Religious events on this day.

GeraldtheGnome: ABKHAZIA : JANUARY : 11. The Feast of Saint Theodosius the Cenobiarch is celebrated on this day, so to are January 11 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) which include the feast of the Afterfeast of the Theophany of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ. the feasts of quite a number of Saints, the of the feasts of New Martyrs and that of new confessors, as well as the commemorations of the Synaxis of the Myriads of the Holy Angels, the Consecration of the Church of Saint Stephen in Placidia Palace, Constantinople, the commemoration of the Cherginov-Eletskaya Icon of the most Holy Theotokos and that of the Repose of the Blessed Nun Eupraxia of Teliakov village, Kostroma. All of those feast, celebrations and commemorations are celebrated in Abkhazia and of those of the Eastern Orthodox Church around the world. The other event the Eastern Orthodox Church celebrate on this day is the Triodion, it is the liturgical book used by the Eastern Orthodox Church containing the propers for the fasting period preceding Easter and for the few weeks leading up to the fast. It is not a holiday in Abkhazia in in any other part of the world.

AFGHANISTAN : JANUARY : 11. The feasts for Saint Leucius of Brindisi and that of Saint Vitalis of Gaza are held by Roman Catholics in Afghanistan and of wherever Roman Catholics were elsewhere in the world. There is no holiday in Afghanistan on this day. As above in regards to Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox ceremonies, I have no information if they do celebrate those religious events in Afghanistan or not.

(FINLAND) Aland : JANUARY : 11. See above, but replace Afghanistan for Aland.

(USA) Alaska : JANUARY : 11. See above, but replace Aland for Alaska.

ALBANIA : JANUARY : 11. See above, but replace Alaska for Albania.

ANTARCTICA : ALL BASES, FIELD CAMPS, ETC REPRESENTED BY ALL COUNTRIES THAT HAVE PEOPLE DOWN IN ANTARCTICA : JANUARY : 11. The Roman Catholic Feasts of Saint Leucius of Brindisi, Saint Vitalis of Gaza and Saint Paulinus II of Aqueileia might celebrated on this day by all Roman Catholics in Antarctica or not, I don't have enough information to tell you which of the two it would be. It is not a religious holiday for any of them. The feasts of Saint Theodosius of Cenobiarch, the January 11 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) feasts of the Afterfeast of the Theophany of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, the feasts of numerous Saints, also the feasts of New Martyrs and of New Confessors, as well as that of the commemorations of the Synaxis of the Myriads of the Holy Angels, the Consecration of the Church of Saint Stephen in Placidia Palace in Constantinople. the commemorations of the Chernigov-Eletskaya Icon of the most Holy Theokotos and of the Repose of the blessed Nun Eupraxia of Teliakov village in Kostromo are all celebrated on this day by those of the Eastern Orthodox Church only. It is not a religious holiday for any one that is of the Eastern Orthodox Church.

ANTARCTICA : JANUARY : 11. At the current moment explorers Ben Saunders and Tarka L'Herpiniere are either stationary or on the move north from where they were last reported to be in the Victoria Land section of the Australian Antarctic Territory (split of from the other part of the AAT by the French Zone) in Antarctica, since there hasn't been information from them since 2 days ago on the 77th Day, it is unknown if they have moved from their last position or a stuck in a snow storm or stuck in one point due to the wind outside their tent being too strong. They have so far followed the route of Scott's ill fated trip to the South Pole, they have now left the South pole and are reaching the route north that Scott took, then after that they will continue past that point where Scott and his crew died to follow the route that Scott was going to take to get back to the open Ocean. Unlike Scott's expedition they will both return home alive and well to tell the tale of their journeys to and from Antarctica. I don't know if they or one of them are/is Roman Catholic/s and/or one or both of them are Eastern Orthodox followers or of another religion or are just Atheists due to a lack of information on them. They both are from England in the UK. They intended to end the trip late October last year, that obviously failed to happen.

Right now Antony Jinman, also of England in the UK, is exploring Antarctica, his last report was from yesterday when he was travelling south from his then last reported location of 88'09 South, he is in the Ross Dependency (of NZ), he is aiming to get to the South Pole. Due to no current information, he is either closer to it today, or has made no progress due to a snow storm or strong winds or he is at the South Pole right now. The religious (of if he is a Catholic or that of the Eastern Orthodox Faith or other or an Atheist) situation he has is unknown, if he is religious at all, due to no information about that about him. He will finish sometime early this year, he started 41 days ago.

Daniel Burton is from the USA, he intends to ride a Fat Bike solo in an attempt to be the first person to ride a bicycle to the South Pole. He started the bike ride last year. The last report of his location was 87 degrees 53 ' South and 82 degrees 1.111' West. He has either started heading south to the South Pole today or is there right now or is stationary due to a snow storm or that of strong winds, I have no information to tell me that or if he is Catholic or that he is a Eastern Orthodox member or of another religion or if he is an Atheist. He is currently in the Chilean Zone of Antarctica.

ANTARCTIC OCEAN : JANUARY : 11. This represents all those from all countries represented in all Bases, field camps, ships, boats, tents, etc of the Ice, rocks, rock reefs, landfalls, snow etc north of the Antarctic 'Mainland' , but south of the Antarctic Circle. For information of all the religious Feasts and commemorations that they may or may no celebrate since there is no information to tell me which of the situations is true then see ANTARCTICA : ALL BASES, FIELD CAMPS, ETC. There is no public holiday for any of these countries people represented there.

ANTARCTICA : UNINHABITED : JANUARY : 11. All humans don't exist there and all animals that live there are naturally Atheists. There's no public holiday there naturally, since there are no Humans there.

(UA) American Samoa, Andorra, Angola, (UK) Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda (Hey, Mon ! ) : JANUARY : 11. The Feasts of Saint Leicius of Brindisi, Saint Vitalis of Gaza and Saint Paulinus II of Aquileia are celebrated on this day. It is not a holiday for anyone in any of those countries and it is not for anyone in (UK) Anguilla either.

ARCTIC : JANUARY : 11. THE ISLANDS OF CANADA, (US) Alaska, NORWAY (minus the Svalbards), RUSSIA, ICELAND (Grimsey Island only), (DENMARK) Greenland (Greenland's islands only) has the Roman Catholics only from those places celebrate and commemorate all of the feasts mentioned in the last paragraph. There is no holiday on any of these islands on that day.

JANUARY : 11. ARGENTINA, (US) American Samoa (though technically anywhere in the Americas (except for the UK and European colonies) has Americans, not just those in the USA), ANDORRA, ANGOLA, (UK) Anguilla, ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA, ICELAND, DENMARK, (THE NETHERLANDS) Aruba, THE BAHAMAS, BANGLADESH, BARBADOS, BENIN, (UK) Bermuda, BHUTAN, BOLIVIA, BOTSWANA, (UK) The British Virgin Islands, BURMA, as well as ARMENIA, AUSTRIA, AZERBAIJAN, BAHRAIN, BELARUS, BELGIUM, BELIZE, BOSNIA, BRAZIL, BRUNEI, BURKINA FASO, (UK) The British Antarctic Territory (north of the Antarctic Circle ( most of the Southern Island Islands of the UK in other words)), (UK) British Indian Ocean Territory, (ANGOLA) Cabinda and BULGARIA, all of them or most of them, with maybe the British Antarctic Territory and/or the British 'Antarctic' Territory being the ones that might be the exception, all celebrate the Roman Catholic feasts mentioned in the above paragraph. I have no information to know if those British Territories that I just mentioned celebrate those feasts or not due to know information about those places. It is not a religious holiday in any of these countries and places.

JANUARY : 11. ARMENIA, AUSTRIA, AZERBAIJAN, BAHRAIN, BELARUS, BELGIUM, BELIZE, BOSNIA, BRAZIL, COLOMBIA, COMOROS, CONGO, D.R.C, (NZ) Cook Islands, THE IVORY COAST, COSTA RICA, (UK) British Antarctic Territory, (UK) British Indian Ocean Territory and Bulgaria all celebrate the Eastern Orthodox feasts of Saint Theodosius the Cenobiarch, January 11 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) feasts of the Afterfeast of the Theophany of Our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ, of numerous Saints, of the New Martyrs and of the New Confessors and they commemorate the Synaxis of the Myriads of the Holy Angels, of the Consecration of the Church of Saint Stephen in Placidia Palace, Constantinople, of the Cherginov-Eletskaya Icon of the most Holy Theotokos, also of the Repose of the Blessed Nun Eupraxia of Teliakov village in Kostroma and of the Triodion, if they belong to the Eastern Orthodox Church. Once again I do not have any information about if the British Antarctic Territory and/or that of the British Indian Ocean Territory celebrate all, half of, most of, some of or any of these feasts or not.

JANUARY : 11. For information on the Roman Catholic Feasts of Roman Catholics in CAMBODIA, CAMEROON, CAPE VERDE, (AUSTRALIA) Christmas Island, (AUSTRALIA) The Cocos IslandsTHE CAYMANS, the C.A.R, CHAD, CHILE, CANADA AND CHINA, see the paragraph above the last paragraph.

JANUARY : 11. For information on the followers of Eastern Orthodox Commemorations in CANADA and CHILE, see the paragraph above the last paragraph.

There is no religious holidays on this day in any of the places and countries mentioned in this message.

ABKHAZIA : JANUARY : 12. The Abhkazian Orthodox Church operates outside the official Eastern Orthodox ecclesiastical hierarchy, as all Eastern Orthodox churches recognize Abkhazia belonging to the jurisdiction of the Georgian Orthodox church. The Georgian Orthodox Church lost effective control over the Sukhumi-Abkhazian eparchy following the war in Abkhazia, when ethnically Georgian priests had to flee Abkhazia. They maintain the structures in exile, where the current head of the Church is Archbishop Daniel. The Abkhazian Orthodox Church came into existence when the ethnically Abkhazian branch of the Sukhumi-Abkhazian Eparchy declared on September 15, 2009 (which really should be considered to be 2008) that it no longer considered itself a part of the Georgian Orthodox Church and that it was re-establishing the Catholicate of Abkhazia which was disabanded back in 1795 (that really should be considered to be 1794. )

The clergy of the Georgian Orthodox Church has accused the Russian Orthodox Church of interfering in its internal affairs, thereby violating Orthodox canon law, by training and sending into Abkhazia priests, publishing translations of the Gospels into the Abkhaz language and annexing (stealing) Georgian Orthodox property in Abkhazia. The Russian Orthodox Church claims that the priests it has sent serve in Abkhazia only temporarily (which I'm sure is bull$#!7) while the local Orthodox believers do not have contacts with the Georgian Orthodox Church. Which in a nutshell means that they have forcibly converted those that were of the Georgian Orthodox Church to the Russian Orthodox Church. This problem still does exist today on January 12 and still will exist for some unknown length of time after January 12 and maybe even after this year. So far there is no evidence that the Georgian Orthodox Church will ever exist ever again in Abkhazia.

Benedict Biscop is honoured by those in the Eastern Orthodox Church in Abkhazia, but there is no feast or holiday to remember the day, Saint Tatiana of Rome however is, unlike him, celebrated by those of the Eastern Orthodox Church in Abkhazia on January 12 by a feast. Other feasts celebrated on this day is the Afterfeast of the Theophany of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, the feasts of numerous Saints, the three different commemorations of the Synaxis of the Icon of the most Holy Theokotos, also of the Icon of the Mother of God "Priestly" (Popskaya) and the Commemoration of the Church of Saint Alexander, near the Church of the Holy Apostles, in Constantinople. All of the feasts and commemorations just mentioned are Eastern Orthodox ones. There is no religious holiday for anyone in Abkhazia on January 12.

(FINLAND) Aland, (USA) Alaska, AUSTRALIA AND ALBANIA : JANUARY : 12. See above's information about Eastern Orthodox Feasts and celebrations only and replace ABKHAZIA for those of the Eastern Orthodox faith in Aland, Alaska, AUSTRALIA and ALBANIA. There is no religious holiday in Albania, Australia or in Aland and Alaska.

(FINLAND) Aland, (USA) Alaska, ALBANIA, ALGERIA, (USA) American Samoa, ANDORRA, ANGOLA, (UK) Anguilla, AUSTRALIA AND JAMAICA : JANUARY : 12. The Roman Catholics of these places and of these countries have feasts for Saint Aelred of Riveaulx and of Saint Tatiana of Rome, which they celebrate on January 12, they also honour Benedict Biscop but it is not a feast and it is only a minor celebration for Roman Catholics on January 12. January 12 is not a religious holiday in these countries and places.

ALBANIA, (UK) Anguilla, AUSTRALIA AND JAMAICA : JANUARY : 12. The feasts of Saint Aelred of Rievaulx and of Benedict Biscop on January 12 are celebrated by the Anglicans of Anguilla and of the countries that I have just mentioned, but it is not a religious holiday in Anguilla or in any of the countries that I have just mentioned.

ANTARCTICA : ALL BASES, FIELD CAMPS, E.T.C OF AUSTRALIA, CHILE, PAKISTAN, the UK, the USA, BELGIUM, BRAZIL, INDIA, ITALY, JAPAN, NORWAY, RUSSIA AND SOUTH AFRICA : JANUARY : 12. See the last paragraph of the last message I put on here for more information and replace all of the countries and places for the countries that I have mentioned here.

ANTARCTICA : ALL BASES, FIELD CAMPS, E.T.C OF INDIA : JANUARY. 12. The only feast those of the Traditional Anglican Communion celebrate today is that of Benedict Biscop.

ANTARCTICA : JANUARY : 12. At the moment I don't know if the explorers Ben Saunders and (The Bush) Tarka (Man) L'Heroiniere, both from England in the UK, are heading south to the South Pole still or are stationary because of a snow storm or strong winds. They are trying to retrace the exact steps of the Terra Nova Expedition first taken by Robert (the) Falcon Scott in January 1912 (which really should be considered to be 1911). Unlike Scott and his crew they will leave Antarctica alive when they have achieved what they want to do in Antarctica. I have no information to tell you if either of them is an Anglican or a Roman Catholic or a follower of the Eastern Orthodox church or that of another religion or if either of them is an Atheist or both of them are Atheists. The last report from them was on January 10 from 86 degrees 11' 6.6 " South and 159 degrees 38 ' 31.8" East, they were ready to head south to the South Pole at the time. They were trying to reach the South Pole by some time last year, it is now day 80 and they have not reached it yet or they have just reached it, due to no information from them to the outside world since 2 days ago it is hard to know exactly where they currently are. They are somewhere in the eastern sector of the Australian Antarctic Territory (which is split away from the rest of the AAT by the French Zone).

Also in Antarctica right now is Antony Jinman. His last report was on Day Forty (on January 10), it is now Day Forty Two and on his last report he was 88 degrees 9' South and he was ready to make it to the South Pole. He to is also from England, I have no information on where his current location is or if he is moving south to the South Pole or if he is at it or if he is stationary due to high winds and/or snow storms, his last report had him as 110 Nautical Miles from the South Pole, I don't know what that is in Kilometres. He is currently somewhere in the Ross Dependency (of NZ). For what religion he is or if he is an Atheist, see the last paragraph but replace it with just this one Bloke though. He too tried to make it to the South Pole last year, he didn't achieve it last year obviously. He is from England in the UK.

Daniel Burton is from the USA. He is riding a Fat Bike to the South Pole, he intends to be the first person ever to ride all the way to the South Pole on a Bicycle. His last coordinates were 88 degrees 35.132' South and 83 degrees 13.976' West on January 11. His last blog entry was interesting 'Jan 11 -- Eureka-- I Bonked!!' Well he is a very lucky b@stard after all, I mean he somehow even found a way to have time to do that with someone he found there or took or met there (?), I can't tell you that this year that I have bonked, but then again I think he has a different meaning to what that word means. I have no information on who Juan is, but he mentions Juan in his latest Blog. He (Daniel that is) is somewhere in the Chilean Zone in Antarctica.

To see everything about his journey to the South Pole, from the start to where he'll be next, go to his website. epicsouthpole.blogspot.com.au I find it odd that it is an Australian Website. For if he was an Atheist or someone from some certain religion, I don't know, since I have no information on him that way. I also have no information on if he has made it to the South Pole yet or is still on his way or stationary because of high winds and/or snow storms (which usually come hand in had with that anyway).

ANTARCTIC OCEAN : ALL BASES, FIELD CAMPS, ETC OF ARGENTINA, THE UK, THE USA, GERMANY, NEW ZEALAND, JAPAN AND RUSSIA : JANUARY : 12. The Roman Catholics of these countries celebrate the feasts of Saint Aelred of Rievaulx and of Saint Tatiana of Rome, they also honour Benedict Biscop, but they don't have a feast in honour of him.

They honour Benedict Biscop, but they do not have a feast in his name.

ANTARCTIC OCEAN : BASES, FIELD CAMPS, ETC OF NEW ZEALAND, JAPAN, RUSSIA, THE UK AND THE USA : JANUARY : 12. Those Anglicans from these countries have feasts for Saint Aelred of Rievaulx and Benedict Biscop.

The 'Antarctic Ocean' does not exist, it is a name I give for every ship, boat, tent, vehicle, base, field camp, etc, every bit of Ice, rock, rock reef, landfall, snow, island etc that isn't within or a part of the Antarctic 'mainland' but lies south or on the Antarctic Circle. In Antarctica and the 'Antarctic Ocean' area I have no information if anyone from any country celebrates all or most or half or some or any or none of the feasts and/or religious holidays and/or religious celebrations of any religion on this day and/or prior to it (and/or prior to this year) and/or after today (and/or will even do so past this year).

ANTIGUA AND BARBUDA : JANUARY : 12. The Roman Catholics and the Anglicans of this country have a feast for Saint Aelred of Rievaulx, the Roman Catholics also have a feast for Saint Tatiana of Rome and they honour Benedict Biscop but they do not have a feast in his name.

The Anglicans of these countries and places celebrate the feasts of Saint Aelred of Rievaulx and of Benedict Biscop.

ARCTIC : See above of CANADA, the USA, RUSSIA AND NORWAY (minus the Svalbards). : JANUARY : 12. Benedict Biscop is honoured by those of the Eastern Orthodox Church, but there is no feast in his name, they do however celebrate the feasts of Tatiana of Rome, also of the feast of the January 12 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) which includes the feasts of the Afterfeast of the Theophany of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, also that of numerous martyrs, also the commemorations of three commemorations of The Synaxis of the Icon of the most Holy Theokotos, also of the Icon of the Mother of God "Priestly" (Popskaya) and of The Commemoration of the Church of Saint Alexander, near the Church of the Holy Apostles, in Constantinople.

ARCTIC : OFFSHORE OIL PLATFORMS, BOATS, SUBS, SHIPS, VEHICLES, TENTS, SNOW, ROCKS, ROCK REEFS, ICE, LANDFALLS, ETC AND ISLANDS OF (DENMARK) Greenland : JANUARY : 12. Just the usual stuff going on in these places, nothing else.

Of all the countries and places in the Arctic I have no information if any of the above specified places do or don't actually have all or most or half or some of or any or none of those religious feasts, religious commemorations or honour any religious figures, icons, events etc on January 12 today or in the past or will in the future. All of the above on the Arctic, Antarctica and the 'Antarctic ocean' is just a guess. But all of the above that is quoted as 'Arctic' refers to anyone north of the Arctic Circle and on the Arctic Circle.

Replace the countries and places in the other paragraph for the countries and places in this paragraph.

GAZA : JANUARY : 12. There is nothing unusual happening in Gaza at the moment, just the usual stuff is going on there, which is bad enough.

ABKHAZIA : JANUARY : 14. It is a public holiday for everyone in Abkahazia on this day, the holiday is named Azhymykhua, it is the celebration of the creation of the world. It is a public holiday for all Abhkazians that are Atheists or of any religion, but only those of the Abhkhazian Neopagan religion celebrate it as a religious holiday with special festivities. Apart from that going on in Abkhazia right now there is also the feasts of Saint Hilary of Poitiers, also of Saint Mungo !, Saint Macrina the Elder, also the feasts of the January 14 (Eastern Orthodox liturgics) which includes the feasts of Apodosis (the leavetaking (whatever that means)) of the Theophany of our Lord and saviour Jesus Christ, also the feasts of numerous Saints, also the feasts of the New Martyrs and that of the New Confessors, also the commemorations of The Repose of Nicholas Motovilov, disciple of Saint Seraphim of Sarov and of The Repose of Hiermonk Cosmas of Grigoriou, Missionary to Zaire (in 1989 which really should be considered to be 1988), only the Orthodox christians celebrate the things I just mentioned, but there is no religious holiday for any of those things. I have no idea what certain words I just mentioned actually mean due to a lack of information about their meaning, I especially don't know what the word repose means, it's not a word I've come across before.

ANTARCTICA : BASES, FIELD CAMPS, ETC OF BELARUS AND RUSSIA : JANUARY : 14. Old New Year. It is Orthodox Church based, it is celebrated by Atheists and people of all religions in these countries and in places where these countries overseas possessions are. It is based on the Orthodox/Julian Calendar, other Orthodox people have stopped celebrating it, Russians and Belarusians do celebrate it even though they now follow the Gregorian Calendar. On the Orthodox/Julian Calendar today, January the 14th on the Gregorian Calendar, that's used in my country and in others, it is January the 1st 2014 (though technically it should be considered to be 2013).
