Lord of the Sabbath (Page 4) Laura _: 1 John 3:24 Now he who keeps His commandments abides in Him, and He in him. And by this we know that He abides in us, by the Spirit whom He has given us. bainyu: . 14 When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel, I said to Peter in front of them all, "You are a Jew, yet you live like a Gentile and not like a Jew. How is it, then, that you force Gentiles to follow Jewish customs? .. 16 know that a man is not justified by observing the law, but by faith in Jesus Christ. So we, too, have put our faith in Christ Jesus that we may be justified by faith in Christ and not by observing the law, because by observing the law no one will be justified. 19 For through the law I died to the law so that I might live for God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. ...21 I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!" 1 You foolish Galatians! Who has bewitched you? 2 I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by observing the law, or by believing what you heard? 3 Are you so foolish? After beginning with the Spirit, are you now trying to attain your goal by human effort? ....5 Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard? 6 Consider Abraham: "He believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness." 7 Understand, then, that those who believe are children of Abraham .... 10 All who rely on observing the law are under a curse... 11 Clearly no one is justified before God by the law, because, "The righteous will live by faith." 12 The law is not based on faith; on the contrary.... 17 What I mean is this: The law, introduced 430 years later, does not set aside the covenant previously established by God and thus do away with the promise. 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on a promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. 19 What, then, was the purpose of the law? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was put into effect through angels by a mediator. 20 A mediator, however, does not represent just one party; but God is one. 21 Is the law, therefore, opposed to the promises of God? Absolutely not! For if a law had been given that could impart life, then righteousness would certainly have come by the law. Read Galations. GRACE=Jesus chay chayi: That's why God killed John through that king, because he spoke and executed God's laws, God gave the laws you should follow them, and its easy, what's so hard of not killing ?? or not stealing ??? resting on Sabbath ?? etc. God gave the laws and said that all Jews should live by all those laws, and any Jews that brakes a law will be punished, and they got punished, this was the problem with Jesus and his followers (the Jews, but the gentiles are only commanded 7 laws) that they were executed, no such thing as faith but no laws, laws and faith go together, if you brake the laws, your faith is sick, if you murder etc, your faith will not save you from the crime of murder, simple, so with all the laws Gentiles were never commanded with the 613 laws, even the 10 commandments were only for the Jews, gentiles only have 7 commands Jews ARE chosen, and the 613 commands are the covenant with the Jews, Jews were chosen out from all people and nations, all others are gentiles, if you are Jealous about the covenant of the Jews, the only way is to accept all the laws and convert to the covenant Chosen means that their soul and spirit is closer to God, this means God's chosen, God's nation, God's blessed people, God's children, and the laws are only made for God's children that have his holy soul and spirit (Edited by chay chayi) bainyu: I dont doubt God loves Jews. I have a thought about this. My strong believe/ idea that I know its true. The ONLY reason the Jews are a chosen people is not because thay are better by any means. The only reason God cares for the ISRAELITES is because of JESUS. Now God had to choose Jesus' lineage. Now the whole bible and everything that happened in the past was to forshadow and line things up for JESUS CHRIST. Now dont think you are better by any means than that. The only reason God chose you is because Jesus needed to come from a lineage and it just HAPPENED to be yours. Its not because you guys were born and were somehow better in yourself. Its not because of you and since itnis not because of you there is no reason for you to be prodeful. I love them and respect them because of Jesus. Christians are Just as much Gods children as Jews are. God just keeps His word and covenants. So Jews do have an everlasting covenant that is forever. But I think being a gentile is pretty great. I dont want to be a Jew but I love and Admire Gods covenant with the Israelites. chay chayi: Jews are chosen Exodus 4:22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith the LORD, Israel is my son, even my firstborn: 4:23 And I say unto thee, Let my son go, that he may serve me: and if thou refuse to let him go, behold, I will slay thy son, even thy firstborn. 6:7 And I will take you to me for a people, and I will be to you a God: and ye shall know that I am the LORD your God, which bringeth you out from under the burdens of the Egyptians. -------------------------------------------------------- Now comes the clear verse 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. --------------------------------------------------------- Deuteronomy 7:6 For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. -------------------------------------------------------- God chose Israel to be his son, his nation, his people, he gave his all words, commands, wisdom and knowledge, grace and glory and shine to Israel chay chayi: Again Exodus 19:5 Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine: 19:6 And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. (Edited by chay chayi) bainyu: AGAIN. why are they chosen? Dont act like Jews are superior by nature. The reason you were chosen is because of Jesus. You were made special and set apart because of who would come from that nation. You are not special on your own. You have nothing to boast about. The only reason Israel was set a part is because of JESUS. Jesus bainyu: I want to know also. Why God chose Jews? He chose the Jews before the foundation of the earth. So why is that? God could have chose ANY group of people. Its because wgod set up and prepared a lineage for Christ to come from. This was premeditated. This was planned. Its was all about Jesus chay chayi: Jews are those souls that are the good and holy, their soul are holy and clean, It started from Abraham, and it goes till the end of the days The laws are not Moses's laws, they are God's laws, and Abraham started to follow God's laws and it went further to Isaac and then to Jacob, and so on till the time of Moses after the Jews were purified by the sufferings in Egypt, then they were pure to be accomplished with all God's laws, and this goes on till the end of the days, then the Messiah will come after the 2,000 years of the sufferings of Israel, (now its 1947 years, remains 53 years) the Messiah will come and the 3rd Temple will be built for ever chay chayi: Abraham started to follow God's laws and commands, it was not only faith, it was together with God's laws Genesis 18:18 Seeing that Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him. 18:19 For I know him, that he will command his children and his household after him, and they shall keep the way of the LORD, to do justice and judgment; that the LORD may bring upon Abraham that which he hath spoken of him. 26:4 And I will make thy seed to multiply as the stars of heaven, and will give unto thy seed all these countries; and in thy seed shall all the nations of the earth be blessed; 26:5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. ------------------------------------------------------------------- And this is the Jewish nation, like God said to Abraham, that his children Israel will be his blessed and holy nation and children, that they all follow God's laws, and God said again and again, its because they follow and obey God's laws And again, its not Moses's laws, they are God's laws (Edited by chay chayi) chay chayi: Psalms 119 119:1 Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD. 119:2 Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart. 119:3 They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways. 119:4 Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently. 119:5 O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes! 119:6 Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments. 119:10 With my whole heart have I sought thee: O let me not wander from thy commandments. 119:19 I am a stranger in the earth: hide not thy commandments from me. 119:21 Thou hast rebuked the proud that are cursed, which do err from thy commandments. 119:32 I will run the way of thy commandments, when thou shalt enlarge my heart. 119:33 Teach me, O LORD, the way of thy statutes; and I shall keep it unto the end. 119:34 Give me understanding, and I shall keep thy law; yea, I shall observe it with my whole heart. 119:35 Make me to go in the path of thy commandments; for therein do I delight. 119:36 Incline my heart unto thy testimonies, and not to covetousness. 119:47 And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.light. 119:48 My hands also will I lift up unto thy commandments, which I have loved; and I will meditate in thy statutes. 119:53 Horror hath taken hold upon me because of the wicked that forsake thy law. 119:55 I have remembered thy name, O LORD, in the night, and have kept thy law. 119:60 I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments. 119:61 The bands of the wicked have robbed me: but I have not forgotten thy law. 119:66 Teach me good judgment and knowledge: for I have believed thy commandments. 119:70 Their heart is as fat as grease; but I delight in thy law. 119:72 The law of thy mouth is better unto me than thousands of gold and silver. 119:73 Thy hands have made me and fashioned me: give me understanding, that I may learn thy commandments. 119:77 Let thy tender mercies come unto me, that I may live: for thy law is my delight. 119:85 The proud have digged pits for me, which are not after thy law. 119:86 All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me. 119:96 I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad. 119:97 O how I love thy law! it is my meditation all the day. 119:98 Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me. 119:109 My soul is continually in my hand: yet do I not forget thy law. 119:115 Depart from me, ye evildoers: for I will keep the commandments of my God. 119:126 It is time for thee, LORD, to work: for they have made void thy law. 119:127 Therefore I love thy commandments above gold; yea, above fine gold. 119:131 I opened my mouth, and panted: for I longed for thy commandments. 119:138 Thy testimonies that thou hast commanded are righteous and very faithful. 119:143 Trouble and anguish have taken hold on me: yet thy commandments are my delights. 119:150 They draw nigh that follow after mischief: they are far from thy law. 119:151 Thou art near, O LORD; and all thy commandments are truth. 119:153 Consider mine affliction, and deliver me: for I do not forget thy law. 119:163 I hate and abhor lying: but thy law do I love. 119:166 LORD, I have hoped for thy salvation, and done thy commandments. 119:172 My tongue shall speak of thy word: for all thy commandments are righteousness. 119:174 I have longed for thy salvation, O LORD; and thy law is my delight. 119:176 I have gone astray like a lost sheep; seek thy servant; for I do not forget thy commandments.. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- This is the longest Psalm of all its psalms, and its all about God's laws and commands, that David kept it with all his heart and soul and love, and that's why he was chosen to be the king of Israel, and the kingdom was lost from his children because they did not obey and follow God's laws and commands I made it shortly from the entire Psalm 119, but its better you should see the entire Psalm 119 Laura _: Bainyu Please understand I have a deep love for my brothers and sisters in Christ who have a misunderstanding of what Paul was saying in some of his Gospels concerning being "under the law" So much could be said and needs to be broke down. I will do my best to hopefully give Christians a desire to seek the Truth out. Galatians 3:13 Christ has redeemed us from the CURSE of the law.( the curse is not the law.) Redeemed us from the consequences of breaking God's law...death....Not the LAW. Your example is of young grown men being told the need to be Circumcised. Paul says in Corinthians 7:19 Circumcision is nothing and uncircumcision is nothing, but keeping the commandments of God is what matters. Laura _: The English word for law is translated from the Greek word nomos. In Greek society, the concept of law still held positive, honorable and instructive substance. As this word traveled the translation process it took on a much heavier connotation. As early has the third century A.D. the so-called Church fathers had already begun to denigrate this word. Law was being taught a product of 'the Jew" As western culture progressed the concept of law grew more and more negative. The whole scriptural concept of law and bondage were reversed.Law was taught has bondage not SIN. Info taken from Wildbranch Ministries..A Messianic Rabbi gives much teaching on this subj. Zanjan: Chay, you accuse Jesus of being false because He maintained some laws of God but changed other laws of God. Under that same accusation, then Moses is false too - you see, Moses maintained some of the same laws of Abraham but changed laws too. You're as guilty as Christians. 5 Because that Abraham obeyed my voice, and kept my charge, my commandments, my statutes, and my laws. What were God's Laws and statutes to Abraham? He wasn't a Jew. His was the Hebrew religion of God Genesis 17: 10-14 " 10 This is my requirement that you and your descendants after you must keep: Every male among you must be circumcised. 11 You must circumcise the flesh of your foreskins. This will be a reminder of the covenant between me and you. 12 Throughout your generations every male among you who is eight days old must be circumcised, whether born in your house or bought with money from any foreigner who is not one of your descendants. 13 They must indeed be circumcised, whether born in your house or bought with money. The sign of my covenant will be visible in your flesh as a permanent reminder. 14 Any uncircumcised male who has not been circumcised in the flesh of his foreskin will be cut off from his people – he has failed to carry out my requirement.” Do you still circumcise men who live in your house who are foreigners, and not relatives? Abraham gave Melchzedek, Priest of God Most high, a tenth of everything - do you do that? The Mormons do - they're supposed to be Christians and every man who becomes a Mormon is also an Elder in the church, an ordained Aaronic Priest of the Mechezedek Priesthood. (they don't need to take a test or college degree for that; it's merely based on knowing the history of the church) I could say some things here but I wont. Can you have slaves? Are you permitted to have more than one wife? Do your Jews still marry half sisters? Can you have concubines? Well, it seems no one knows all of the laws Abraham followed and gave to His people but one thing is certain, God made new laws for the Jews. (Edited by Zanjan) Zanjan: Laura, I don't know what was taught about laws vs bondage but bondage means slavery - in spiritual terms, the tethers of self is what prevented the people from accessing the divine spirit. chay chayi: Again speaking out of plain empty air, with out knowing about it, maybe try to ask ??? but making statements that are not ?? Abraham had many laws, not only circumcision, he was a prophet, God told him many laws, and he learned from Shem, the command of circumcision was a new command for Abraham and his children, and God added his commands to Moses completely, so what's exactly is this Abraham thing now, nothing was changed, God added to Moses up to 613 commands basically, with lots of details Circumcision foreigners, is only if they were "bought" as slaves, and this only goes on when a Temple is built Yes, we give a tenth for charity, but really its not the real command, and it does not apply to today, because giving a Tenth is only to the priest from the tribe of Levi that were performing all the work in the Temple, they had no other work, and God commanded to give them a Tenth of everything you earn, not money, but growing food and animals, in Abrahams time was no Jewish nation, and no Temple, and no tribe of Levi working in God's house, so he gave it to that priest in his time Yes we are permitted to have as many wives we want, its only that some Rabbis because there were trouble and problems because people were wicked, so they said that you should only have one wife, but according to the basically law you may have as many wives you want, and this was not made by Rabbis of the Talmud, a lot of time further, like thousand years after the Talmud, in the time of the Talmud there were marriage to more than one wife Half sisters was forbidden by God when he gave the 613 laws, Abraham did not have yet all 613 laws To have concubines is basically not forbidden, but we want to be more holy so we are not on that ways, its not a command you should have concubines, its better not to have, but its not forbidden So basically, God added laws when we became his nation, and this is the covenant, the Israel nation were more than Abraham, the time of giving the Torah was the accomplished status of God's people, Israel was called children to God, Abraham was not called a child, only a lover and friend Zanjan: You can't name the laws and statutes of Abraham, besides circumcision, because you don't know them. "God added to Moses up to 613 commands basically, with lots of details" So, God changed His laws by adding, and He abolished the half sister thing by subtracting. If that wasn't change, what is it? So, you don't tithe because God changed the law of Priesthood by destroying it - what Jesus said. God permitted Abraham to engage in polygamy but forbid Jews to do it - that's not change? The Jews knew what adultery was. Just like Jesus did, clearly forbidding it, as well as stressing monogamy. The more you talk, Chay, the more it seems like you were forced into a change of God's laws via Moses and Jesus. (Edited by Zanjan) bainyu: Laura. Circumsicion is one of Gods commands. I understand what paul was saying in galations.. but do you? If the law makes one righteous than why did Jesus come? What is the whole point of Jesus coming? Because it does NOT GAL 3 18 For if the inheritance depends on the law, then it no longer depends on the promise; but God in his grace gave it to Abraham through a promise. 19 Why, then, was the law given at all? It was added because of transgressions until the Seed to whom the promise referred had come. The law was given through angels and entrusted to a mediator. 20 A mediator, however, implies more than one party; but God is one. The seed, JESUS has already come. Chay. I'm a seed of abraham through faith 26 So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith, 27 for all of you who were baptized into Christ have clothed yourselves with Christ. 28 There is neither Jew nor Gentile, neither slave nor free, nor is there male and female, for you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 If you belong to Christ, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise. And I have read psalms.. believers do follow Gods word/law which is the bible Laura and chay explain this to me.... 2 Mark my words! I, Paul, tell you that if you let yourselves be circumcised, Christ will be of no value to you at all. 3 Again I declare to every man who lets himself be circumcised that he is obligated to obey the whole law. 4 You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision nor uncircumcision has any value. The only thing that counts is faith expressing itself through love Then now explain this to me 13 You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh[a]; rather, serve one another humbly in love. 14 For the entire law is fulfilled in keeping this one command: “Love your neighbor as yourself.” 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. Does being led by the spirit mean following the law or Christ? Does the spirit emphasize law or Christ. Is pauls message law or christ? bainyu: And laura... What the law does is make us a slave to sin. If you are placing your trust in your efforts to do the law then you are UNDER THE LAW making grace void to you. The law is not bad. The law IS Holy and perfect. You are not understanding. God gave the Israelites their statutes. There is the ten commandments which God's LAW and then there is the mosaic law. Now there are many specific things God told th Israelites. How society should act and what they must do. Its Gods way of guiding them. NOW God set that up before Christ. But when Christ came everything became UNDER HIM. We look to Him for righteousness and the fruits of the spirit. It is JESUS who we are under. 16 I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. 17 For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish. 18 But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law. |
