bainyu: I respect the Old Testament, and its significance is much more than it reads. I respect God's word. This is a problem orthodox Jews have. Waiting for a completed promise.

Like I said before.. youre a prisoner waiting for freedom... how about you ask the guard to let you out.... He the only one who has the key. If you dont ask then youll never be free.

Laura _: bainyu yes there was a Sabbath before the law! the Sabbath was created in the beginning. You can see this at the Exodus, the Hebrew children were told not to collect the manna on the Sabbath to get extra the day before.

Yes Abraham obeyed God's law !! "because Abraham obeyed My voice and kept My charge, My commandments, My statues, and My laws Genesis 26:5

No Jesus did not work on the Sabbath! Jesus only followed His heavenly Father. He did not have to do any of the man-made stuff from the Talmud.

Laura _: Cena baby No Apostles did not celebrate the Sabbath on Sunday! I will post the scripts again soon.

At the time of Christ, the Roman Empire called the first day of the week "the Lord's (Emperor's) Day because Sunday was the day the emperor received his treasury payments. Sun-worshiping pagans also celebrated Sunday as " the venerable day of the Sun."

Why do most Christians celebrate on Sunday? Because Satan has deceived the whole world like the Bible says. Most Christians support the 10 commandments except the fourth honoring the Sabbath. I believe it is pure stubbornness, choosing man-made traditions over God's Sabbaths.

chay chayi: Carrying on Sabbath is one of the tasks, the Torah says you should not do any work on Sabbath, but does not say what goes in the category of work, but God told Moses those 40 days what work is, and this is what the Talmud says

Laura _: See that is exactly what I mean, the Talmud is not God's word. God never meant the Sabbath to be a burden with all those man-made rules.

God wants us to enjoy the Sabbath and get closer to him. The Talmud was used to control people.

Jesus did not have to obey the Talmud with it's silly restrictions. Jesus can heal on the Sabbath !

Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath!!

chay chayi: Healing is not work, and its allowed, Enjoying Sabbath is when you don't work, and only then you have God's spirit and blessing, but its only for the Jews, non Jews are only on belief, not rules, Non Jews only have 7 commands, even the 10 commandments were only for the Jews, it was part of the 613 commands, God wanted to tell all commands, but they couldn't stand God's holiness, so they said that Moses should continue, then Moses remained on the mountain for 40 days, and God told him everything, then he told everything to the Jews

Non Jews are not commanded to obey any rules that was given for the Jews, its the covenant between God and the Jews, Sabbath was only given for the Jews, not for other people

Exodus
12 And the Lord said to Moses, 13 "You are to speak to the people of Israel and say, 'Above all you shall keep my Sabbaths, for this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you. 14 You shall keep the Sabbath, because it is holy for you. Everyone who profanes it shall be put to death. Whoever does any work on it, that soul shall be cut off from among his people. 15 Six days shall work be done, but the seventh day is a Sabbath of solemn rest, holy to the Lord. Whoever does any work on the Sabbath day shall be put to death. 16 Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever. 17 It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel that in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, and on the seventh day he rested and was refreshed. '"
18 And he gave to Moses, when he had finished speaking with him on Mount Sinai, the two tablets of the testimony, tablets of stone, written with the finger of God.
---------------------------------------------------

"For this is a sign between me and you throughout your generations" that you may know that I, the Lord, sanctify you.

"Therefore the people of Israel shall keep the Sabbath, observing the Sabbath throughout their generations, as a covenant forever"

"It is a sign forever between me and the people of Israel"

Laura _: Christ was Master of the Sabbath--not a slave to it,as the Pharisees promoted. Jesus refused to comply with the restrictions that caused controversy on His holy day. He announced His Lordship even on the Sabbath day and His authority to reinstate the spiritual purposes that He originally intended...from the book 'Ten Commandments Twice Removed"

Laura _: The Sabbath was created for man, not just the Jews. The Sabbath was in force before the Jews were a people. Abraham celebrated the Sabbath. We Christians are grafted in the Jewish family also.

chay chayi: Laura, you talk out of your stomach, i showed you the verse in Exodus that says its a sign and covenant between God an the Jews

There is no such thing a man is God, i already clarified that a Messiah is a man that has God's spirit dwelling in him on the highest level able in human soul, a Messiah has to obey God totally, and only because someone and the Messiah obeys God, has he God's spirit, to have God's holy spirit dwelling in him is only how he obeys God, action and spirit are chained one to the other, like the soul and spirit basically are chained to the body

Cenababy: "I am talking to you Gentiles, Inasmuch as I am the apostle to the Gentiles, I make much of my ministry "in the hope that I may somehow arouse my own people to envy and save some of them".

"If some of the branches have been broken off, and you, though a wild olive shoot *(Gentiles) have been grafted in among the others and now share in the nourishing sap from the olive root, "do not boast over those branches". If you do, consider this: you do not support the but the root supports you. "Do not be arrogant, but be afraid. For if God did not spare the natural branches,(the Jews) he will not spare you either".

Cenababy: Jesus ministry caused many changes in the law — changes so dramatic that laws were “set aside” or declared “obsolete” (Hebrews 7:18; 8:13). Some laws remained the same, some were changed, and others were “abolished” (Ephesians 2:15).

When Jesus said, “I have not come to abolish the Law or the Prophets,” he did not mean that each specific law would stay exactly the same. He meant that the purpose and message of the Law and the Prophets remain exactly the same. The Law and the Prophets pointed to him and were intended from the beginning to be fulfilled by him.

Some of the specific laws of the old covenant are still valid, but many of them were set aside when Jesus came and fulfilled them by his life, death and resurrection. Matthew 5:17 is not a “proof” of any particular law, because this verse does not tell us which specific laws are still valid or which have been changed or set aside.

Old covenant laws (such as the laws of sacrifice) have been set aside precisely because Jesus has fulfilled them. He did not come for the purpose of destroying those laws, but for fulfilling their meaning. However, by fulfilling their meaning, he made it unnecessary for Christians to keep those laws. They are unnecessary because they have served their purpose by pointing to Jesus. He is the reality to which they could only point. Now that he has come, they are no longer legally binding.

Yet because they point to Jesus Christ and show how God interacted with a group of people at one time and place, the old covenant laws continue to give us insights into God’s will. Even the laws of sacrifice are “useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness” (2 Timothy 3:16).

Jesus did not emphasize the same things Moses did. Moses wrote many chapters about the tabernacle and the “place” in which God put his name. Jesus said that place did not matter (John 4:20-24). Moses wrote many chapters about ritual uncleanness; Jesus was much less concerned about it. Instead, Jesus gave much more emphasis to the way people should treat each other.

The law of Moses required many animal sacrifices, but because of the sacrificial death of Jesus, the sacrifices are no longer required. Moses wrote that sins could be atoned for through the performance of rituals, but this was a temporary and external atonement; Jesus simply forgave people as a permanent gift and a cleansed conscience. Jesus often told people to obey God, but Moses is not the standard by which obedience is now measured.

6. Who is the final authority for Christians? Matthew 7:21-29; 10:32-33, 39; 19:29; 28:18-20; John 3:25-26; 6:29; 14:21-23; 17:2-3.

Moses said one thing, but Jesus said another (Matthew 5:21-45). Jesus presented himself as the greater authority, the perfect authority, the basis on which people will be judged. Our lives should conform to the standard Jesus set, not the imperfect standard Moses wrote.

In Christianity, some of the laws of Moses are still valid, and others are not (for an example of each, the law about murder and the law about tassels). How do we know which is valid and which is obsolete? The New Testament is the authority by which the old covenant is to be understood.

Although the Old Testament is inspired Scripture and part of the Word of God, its purpose was to point to the coming and work of Jesus Christ. Therefore, when it comes to understanding what is required for Christian behavior, the Old Testament must be interpreted in light of what the New Testament says — and the New Testament says that the old covenant is obsolete (Hebrews 8:13).

Christians and the Religion Room Part II

I think that being a Christian somehow should give you "more heart" more humility, more meekness, more tolerance, less judgement against others. I don't see that in some Christians that come on here!

Could they be so caught up in the way they are taught, or insane, that they don't see what harm they do to others? And how is their walk, there delivery bringing atheist/agnostics to JESUS? Don't they see that others see them as some (holier than vow human being that is looking down on all other humans)? and that is the exact behavior that people RUN from? I have stated many times to people such as Bruce, that his delivery is what runs people off, they completely tune him out everytime he comes in the room, he is doing absolutely no good in that room. It is almost as if he gets some kind of joy condemning people to hell! Who does he think he is? what causes people to act this way? I CAN TELL YOU.....EGO mixed in with a little "devil made me do that"!! It is not GOD that wants you to act that way to anyone, but satan? oh my does he want you to be disobient, nothing makes him happier!

Just because you are a Christian does not mean you are better than everyone else, period! You are just as tiny as they are, the difference should be though, that you are applying Jesus teachings to your life and striving to be the best you can be! Are you being the best you can be when you are not loving and hurting other human beings? Do you not realize that GOD IS NOT FINISHED WITH THEM YET! how dare you think you are bigger than JESUS and have the ability to see their hearts and inside of their minds! YOU need to clean your own glass house, and walk with humility, meekness, love, humble yourself to others. Yes, plant the seed and water it "with your delivery" then they might just say, HEY, I want what he/she has....and I promise if you show a great delivery, people will flock to you!
