He loved us and wants all men to be saved. I am not part of any religious group or organization, but have come to knowing and believing the gospel giving to Paul for the salvation of my soul. Motati: With due respect, I will like to know more. What is the purpose of religion, christianity for now? Let's use our brains that are God gift to mankind. How best can we apply Christianity to the communities? They have read the Bible, they understand it, they are baptised. And when are we going to start with the real application of the good practices? We have so many scholars that are now critiquing each other, that we appreciate. All what I am waiting for is the application here on earth. Sin causes the separation from God and all that have committed sin do not go to heaven! Your exclusion of Heaven and Hell within the discussion is denying the very reason for Christianity ! The early Christians knew. They were introduced to a wonderful new world - the most beautiful religious community in existence. Everything in it was so fresh and sweet! Their cups ran over. They wouldn't have traded that for anything. They died for it. Today, most of the non-religious who become Christians, had parents who were Christians - it was the only religion they knew. Most of the new baptisms are actually returning Christians - they'd strayed in their youth; 8 times out of ten, they're recovering alcoholics. If Christians knew what it was like to be saved, they wouldn't be waiting for Christ's return to come get them. Heaven is a place they hope to go, meaning they're not in it yet. So what do they have now? Well, they enjoy God's protection and grace in faith while on earth; they've been enabled to live their lives well but, that's no guarantee paradise is their reward. It has to be earned. Jesus said: "For whoever wants to save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for My sake will find it. He chose some for a reason, not willy nilly. Another Bible quote is "the dead shall rise first". Yet not all the dead rise....some would be dead for eternity. This suggests there's something different going on. Can you pour fresh clean water into a vessel that's full of dark, putrid water? Try it, the vessel would overflow and the clean water would spill out. If the vessel was half full of skunky water to begin with, topping it up with clean water won't make it potable. The one poisons the other. There's only one way to solve this problem - empty out the vessel first. You have to die to yourself first - that's the key. Pour out all of the self, be as nothing. Then you're fittingly dead, with no trace of who and what you were. THAT, God can work with. Christ came to heal the sick, not the healthy. That healing IS the salvation.
