It doesn't make sense to legislate a law when it's already been legislated. It stands until it's abrogated by God. The Romans were pagans. All religions of God have their own Calendar, which they follow 365 days a year - the days in the year are the same number. There is no clash because they don't celebrate each others holidays. Everybody wants a day off and those can be arranged with one's employer. If you were born on the corn moon, that aint gonna change no matter what day you call it. Like the dreadful daylight savings time, it doesn't exist on my days off and the cows still need to be milked when they're ready. It's only officially 22 years old (not including the hard work done on it the previous 20 years) and has experienced many dramatic changes since its inception. Something with such a short shelf life isn't worth mentioning. It was merely an experiment - a first, wobbly attempt at unity. Remember the League of Nations? The Bible does speak of the problems of disunity, advising against it but that's never stopped anyone from breaking off with a partner or into divisive groups. People don't really know how to maintain unity - it's a great lesson they need to learn, never more important than it is right now. We know full well that Great Britain has notoriously been a divided land since time immemorial - calling it the United Kingdom hasn't changed anything in the hearts of the people. The British Prime Minister has said this move is irreversible. I disagree - man WILL learn his lessons eventually and another, although different co-operative alliance of some sort will be struck in future. Mark my words. The day I turned to religion, my life drastically changed for the better - I've been clean ever since because I've got something with which to compare. How is it you'd discourage a young person from discovering that themselves? It's not what you believe, it's what you internalize; that's what you contribute to society.
