If God exists, where is he? (Page 206) What are the rights of workers? In Canada, all have the right to a safe workplace - there are government regulations on that so this is never an issue. This includes the right to refuse a task deemed to be hazardous; there can be no recriminations for doing so. When applying for a job at Canada Post, you have to pass the interview, saying you can lift a 30 pound package. Maternity leave - You will know this before you are hired. Canada Post has 17 weeks of well-paid maternity leave. I think that's quite suitable, given it can apply to a father as well. Your same job will be available when you return. Discrimination - Our country has a Human Rights Board with regulations that prevent discrimination based on race, gender, disability, religion etc. As a crown coproration, Canada Post complies. Wages: Also government regulated and negotiated. Postal workers make nearly double the minimum wage; more, depending on the job. That's not too shabby. Plus a pension, paid monthly to workers who retire. Staffing and dismissal: All employers must comply to the law. This includes layoffs. If there are staffing problems, that's not your business. One doesn't have to do a job they didn't sign up for. Therefore, if hours need to be extended, the company may offer free choice overtime or hire part -time staff to manage the excess. Disability: Stands by law for any workplace. Should a worker become disabled on the job, they're eligible for workman's compensation payments, followed by a disability pension if unable to return to work. If one does return but can't perform their previous tasks, they'll be offered another position which they can do. In Canada, all rights are respected by Canada Post so maybe somebody is inventing some mysterious new right? I heard one woman on the news complaining Canada Post is taking their jobs away. Boo hoo, if you want higher wages, the only way a bankrupt company can do that is by cutting staff. That's what happened the previous times you guys went on strike in 2011 and 2018. Go find another job before yours is gone when there's a hostile corporate takeover. (Edited by Zanjan) How does God play into this? For unbelievers, He leaves them to their own devices. This issue is for all the world to see what their own hands have wrought. Local Unions once had their place but they got power-hungry and went too far, destroying the company and creating ghost towns. Think of the damage a National Union does! True believers in God are after truth and justice, which means they won't engage in strikes, since they're the antithesis to all that's fair and just. There's no place for that in the New World Order. If this means they get fired for not participating, so be it. God will compensate them for their right action and guide them to a new job. There are lots of fish in the sea. You may have to move but you'll be glad you did. (Edited by Zanjan) "ostal workers make nearly double the minimum wage; more, depending on the job. That's not too shabby. Plus a pension, paid monthly to workers who retire. " This is a meaningless statement, typical of someone who uses minimal information make a point. It's also untrue - https://ca.indeed.com/cmp/Canada-Post/salaries It turns out that salaries in postal service in Canada range FROM minimum wage, to we'll, much higher. So not only has your claim hidden relevant information, it's also lies. Moreover, it's not simply a matter of getting a salary, zan it's a matter of keeping pace with inflation. That means that if your salary does not increase from quarter to quarter, then...you're actually taking a pay cut, since you loose purchasing power. As for pensions - everyone in Australia gets a pension if they need one. So what? Are you that ignorant of basic economics that you don't understand tpensions and welfare are among the best ways to keep people buying things- a fundamental requirement of a properly functioning capital system? You can rant all you want, it doesn't seem to me you're abreast of all relevant details, either deliberately or negligently. It seems to me you're a clueless ranting mouthpiece for conservative, entitled ideals, even though youre not even American! Not knowing things, or the superficial depth to which you do know things has been a common theme from you on all fora I find you posting your disingenuous nonsense. I would even go so far to say that you don't seem to have experienced the modern workforce for decades, so perhaps you should pull your head in, and comment only where you actually have relevant knowledge and contextual awareness. (Edited by bonzono) Uniformed person NOT from Canada who has never owned a business - don't take those wages out of context. According to Canadian Law, temporary and part-time workers aren't eligible for the same pay and benefits as full-time, permanent workers. All of them can be laid off at the company's discretion. Canadians have been fine with this - there's always a chance a temp/part -timer might be selected for permanent, full- time. Don't expect that for a non-profit organization. FYI, when a company has more part-time workers, they're giving more people jobs and flexibility, especially mothers with children, seniors, and the disabled. Crown corporations have job creation programs to keep the unemployment rate low. Canada Post has, since I can remember, has had a majority of temp and part -time workers because it's a cost-cutting measure; they're not outsourcing. To my knowledge, they haven't laid off any *permanent* workers. If they do that, Canadian Law says they can't re-open the position at a later time. So, that would be downsizing. In this strike, workers are demanding job security - that is, control of the percentage of part- time and temp employees plus equal benefits for part-time and temp workers. Sorry, you don't get to be special. (Edited by Zanjan) God forbid anyone should have job security!! I'm sure you'll push those plebeian upstart prolats into line hey Zan? Let them eat cake, right!? How dare they! Sorry, why is it apparently immoral if them to want job security? Simply because no one else does? Wanting job security is unreasonable...why? (Edited by bonzono) Canada Post is looking at re-designing its services. Door-to-door daily delivery isnt feasible anymore. I wish I had that but I'm not inconvenienced by driving 15 minutes to the local postal station once per week, while running errands. When I was young, I had to take the bus to pick up mail at a depot. Aside from waiting 20 minutes for the bus, the return trip took an hour. However, we have new ways to do things via electronics - almost nobody writes letters or mails cheques anymore. Why, when instant connection is possible via Internet service. If I couldn't afford an Internet service plan, I could just go to the local library and do all my stuff there on a computer for $1 per hour. That's less than the price of a single postage stamp. Of course, there's no such thing as Internet connection security. It goes down on occasion. That's natural and nothing natural can protect you. As usual, you've managed to avoid answering question by rambling on about some boring, irrelevant anecdote that no one but you gives two nuts about, because you know you can't respond to questions that cast doubt on the nonsense, myopic brainwashed dogma you had crammed down your eager throat for the last however many decades. Why is wanting Job security a bad thing Zan? (Edited by bonzono) Ghost, we're not all controller personalities; to think we can harness fate, insisting our own laws must rule is irrational. So, we spend half our lives engaged in hazard avoidance strategies. The wise install safeguards. Some buy insurance while others save up their money and invest it. As a licensed driver, I've got quite a number of possible dangerous scenarios in my head, each with a plan of action to escape or mitigate damage. That way, I can act instantly without confusion. If I find myself in a situation I hadn't envisioned, I'll follow a famous astronaut's advice: He said, "If you have 10 seconds to disaster, take the first 9 seconds to think and the last second to act". We know there are thieves so I lock my doors, have antivirus programs installed and I encrypt sensitive documents. If anything breaks through those barriers, I've got a back-up plan. (Edited by Zanjan) Failing all those things, I rely on God for assistance. One should do all they can on their own then leave the rest in His hands. He knows what we need. What we need are ever larger bombs with hair-triggers. A few of those thrown around should sort out all the bad people. " I rely on God for assistance" wise. I personally rely on a dice roll. If I get a 6, something happens. if I get a 1, something else happens. Whatever I roll, something happens - the die ALWAYS replies. sometimes nannas gout gets cured too - all on a dice roll! Well, the Ukraine's Security Service has no problem with bombs when it wants to kill someone. They've just admitted to blowing up Russian Lt Gen Igor Kirillov and his assistant, Ilya Polikarpov in Moscow. Makes more sense to pack a bigger wallop and blow up the bucket. I guess they were just making a statement. Bombs are the ultimate statement. A hole in the ground, wreaked buildings, dead bodies and everyone deaf. What good is a bomb without a bang? Buildings need to fall down and that is best accomplished with an ear shattering boom. Not really ghost. There is the Neutron Family of bombs. Neutron Bombs explode silently. They send out a wave of radiation that kills every living thing in it's range. Nothing living survives. But all property is left in tact as if nothing happened. Even machinery still works afterwards. Anyhow, if am not mistaken Neutron weapons are outlawed. They work just as well with ships. No amount of armour protects the crews. The radiation just goes through it. Some countries have been accused of using Neutron weapons. But there is no proof. | Religion Chat Room 37 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
