition, unreasonable. Ask me if you're unclear how. "but if you can manage it, the wisdom will be revealed. " Nope. There is no honesty or wisdom gained by insisting it makes sense to reject reason. Don't know Zan. The great climax in the bible, the staggering orgy of blood, butchery and suffering does indeed leave some people speechless. The genocidal mass murder of billions of humans. The ecological apocalypse which sees a Hollywood style end of the entire world. Blood gushing in rivers everywhere. You said all this was just made up to scare a bunch of idiot Christians in the past. For thousands of years, brute faced, low IQ people have been terrified reading about all this. Bozo, delusion is your laughable expectation that religious folks will be persuaded by a clown like you to abandon our faith and forsake our G-d with your vile tactics and smug commentary. You make a complete jackass of yourself trolling religious chat rooms. Seriously nothing better to do? Some life. Nobody cares what you think except you. Go back to your cave. “absurd religion” You don’t know thing one about my religion, my beliefs, my spirituality or me period. You have knee jerk reactions to anything you perceive “religious” without any knowledge of said religion. You type garbage out of complete ignorance of what you profess to hate so much. Honestly what happened in your childhood to make you so bitter? Mummy probably dropped you on your head. On purpose. Chronology, that bloody climax you speak of is of the christian bible. The Hebrew Scriptures have a much happier ending. Just saying. DNC. If you have a religion, you are religious. All religions are absurd, evey..last..one..even the ones I don't K ow about because FUNDAMENTAL to what make a religion a religion, is worship of a deity or supernatural power. That...is..what...'religion'...means. ALL gods are imagined - there is NO physical evidence you, or ANYONE can show, which leads to a defensible conclusion that said god/superpower is real. THEREFORE - all religions are absurd EVEN ones I K ow nothing about - because BY DEFINITION,they are absurd. “there is NO physical evidence you, or ANYONE can show” That’s because G-d is not physical. Are emotions physical? No. Do they exist? Of course. How do you know? Because you can experience emotions even though you can’t hold one in your hand or put one in a box. Is spiritually physical? No. Even you would have to concede that spirituality exists because people experience it just like emotions. Just because something isn’t physically evident doesn’t mean it’s “absurd.” Not everything is going to be handed to you on a platter. You have to do a little work which apparently is foreign to you. Emotions, spirituality and G-d DO exist. Doesn’t matter if they’re physical. Some things don’t exist in a physical realm but they DO in fact exist and you cannot prove otherwise. Your narrow mind is what’s absurd. Dolt!
