He is the very beginning of Islam, he started what Islam has become. You can't come closer to the source than that. I can, however, by reading the Quran and the Hadiths, extrapolate on his DESIRES. Take Aisha, for example. He wanted to marry her when she was 6 years old. Muhammad must obviously have some form of DESIRE in that regard. Also, by observing how many women he was married to, as opposed to how many women he allows a man to be married to at one time, how many female slaves he had, and how he treated female captives in general, should draw a picture of what his DESIRES in that direction are. If this is true, then Islam certainly is not a peaceful and tolerant religion, because people should be entitled to change religion and faith as many times as they wish during their lifetime without any negative consequences. Until you pointed it out to us, I never realised that all the great Abrahamitic religions originated in the desert. Why haven't any influence from the jungle, the plains, the mountains and the islands survived in the same way? Strange...  lavendar_star: Tarynn, those Abrahamic religions have incorporated those pagan beliefs and mythologies from all over the world into those religions which has been the roots of their success and worldwide appeal. In South America or in the Caribbean for example people have hybridised their ancestry pagan beliefs with Christianity or Catholicism. I also think that power of Roman Empire and the Ottoman Empire, where the conquered people had to give up their pagan beliefs by their conquers and accept Christianity and Islam has also sealed its success. . chesney: No religion wants annoying rivals, so when combatting them doesn't lead anywhere, they try to absorb their core elements in an attempt to curb the opposition. This happened to the early Israelite faith in Canaan and to Christianity in Rome + of course the obvious examples that you have listed above. Also, religions in places where food is abundant, generally tend to have had many gods, and less aggression. Oh, and for the record, USA is initially secular, but with a large Christian population, trying to convert the country to become a Theocracy. One thing you can try, in effort to regain my respect for you, is to honestly explain to me, what is the age limit in Islam for marriage and consummation, and why is it so. When you are done, you can begin contemplating on why most people with a knowledge of Islam thinks Islam is one of the most barbaric religions on earth.
