Apokalupto: Some things to keep in mind while reading.
1. Symbolic means non literal. That means it didn't happen literally.
2. God never forsook Israel, God sent His only begotten Son to die on the cross to save the world from ever encroaching sin.
3. The OT was never really replaced, it was fulfilled.
4. God never broke His covenant, He fulfilled His promises.

The prophets of Israel talk about the hope of a new birth, a new life coming into the world while they are going into captivity, how strange! What could it possibly mean? It means a lot more than just the idea of pain. Using a virgin woman giving birth is a bad metaphor for describing nothing more than pain, but that’s because its not talking about that, its talking about the hope of New Life in spite of death, the death of Israel in its captivity in Babylon. <--- that's just my attention grabber, I obviously mean that symbolically.

If you are familiar with my threads you should know that I enjoy proving things by demonstrating their OT blueprints or foreshadowing visions of the future which have been laid down so many times in scripture.

In my previous thread I had made known the figurative nature of the Virgin Daughter of Zion giving birth but now I will show you how it is synthesized using those symbols and patterns and blueprints how they add up and overlay so smoothly.

By understanding the concepts and structures of how previous blueprints have been drawn out in scripture, you will see how deep and well knitted together the Two Testaments are forshadowed, which are so firmly laid down that if they did not line up with them you would wonder if your theology was correct.

In order to know with knowledge we have to test these things against the well established blueprints and to do this properly I should first give an overview of the Virgin Daughter of Zion.

Just prior to and just entering into the 70 year Babylonian captivity the prophets use metaphors about the Virgin Daughter of Zion giving birth to her firstborn. The Captivity of Israel was devastating, a very depressing time for Israel. It was a pretty big deal. This captivity symbolizes death.

Moses will assist us first in illustrating this idea.

When Israel went into Egypt and was enslaved there, that was a symbolic death. The structure is here in its events. Israel symbolic death In Egypt and then a savior is born who was called Moses, they tried to kill baby Moses, so on and so forth. Moses saved them and brought them out of Egypt and instituted the Passover lamb as they were leaving. All symbols of death, sacrifice and a savior then they come out of Egypt and are free which is life.

For an in depth showcase on the symbolism of the Passover Lamb check this out: Topic: Religion

Then that same structure is retold again when they are in the desert, Isreal dies because God kills many of them (Literally) and they waited years until a whole new generation was born before they could enter the promised land. Moses could not enter in, hes the figure of the OT, the Old generation of Jews could not enter in either, a whole new generation had to be born, and then Joshua which is Jesus Hebrew name converted into English brings them into the promised land which is the second coming of Jesus.

Again

Back to Moses. He threw down and destroyed the two tables of stone Exodus 32:19, and then God made a new pair of stone ten commandments. This symbolizes the two covenants. 1 dies, the other is born, as it were. These are all "symbolic" and not literal, if you take them literally you wont understand it. The death of Jesus signified the point when the OT was replaced by the the atoning blood of Jesus. Realize that God never forsook the Jews, in fact He sent His only begotten son to save them. That salvation is open to all, it was the Jews who forsook God.

Next we have Joseph. Joseph was put in prison in Egypt beside two others, the baker and the kings cup bearer, the baker was later hanged for his crimes, but the cupbearer was reinstated next to pharaoh, this is Josephs symbolic death being in prison, of course he comes out and then rises to position next to pharaoh over all his kingdom as Jesus ascended to the right hand of the Father and is over all His kingdom. It foretold of Jesus death on the cross, and the two thieves, one died on the cross with no hope, but the other went to paradise.

By these things we understand the symbolism of dying and consequently a new birth. Israel’s captivity into Babylon is no different, it symbolizes death, but we also need a new birth, this is where the Virgin Daughter of Zion comes in who figuratively gives birth, it gave the prophetic hope of new life despite their dark situation of their current captivity, it followed the established blueprints, echoing the footprints of the past.

The prophets inspired by God foreshadowed it again in such a way that those who knew their history could look forward to that hope that once saved them in time past because they would know that it happened before so many times, and we know that God likes to repeat things. A deliverer, a savior was to be expected. This is why during the captivity we have Daniel writing about the Messiah. They were expecting it because they knew what was written.

Oh noo, no, no, the prophets were not merely trying to communicate the pain of Israel, there was something much more important and much deeper and way more meaningful than that being talked about in the Virgin Daughter of Zion, it was along the lines of when Israel went into slavery in Egypt and then a savior, Moses the deliverer brought them out, and when Joseph was in prison but came out with great power and glory as Christ did at His resurrection and sat at the right hand of the Father. This is the prophetic hope that the prophets spoke of, a virgin birth at the time of their Babylonian captivity, there would be life on the other side. It all made sense.

The two symbols we are trying to understand are,
1. the Virgin Daughter of Zion giving birth.
2. and at the same time Israel going into captivity, being the second symbol which is death.

Here is a great story that synthesis it in a more personal level.

With Rachel we have both the death and new life. Jacob had two wives, Rachel and Lea who represent the two covenants. Rachel only had 2 sons by Jacob, Joseph being the first, and Benjamin being the second, which also represent the two covenants. So we have the two son’s blueprint. Joseph is already born, he’s in Egypt thought to be dead (Like the first stone tablets, like the first covenant), then Rachel bears Benjamin but she dies in child bearing.(Benjamin is the second born, the second stone tablets, the second or New Testament, the old dies in order than that the new may take its place just as the New Testament did not come into being until after the death of Jesus. So when Rachel died giving birth to the second born, it was another blueprint from yet another perspective of how the events would later unfold in the future. Rachel symbolizes in that context Israel and her captivity...but something comes out of it later.)

Israel never died, but metaphorically speaking died symbolically while in captivity, yet she gave birth to new life which was the greatest blessing that the world has ever had, baby Jesus born of the virgin Mary. The MESSIAH had entered into the world, the savior to redeem mankind from death, the death of sin and the New Testament was born by His atoning sacrifice on the cross by which we have forgiveness of sins, this that metaphorical Child who was born through the Virgin Daughter of Zion

Happy Holidays everyone!
