Which religion shall I choose? (Page 2)

michelleleelee
michelleleelee: You should test out what ever religion you choose to see if it actually teaches what the bible says. The Bible is truly the word of God and I would love to study it with you if you would like that.
You could pick any subject you like and we could look in the bible to see what it says.

Zoey234: Wate a minut here. Lets not B too hasty. Cross referencing would test the weight of a concept. If it appears "more than once" or even better appears "over and over again ad infinitum in every religion of the world" wouldn't it be safe to assume there's a grain of truth to it? It's like if one person tells u your hair looked better long it qualifies as a fluke but if 50 people say the same thing than.............

KrAsH
KrAsH: Nothing like a good religious debate i say

Several centuries ago, the Pope decreed that all the Jews had to leave Italy. There was, of course, a huge outcry from the Jewish community, so the Pope offered a deal. He would have a religious debate with a leader of the Jewish community. If the Jewish leader won the debate, the Jews would be permitted to stay in Italy. If the Pope won, the Jews would have to leave.

The Jewish community met and picked an aged Rabbi, Moishe, to represent them in the debate. Rabbi Moishe, however, could not speak Latin and the Pope could not speak Yiddish. So it was decided that this would be a "silent" debate.

On the day of the great debate, the Pope and Rabbi Moishe sat opposite each other for a full minute before the Pope raised his hand and showed three fingers.

Rabbi Moishe looked back and raised one finger.

Next, the Pope waved his finger around his head.

Rabbi Moishe pointed to the ground where he sat.

The Pope then brought out a communion wafer and chalice of wine.

Rabbi Moishe pulled out an apple. With that, the Pope stood up and said, "I concede the debate. This man has bested me. The Jews can stay."

Later, the Cardinals gathered around the Pope, asking him what had happened.

The Pope said, "First I held up three fingers to represent the Trinity. He responded by holding up one finger to remind me that there was still one God common to both our religions. Then I waved my finger around me to show him that God was all around us. He responded by pointing to the ground to show that God was also right here with us. I pulled out the wine and the wafer to show that God absolves us of our sins. He pulled out an apple to remind me of original sin. He had an answer for everything. What could I do?"

Meanwhile, the Jewish community crowded around Rabbi Moishe, asking what happened. "Well," said Moishe, "first he said to me, 'You Jews have three days to get out of here.' So I said to him, 'Up yours'. Then he tells me the whole city would be cleared of Jews. So I said to him, 'Listen here Mr. Pope, the Jews ... we stay right here!"

"And then?" asked a woman.

"Who knows?" said Rabbi Moishe. "We broke for lunch."

StuckInTheSixties: Zoey says:
"If it appears "more than once" or even better appears "over and over again ad infinitum in every religion of the world" wouldn't it be safe to assume there's a grain of truth to it?"

Encarta Dictionary: English (North America):

assume

suppose something; to accept that something is true without checking or confirming it

No, it's not safe to assume that. It would be safe if you could "confirm it" with objective, tangible proof. Assumptions often lead to errors, don't they?

Zoey says:
"It's like if one person tells u your hair looked better long it qualifies as a fluke but if 50 people say the same thing than"

Well, no. It's nothing like that at all.

Faith & proof
Faith & proof: Firstly, i don't think you mean it but if u do, i'll be more than glad to have you as new brother in Islam.

Secondly, i'm not gonna say choose Islam because it is the fastest growing religion or Christianity because it is the easiest, and so on. No it's not like that! You have to investigate and do some researches and be honest when you seek for the truth.

Leon35: Sugar, the best advise I can give you is : Seek, Read, listen, understand, and you will find your answer. There is no religion to follow only believing that there is a God, who make man and all that is in it. All else is man's ideas. Can any one tell me what the bible is ?

Men had getten pretty big minded and thought it did not need God. So they challenged God in a contest to see who is greater, God or man. God accepted and met with the choosen one of man. God reach down and got a hand full of dirt and make a man out of it. The man bended down also and got some dirt too. God said, "wait a second - get your own dirt" ecc.2-15,16

Magicspell
Magicspell: SITS, you asked why I am convinced that the Maya intended their calendar to continue. There are several possible answers here.

1. I saw it in my crystal ball.
2. It is the most logical thing to assume, once you know all the details and the underlying elements.
3. Several scholars seem to think so, too, see under "objections" here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2012_phenomenon

Any combination of the above (pick your most convincing choice).
