If i earn 50K a month than its a religious obligation on me to share 2.5% of my earning with poor and needy people, on monthly basis or at the end of each year. No doubt it has given him a sense of accomplishment and enlightenment but it's some thing we are practicing on daily basis as part of our religious and social responsibilities. Islam is a religion which teaches you a complete way of life, it tells you how to treat your parents, siblings, neighbors, It defines the way of doing business and politics, It tells you the responsibilities you have on your shoulders being a politician, king, caliph or just a minster. Flac: All this is good and well, Rah, but in the name of honesty, you also need to deal with the dark side of your faith to give a balanced opinion when you present it. A Trabant is still a Trabant, no matter how many times you choose to call it a Rolls Royce... In that way, many Muslims claim that Islam teaches them to discriminate against people of other faiths or with no faith at all; and to commit violence and terror in the name of Allah. They thus become self-righteous fanatics with no regard for other people's life and well-being, while proclaiming that they are good Muslims and only follow the teaching of the Koran. From the way you formulate your point of view, one may deduct that the average Muslim is kinder and more considerate than other people, but of course this is not true. And please don't tell me that the leaders of Muslim countries are any better than their Christian or atheist counterparts when it comes to their own luxury versus the poverty of their subjects... RahGuzaR: I totally agree with you Flac that leaders of Muslim countries are not better than non-Muslim leader but again like i said in my earlier post that they are not following the true teaching of Islam. Islam is not a religion which you practice five times a day (Muslims) only but its a complete way of life . Even i condemn those extremist who kill people in the name of God, Islam teaches that Muslim should be a role model for others to get inspiration. Islam does not teach discrimination and racism, and those who you mentioned are unaware and have lost the path. spray: Now we are back to discussing the definition of what is the "right" and "wrong" interpretation of Islam. Who has the right to decide? Not long ago, there were ardent Muslims on this forum defending terror and violence, both in Afghanistan and elsewhere, in the name of Allah, while claiming that their more tolerant and peaceful co-religionists were "weak" and "deviant" according to what they called "true Islam". This is nothing new, neither in Islam nor in other religions. Everybody thinks that the way they see things is the only correct one, while all others "have lost the path" as you express it. Unlike too many theists, at least you condemn extremists, which earns you a star in my book! RahGuzaR: Yes all the religions tells you more or less the same things. In my opinion stars could only be earned through actions, If i say some thing to defend Islam on this platform and my actions are otherwise then there is no point of having this conversation. In my opinion every human and Muslims in specific should be a role model and a walking Quran on the face of this earth. What ever is happening in Iraq and Afghanistan and Bosnia etc is reaction of certain actions but its a total new argument but i still do not support or justify the suicide bombing and other terrorist activities which kills only innocent people regardless of their religious beliefs.
