God and Bigfoot (Page 2) Airstream: In the name of honesty, one should seek to analyse each claim with the same degree of objectivity. If some people believe that Bigfoot is Cain, it's not my job to tell them that they are wrong, just like it's not my job to tell believers in the idea that Jesus is God that they are wrong, either. If adults continue to believe in Santa Claus or the Easter Bunny, that's their unique privilege, since I will not waste my time trying to prove that they don't exist. It's either all or none. For me to say that one is true and the others are false would be unethical, judgmental and disrespectful. smoke4ever: I'm gonna speak up if I see someone perverting Scripture. But just because I say something doesn't mean you have to believe me, you can read it yourself, or not, or just ignore. Magicspell: To compare which religion is best is almost like trying to figure out who can lift most in bench press, Bigfoot or his Asian cousin Yeti. Before we compare religions, we need to have a reference point to judge them against. Most members? Most converts? Least violence? Least violations of human rights? Most donations to charity? A matrix of the above with an index number divided per member to include minor religions? To just claim that one faith is the best one, without justifying it with comparable statistics, is not only highly irrelevant, it's just as futile as believing in the existence of Bigfoot without tangible evidence. lavendar_star: I agree completely@Majicspell, I wonder if research of a comparative study of the major religion exist it would interesting findings and lol at big-foot versus the Yeti. Magicspell: A thorough research would need to be carried out by completely unbiased experts without a vested interest in the outcome, because it is very easy to manipulate the truth to promote a (sometimes note even so) hidden agenda. Religious leaders do it all the time! (Edited by Magicspell) Pigfish: I have been seriously thinking through an interesting situation and have come up with the following argumentation: 1. If God exists, then his existence should be evident to anyone that sincerely seeks him, right? 2. But unfortunately, God's existence is not evident to everyone that sincerely seeks him. 3. Therefore, God doesn't exist, at least not in ways that are evident to all sincere seekers of God, just like Bigfoot's existence is not evident to everyone who sincerely seeks Bigfoot. Am I right? smoke4ever: @ rdp123 Lamech said to his wives, "Adah and Zillah, listen to me; wives of Lamech, hear my words. I have killed a man for wounding me, a young man for injuring me. If Cain is avenged seven times, then Lamech seventy-seven times." Genesis chapter 4 verses 23-24 CoIin: @ Pigfish In a similar vein, if Jesus really was the son of God, you would think that it would be pretty obvious. However, scripture tells us that few were convinced. Even his own family thought he was nuts. “When his family heard about this, they went to take charge of him, for they said, ‘He is out of his mind.’” (Mark 3:21) Just imagine if it happened to you. "Well, I met the son of God but I mistook him for Joe Bloggs" smoke4ever: @ colinian And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, "He is possessed by Beelzebub! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons." So Jesus called them and spoke to them in parables: "How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand. If a house is divided against itself, that house cannot stand. And if Satan opposes himself and is divided, he cannot stand; his end will come. In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house. I tell you the truth, all the sins and blasphemies of men will be forgiven them. But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; he is guilty of an eternal sin." Jesus said this because they were saying, "He has an evil spirit." Mark chapter 3 verses 22-30 CoIin: Thanks, Smoke. That saved me the trouble of not looking that up. Can you post some Bigfoot quotes too? Just to keep the debate balanced. smoke4ever: The bigfoot said, "Yikes! They see me!" The bigfoot ran away quickly and out of sight of the people. CoIin: I'm getting a bit thin on top these days, so I'm particularly fond of this passage. Way to go, the Lord!! 23: And he [Elisha] went up from thence unto Bethel: and as he was going up that way, there came forth little children of the city, and mocked him, and said unto him, Go up, thou bald head; Go up, thou bald head. 24: And he turned back, and looked on them, and cursed them in the name of the LORD. And there came forth two Bigfoots out of the wood and tare forty and two children of them.
