Morality based on Bible teachings includes honesty and integrity. Yet, cheating, corruption, and fraud are widespread.Bible-based morality also includes faithfulness in marriage, which is meant to be a permanent relationship Millions of people who have taken a close look at the Holy Scriptures have come to appreciate that Bible counsel is based on godly wisdom, which is far superior to human thinking. Such ones regard the Bible as trustworthy and relevant to life in our modern world. They know that it is in their best interests to heed the counsel in God's Word. Hence, such individuals take to heart the Bible's counsel: "Trust in Jehovah with all your heart and do not lean upon your own understanding. In all your ways take notice of him, and he himself will make your paths straight." (Proverbs 3:5, 6) Doing so, they greatly improve their own lives, and they also benefit those around them. And they develop a firm confidence in "the life . . . which is to come," when Bible morality will be followed by all mankind.—1 Timothy 4:8. I encourage everyone who read this to draw close to gos by means of his word the bible. really, this will change your life for better. www.watchtower.org www.jw.org Malobear: I dont live in a sense of religion thats practiced from a book or books. But more so from beliefs that were past down from the elders of the many tribes of North America. Beliefs and religion are not based in what your comfortable with or what is fun. It has more to do with a way of life you must live. To really understand one religion can take a lifetime, and still not fully understand it. Its why its very important for you talk and research with others of the faith that your studing about.Approach it with a open heart and soul, and you will not be cheating yourself. StuckInTheSixties: I suggest you have a divine revelation and start your own church. I hear there's good money in that. LiptonCambell: If all these 2012 conspiracy's are true, I'd go with the Mayan religion. After all, if they can see the future they must be doing something right.... StuckInTheSixties: According to "ebiblefellowship" (add www/com to make that into a link), we won't make it to 2012. http://www.wireclub.com/Forums/ViewTopic.aspx?ForumId=647371&ParentId=1118521&Replied=161 StuckInTheSixties: Sugar, choose the nuttiest religion you can find, join it for a little while, and then let us know how it was. mongrel_pup: I went through a similar phase two years ago: Checking out all possible religions and beliefs in case there should be one that interested me enough to consider it seriously. But as those that have bothered to read my posts know, I came out of it empty handed. Anyway, nobody can accuse me of having taken this problem lightly, though... The most bizarre faith that I came across during my search must certainly be this one: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cargo_cult flashie: The Maya practiced human sacrifice. In some Maya rituals people were killed by having their arms and legs held while a priest cut the person's chest open and tore out his heart as an offering. This is depicted on ancient objects such as pictorial texts, known as codices. Much of the Maya religious tradition is still not understood by scholars, but it is known that the Maya believed that the cosmos had three major planes, the Earth, the underworld beneath and the heavens above. The Maya underworld is reached through caves and deep tunnels. It was thought to be dominated by the aged Maya gods of death and putrefaction. The Sun (Kinich Ahau) and Itzamna, an aged god, dominated the Maya idea of the sky. Another aged man, god L, was one of the major deities of the underworld. The night sky was considered a window showing all supernatural doings. The Maya configured constellations of gods and places, saw the unfolding of narratives in their seasonal movements, and believed that the intersection of all possible worlds was in the night sky[citation needed... LiptonCambell: Silly flashie. The Mayans were superior to us. Didn't you know that? And Cargo Cults are awesome. I worship my xbox daily. Magicspell: I don't remember if I have posted this here before, or if it was on another web site. I am convinced that the Maya would have continued their calendar, if their culture hadn't collapsed as the result of drought, civil war, high infant mortality and a general lack of resources to sustain their high-maintenance society. If they had still lived among us today, they would surely have added another cycle of 5125 years long time ago and thus avoided the 2012 hysteria.
