Muslim women and the hijab (Page 3)

Zanjan: My evidence is in the most wrongful of injustices in the Muslim world - the deprivation of human rights, murders, and gross materialism in the Muslim world. However, I judge the Muslim world differently than each Muslim, individually.

Zanjan: I fully understand why Muslim women DESIRE to wear the Hijab - I respect their desire. That doesn't mean I trust the individual because they're wearing one.

Zanjan: If your intent is to encourage more Muslim women to wear the hijab, that's your business but it wont change the modern world, it wont make it a better place. The world today needs what will remedy its own illnesses and issues.

A main issue is "prejudice" and all God's people should all be working hard to eliminate them in every form.

Zanjan: At my age, I can assure you that just trying on a bikini behind closed doors would be offensive even to myself!
Now I ask you, what sort of people go to the beach or pool to see women in swimsuits? Many of us prefer a water spot that has no people on it at all but that's hard to find.

It is better to love people for the sake of God. I'd definitely rescue a flailing, shark-bitten swimmer, be they dressed to the hilt or naked. One brings a blanket to cover them because they're frigid and bleeding. Shock kills more people than injuries.

Zanjan: I've been thinking about the gradual de-sensitization of the western world to exposure of skin, head and body shapes.

Recalling how offended society was at first by women who went bra-less under their garments, I was one of those who had direct daily experience with that. People had no memory of a generation that didn't have bras. The same offense occurred when men started wearing hats into a building and wouldn't take them off their heads to eat dinner.

There was an uproar when women started wearing short skirts and tight clothing, again when both genders began piercing unusual body parts, spraying their hair purple, shaving their heads, and undergoing massive tattooing. It was all good because it was seen as liberation from oppressively regimented conformity.

That's all behind us now. Nobody blinks an eye when a woman wears a dress with a neckline that plunges to the waistline, with material so thin it has to be glued to the body to stay put. Nobody stares at a 400 pound person or anorexic 95 pounder, who can't find clothes to fit properly or when someone wears shredded jeans. We walk right past an unkempt homeless person because we don't notice them. The shock value of outward appearances has disappeared.

That's all good so, today, we celebrate both freedom and diversity. What is there left to shock us anymore? How will someone stand out from this mix and attract attention to themselves?

What shocks us now is inhuman and uncivilized treatment of others. So, if what you're doing is sending that message into society, it's time to re-think your ways.

Zanjan: Remember, there was a time when religious people, despite their scriptural laws to do so, had to stop making live animal sacrifices.

The wisdom here is understanding that spiritual laws never change, only *social* laws do - that's what the Revelators changed because the times required it. "Know the signs of the times", They all said.

Zanjan: First video - she omitted something; she should have done her research. In the Baha'i Faith, both genders have equal status - administratively, employment, leadership and all other privileges, regardless of one's culture. This was NOT the case in former religions, including Islam.

The United Nations didn't copy Islam, as she claims. This institution came about as a direct result of the New World Order, launched by Baha'u'llah, Who specifically described it and petitioned world leaders by letter of the need to do this - arrange for both a world parliament and a congress of world political and religious leaders (that is, Summits) and so forth. In the Baha'i Faith, consultation is a law of God.

Initially, His message was ignored; consequently, two world wars occurred and 99% of the world's monarchies fell before the nations realized He was right. Thus, the United Nations was formed.

The video's speaker grew up in the western world, which is far more progressive than the Muslim world in the Eastern Hemisphere. Kudos to her for her work to bring Muslims up to speed, using the Word of God to do it. Maybe her next trip could be to Iran?

Zanjan: Second video - is that even remotely realistic? In the western world, females don't group in such masses - they prefer mixed company. They also know that guys aren't saints either.

We've seen many females, reaching for high positions, have tried to be guy-like because they don't understand how else to obtain power, which is the wrong thing for anyone, including men to seek. Leadership is influence and service, not power.

However, the Director and Chair of the World Monetary Fund, Christine Lagarde, recently stated in an interview that the world is beginning to learn that when the situation is too difficult to solve, you need to bring in the women. That's what the Table of Consultation means - it's inclusive (formerly known as the round table).

She said, "There must be adults in the room". So, it seems to me it would be most helpful if those women also happened to be mothers.

xylance: Two wrongs don't make a right. If you leave the keys in the ignition of a car is it ok for me to steal it? If we use Muslim logic it would be because there's no culpability for their own behaviour.

xylance: Muslims worry too much about others do and nothing about what they do.
If you can only respect women who wear scarfs you are actually respecting the scarf (a piece of material)....not the women. It's like saying I respect all men....but only those sat in a Lamborghini. It's a shallow meaningless premise and to respect a piece of material is worthless in every sense.

firstdown857: XYLANCE Hijaab

"But every woman that prayed or prophesized with her head uncovered dishonoured her head. For if the woman be not covered let her also be shaven. But if it be a shame for a woman to be shaven, let her be covered." (1 Corinthians 11:5-6)
"..So She (Rebecca) took her VEIL and she covered herself up " (Genesis 24:62-65)
"Women are not to wear men's clothing and men are not to wear women's clothing. The Lord your God hates people who do such things" (Deuteronomy 22:5)
"Do not use outward aids to make yourself beautiful through the way you do your hair or the jewellery you put on or the dresses you wear " (1 Peter 3:3-4)

Allah said:

"O Prophet! Tell your wives and daughters and the women of the believers to draw their veils all over their bodies. That will better, that they should be known so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is ever Oft-Forgiving, Most Merciful" (Quran 33:59)
