Why did you turn to Christianity?

Stephen2020Vision
Stephen2020Vision: I've recently became Christian, but it's been hard to maintain faith during lockdown, but I've been continuing to have faith that good things will come out of the tragedy that has happened in the world. I try and remind myself what turned me to Christianity in the first place.

At the heart of it was about values...I think left-wing politics had become too radical. I found in Christianity there's a healthy skepticism that achieving infinite virtue in human nature is a pipedream. In many ways Christianity is a safety stop for one's personal thirst for power as I have seen time and again that those that claim that they are somehow immune to corruption, that they would never do x, y and z, time and time again fall short of their own ideals.

But in all honesty I messed up my life on one too many occasions that I felt that I had to make a choice, to embrace good Christian values into my life, forgive myself when I fall short of meeting them, but that's all the more reason why I needed it, as Christianity encourages you to face the predator in your own soul.

What turned you to Jesus and God and what keeps you close to him?

Stephen2020Vision: anxiety? That's it?

I suppose that sums up my post in simple terms.

Zanjan: Quick question, Stephen: So, you didn't turn to Christianity simply because you believed Jesus was who He claimed to be?

Stephen2020Vision: That was a part of it...I did experience the power of Jesus and the holy spirit at my local church that I couldn't deny but that was a deeply personal experience.

Values was also a large factor I admit. But I find that at the end of the day, it's people that truly have God with them or the ones that don't let me down.

Zanjan: Ok, because what I gathered from your post is that you just liked the social aspect. I hope you realize that all religions of God teach right values. Religion actually IS a deeply personal experience - you're working on your own relationship with God.

Casssia: Yo,

living a totally Christian lifestyle, especially during lockdown has it's challenges.

I'm constantly repenting for stuff.. but you know what? I've to learned how to die to myself. and by that I mean take note of what it is that I'm failing to do and reflect on why I fall and/or trip..Every test I fail, I make note of it and pray to come out of it, to be delivered from it.

What keeps my relationship tight with Christ, is simply being grateful for a new day....like dude..Gratitude alone is enough to usher in His Holy Spirit and you just begin to worship in your own way; not the way the church tells you, not the way anyone else tells you, but that way yOu communicate and connect with the Most High..the rest just comes natural...that to me is how you stay close. Does that make sense?
