Christians are counter punchers Wildfirex: hmm. counter puncher... counter i think of a counter arguements and puncher... i think of a blow to the heart or soul ... so in all i get Christians can counter any argument with God's word and it'll hit the soul in an eye opening type of way . i think im on to something here.... WillowManChe: comes down to countering them with the truth, and if they start acting out, then that means it landed from then on out depends on if u wanna keep countering. P4IN: so an argument would look like this according to you: Sane person: "evolution is scientific fact; so is the fact the earths is a few billion years old." You people: "nope." Sane person: "you're an idiot." You people: "that clearly means you acknowledge i'm right." Wildfirex: what a passionate non believer you are. most science revolves around guessing.. like how they guess it must be a billion years old.. they dont know for sure they only go by what another man says. i can tell your a bitter person you need love Fleinsopp: Asking questions lead to progress and development for humanity, something religions don't encourage much, because it makes people doubt and start thinking for themselves... P4IN: No, actually they don't guess the earth is a few billion years old. What they do, is measure ratios of radioactive isotopes of elements, and elements in general to determine how long they've been around. The conclusions these methods lead to are supported by another relevant method of dating, called helioseismic dating. Guessing is what you people do, and it's you who go by what other people tell you without questioning it... ever. I'm not a bitter person, surely not bitter enough to hope for another life. Fleinsopp: I'll take that as a bonus if if turns out to be true, but I don't waste this life speculating about a hereafter that I most likely will never experience. Wildfirex: come on gime a hug . .hahaha bitter enough to hope for another life??? haha its not even all about death, God provides for me while im living and gives me love while im living and makes me happy while im living ,that life afterwards is me being loved so much that even when my bodies dead my soul is still living.. if it makes people happy to believe in something why is it that you atheist always gota say somethin negative like what do you get out of trying to make us non believers? if you really believed in nothing you wouldnt wana argue it so much. itd be like arguing there was no santa clause (no point)... besides the Bible talks about how long people lived and all im sure the ages of all those begotten folks would add up to be a billion ..yall need to relax Drain_Bammage: Wildfirex says - most science revolves around guessing Obviously you have no idea about science, probably best not to talk about it before you look silly or should i say sillier Wildfirex: lol um all those science classes i took were all about makin a GUESS and then testing it...i dont think you'd argue that, so whats so silly? P4IN: It's not a guess in the sense of an arbitrary assertion, like religion makes... It's an educated attempt to generalize principles to all of nature. (Post deleted by One Bar ) Drain_Bammage: Science is systematic trial and error. Remember the scientific method. Observation, Hypothesis, Experiment, Analyze. There is nothing blind about science unlike religion. I wouldnt want to be guessing when making new explosives for instance. (Post deleted by One Bar ) Wildfirex: i dont have a religion i have a relationship with God and I am happy with it...i think i said this already what do you get out of trying to make us non believers? P4IN: Believe it or not that phrase is completely meaningless seeing as you acknowledge some superiority of Jesus in relation to other humans, refer to your god by a very specific name etc. Also, although you're probably unaware of this, the word hallelujah comes from the hebrew/aramic word hallelujah or הללויה which literally means praise Yahweh, or in english, Jehovah. Yahweh is a name for god only in specific religions. Had you not been religious it would have been improbable for you to have arbitrarily selected Yahweh/Jehovah as a name for your god. I like chocolate chip cookies with cold milk. Widgette: Of course it is possible to believe in God without being religious. I was that myself once, after having lost the faith in Jesus as a personal savious and before the rational part of my brain overruled the irrational part and turned me into a non-believer. But for a while there, in the middle of it all, I prayed and believed without taking part in any religious rituals or being the member of any religious brotherhood. Luckily, this is all behind me now, since I came to my senses and moved on with my life... P4IN: It's obviously possible to believe in a god without being bound to a certain religion, however in the above woman's specific matter, it isn't the case. Praying is by the way a religious ritual. skully: My uncle isn't religious, but he prays a lot. The strange thing is that he also swears a lot!
