Apokalupto: Proof Isaiah 53 is about the Arm of the LORD (Not Israel)
We are told that the Messiah is called a shepherd and is Gods servent, and that He will spring from David who foreshadowed Him.

Ezekiel 34:23 And I will set up one shepherd over them, and he shall feed them, even my servant David; he shall feed them, and he shall be their shepherd.
Ezekiel 34:24 And I the LORD will be their God, and my servant David a prince among them; I the LORD have spoken it.

Apokalupto: Now to ISAIAH 53 the MESSIAH.

Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?
Isaiah 53:2 For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, there is no beauty that we should desire him.

The subject of Isaiah 53 is the arm of the LORD. We read of the build up of the coming Messiah in 10 chapters before.

Isaiah 40:3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Isaiah 40:5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed, and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

A couple things to note here. Isa 40:3 is talking about Elijah too, because Malalchi 4:5 said: Behold, I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming of the great and dreadful day of the LORD:

In Isaiah the LORD is said to be coming and it is reinforced by the fact that 40:3 has someone announcing his coming. Before the the coming of the LORD Elijah comes first and he it is that makes this announcement first of all.

Isaiah 40:9 O Zion, that bringest good tidings, get thee up into the high mountain; O Jerusalem, that bringest good tidings, lift up thy voice with strength; lift it up, be not afraid; say unto the cities of Judah, Behold your God!

Next we learn that GOD comes with his arm which shall RULE FOR HIM, which is a reference to a ruler.

Isaiah 40:10 Behold, the Lord GOD will come with strong hand, and his arm shall rule for him: behold, his reward is with him, and his work before him.

Next, the arm which is to rule for Him is referred to as a shepherd.

Isaiah 40:11 He shall feed his flock like a shepherd: he shall gather the lambs with his arm, and carry them in his bosom, and shall gently lead those that are with young.
Isaiah 40:12 Who hath measured the waters in the hollow of his hand, and meted out heaven with the span, and comprehended the dust of the earth in a measure, and weighed the mountains in scales, and the hills in a balance?

Let’s do a little recap.
First we are told that the LORD is coming and that His arrival is being announced.

Next we are told that the LORD comes with His arm.

Next we are told His arm shall rule for Him.

Next we are told that the arm that shall rule for Him is as a shepherd.

Lastly God makes His kings like shepherd, like David who is the like figure of the coming Messiah who is to shepherd His people Israel in Ezekiel 34:23 & Ezekiel 34:24 I showed you that at the top of the thread.

Here are a couple for instances that prove that the arm and the shepherd are always Gods redeemers.

Isaiah 51:9 Awake, awake, put on strength, O arm of the LORD; awake, as in the ancient days, in the generations of old. Art thou not it that hath cut Rahab, and wounded the dragon?
Isaiah 51:10 Art thou not it which hath dried the sea, the waters of the great deep; that hath made the depths of the sea a way for the ransomed to pass over?

This is talking about Moses who redeemed Israel by the ARM of the LORD, in other words, the arm is associated with one man, a leader, a redeemer, a shepherd not a nation. God raises up Kings, Messiahs, Redeemers to save His people

Isaiah 63:11 Then he remembered the days of old, Moses, and his people, saying, Where is he that brought them up out of the sea with the shepherd of his flock? where is he that put his holy Spirit within him?
Isaiah 63:12 That led them by the right hand of Moses with his glorious arm, dividing the water before them, to make himself an everlasting name?

What is all this pointing to? What does it all mean?

Isaiah 53:1 Who hath believed our report? and to whom is the arm of the LORD revealed?

Isaiah 53 is talking about the arm of the LORD, who is a shepherd, a ruler, “a meek prophet” like Moses and “an unrecognized King” like David, who performed priestly functions and whose children were called Kohen. (Priest not of Levi but of melchizedek Psalm 110:4)

Isaiah 53 is the Messiah of the LORD, Jesus Christ, the only begotten Son of God, the savior of the world.

John 1:12 But as many as received JESUS, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:
1Peter 2:5 Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
Revelation 1:6 And hath made us kings and priests unto God and his Father; to him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

butttler: XP--- this is a fine choice for a thread...it is so so clear by God's Most Holy word in book of Isaiah that some chapters do speak of Nation of Israel as the servant of God...but then there are chapters that make it abundantly clear the servant of God He is speaking about is an individual the Messiah to come...

.and yes of course God spoke of many different servants of Him....and i agree that the arm of the Lord is NOT the nation of Israel but the Messiah Who is our Sheperd Jesus Christ....

the Holy New Covenant or testament of God gives word for word from God that He blinded the chosen Jewish nation to show fulness to the Gentiles....Romans 11:8-12...

“God gave them a spirit of deep sleep,

eyes that should not see

and ears that should not hear,

down to this very day.”h

9
And David says:i

“Let their table become a snare and a trap,

a stumbling block and a retribution for them;

10
let their eyes grow dim so that they may not see,

and keep their backs bent forever.”

11 Again I ask: Did they stumble so as to fall beyond recovery? Not at all! Rather, because of their ( Israel's ) transgression, salvation has come to the Gentiles to make Israel envious.

12 But if their transgression means riches for the world, and their loss means riches for the Gentiles, how much greater riches will their full inclusion bring!

and when the fullness is complete of bringing in gentiles God will then move back to open the eyes of Nation of Israel and then they will mourn and weep for they will know in Whom they have pierced...fulfillment of Zechariah 12:10....and God will abound great blessing on the Jewish people....for their full inclusion being grafted back in will result in Jew and Gentile as one in God

for we know the heart of the Father was always to break down the dividing wall between Jew and Gentile...because God created both and God wanted all of us to enjoy Eternal life and Eternal blessings from Him

Apokalupto: When ever the Jews deny the obvious subject of Isaiah 53, they almost always use the oral tradition/some commentary to back up their claims. They refuse to just use Gods word and that's why they don't know the subject of the chapter.
