Does God make Mistakes?

LiptonCambell
LiptonCambell: I've always wondered this- there seems to be two camps on this issue, usually with people living in both camps because, well, they simply don't care that they are contradicting themselves;

Either God doesn't make mistakes- that Adam and Eve were exposed to the Tree with the intent that they would eat the apple- that Judas was born with the intent that that man would lead to the murder of Gods son- that Hitler was born with the intent of creating the Holocaust- that all these things were done, on purpose, by God- and that, ultimately all these people were victims on Gods "master plan"....

Or God does make mistakes- at which point, the entire concept of a "master plan" is in question....

Which is it?

CoIin: Anything can be explained as "God's plan". Doesn't mean anything though. Adler used to do the same thing. "He killed that child due to low self-esteem" and "He saved that child due to low self-esteem".... Hard to be wrong with unfalsifiable nonsense like that.

LiptonCambell: lol I've always been perplexed by peoples insistence that God is male....if there's only one God, then God wouldn't have a sex- so if God is male, then maybe they're trying to make a girlfriend outta this mess.....

PureSilver67: No God. People should take responsibility for their own actions. Our own mindset heads us in a certain direction and there are "uncontrollable" things - other people - that can help or interfere ... we just have to make the most of it.

lavendar_star: lol it isn't either plus the Bible itself is full of mistakes and contradictions, I find it interesting when something happens to someone good or bad and they say its Gods plan; like if someone survives a car crash but another person dies, how does it work for Gods plan be good for one but bad for another. Peoples relationship with God is very selfish and idealistic, people need a power beyond their own for things to happen or to explain things theres no logic to it, its all about faith!!!!

The reason God is male is because of the Romans and their male dominated society when they consolidated Christianity and God is inspired from Zeus who was the top God of the Greeks, he coincidently had a son too. and Islam is defo no better before that there was Goddess n Gods in most cultures.

The standard answer for this logical dilemma is:

" It's God's will. (Shut up, and stop causing trouble, Infidel!) "

Zardha: Surely, there should ring a bell or two in intelligent and rational minds that hear about people taking the "God's will" thing to dangerous extremes, like parents letting their children die because "it wasn't God's will that they shouild live", when a simple medical treatment could have saved their lives. So where goes the limit for what we should leave to God and what we should decide by applying our sound judgment?

That's a good question. It's curious how very often those who ardently wish to be free of having religion meddle in their lives are willing to meddle in the lives of the religious. In another recent Wireclub thread, there were those that advocated banning religious schools, for instance. I've even read posts that advocating banning religion ... period.

xapim: i thought............it was gods plan or will ? and if theres a mistake then its considered still gods plan to make a mistake ? a contrridiction of a testing the belief ? or the thought to learn ? i dont think they were intent to eat the apple, the plan was free instead of robotic, like a bk at the end of the page you choose which page number to go to on a free decision. judas wasnt born to trease. he part of a plan came into existance of the last super, and got mad cause jesus said he was gonna trease. hitler born to create the holocaust wasnt so but a staement as binladen is the evilman....though it was all a masterplan. forinstance on the cross (honor your father and mother) though, why was cried out in a woundering question........is that honor ? or was there a transfiguring of the trinity to marry, hence Mother mary. as i read i saw another sneaky event being taken place, as realms are desturbed. isnt there a burial ground of a million bones found called catacombs, if the man on the cross was the same man. all had been served and assumption began, in faith. asking is it the master plan, yes.

Oh, I see. So beginning a sexist statement with that disclaimer gives license to making the statement ...

But, of course, it doesn't in any way disguise the blatant sexism.
