Your religion is wrong

Inflicting Attrition
Inflicting Attrition: Why do you think that your religion is valid and every other one is false? What is your logic for believing what you believe. I believe that no one has ever had knowledge of what happens in the "afterlife," and to assume anything based on other peoples' "encounters" is asinine. I mean, some of the prophets have gained remembrance through thousands of years. That alone would be reason enough for me to make up an epic story...anyways let me know your opinion. I can't wait for the amount of hate i am going to get for this . BTW I picked the title so i would get some responses

- no videos about other peoples logic for their beliefs. Come up with your own ideas you lazy f*cks.

Inflicting Attrition: I believe that a lot of religious beliefs come from your upbringing. I was brought up to be christian. If I found out that I was completely wrong in my belief of agnosticism, I would probably believe in christianity. I think it is more about the convenience of believing what we were raised to believe rather than researching and choosing the option that is most acceptable to us individually.

StuckInTheSixties: Dude, don't have a heart attack, but I totally agree with you.

What you describe I call the "ticket to heaven." Each religion declares that they have the valid ticket to heaven, and those tickets supplied by the other "false" religions are counterfeit. If you wanna get to heaven, better have the right ticket.

It's nonsense.

flashie
flashie: great thread attrition.

i dunno if i can answer fully without referencing others ideas tho.

i grew up pretty standardly for a brit kid, my family arent much religious. my dad was an athiest, mum catholic but she wasnt really into that. we never went to church or whatever.i never really bought the jesus is god idea or really thought of it much.

after some tragic things happened in my teens i was sure i didnt belive in a god. one day when i was older i sat with a rapper friend of mine in his car and a west indian soundsystem bass player who was much older in his 40's waiting on some dodgy east london housing estate to get smoke weed.

my friend had recently decided to become a born again christian,i think he was swayed by run dmc becoming rev run and rev dmc at the time. it was fashionable to be 'down with the king'. anyway lyndie the rasta nd my mate ben were chatting about christianity while we waited. i offered my opinion that i dont belive in a god and am an athiest.

lyndie went loco, and told me that athiest is a filthy disgusting word in no uncertain terms. i was pretty shocked at his mad reaction. he went onto poke me in the temple with his fingers freaking out and saying 'see that rasta man down there?' as a long dreaded guy strolled past'he will put a bullet in your head for using a dirty word like that!' i gotta say i was shitting a brick. lyndie told me to never use that word in his presence.

he def got me thinking about some things.

not long after i took a icecube trackon my walkman to an algerian bro i worked with and said 'youre a muslim right? i got some muslim hiphop here' he listened and said its not islam. i was a bit offended at his seeming arrogance, who are you to judge i thought. he told me to come to the mosque that friday and he'll show me what islam really is.

anyway, i was taught that the religion is a religion of knowledge not blind faith and that we need to understand who and what god is by his names and attributes in the koran. theres 99. you need to know what it is you worship.

i didnt do much more than that,i learnt to pray but went back to my mates drinking and smoking weed having fun as a teen should. a year or so later id broken up with my girl and was on a bit of a downer, bored with partying i just wasnt in the mood.

so i went back to making prayers and asked god to give me a break.i went to the mosque and listened to yusef islam or cat stevens as he was formerly known giving sermons for new muslims. an imam at regents park mosque put me in touch with some cool pakistani brothers and one guy bought me a book called 'tawheed: the fundamentals of islam' by bilal phillips (a jamaican/canadian 'convert'/revert who embraced islam on the strength of sharia law as he was formerly into marxism and thought sharia was a much better system than marxism).

my new friend said if i could memorise the book about tawheed en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tawhid he'd really respect me or anyone else who memorised that book.

it changed my life, it was the first time the idea of god and fate etc was explained in a logical beliveable way. its f*z&y~& water tight.

i dont pratise any religion much nowadays and for a long time which is unusual for converts to islam as theyre usually the most zealous.

but i do totally get the concept of tawheed and think and hope ill always belive in god and tawheed until i die as it makes so much sense to me.

religion doesnt have to be about fairy tales, and islam is the only religion in the world far as i know that isnt based on worshipping gods creation, and isnt named after somthing created, which is the essence of tawheed and the message jesus mohammed adam abraham and all the prophets came with.

worship god, not creation and dont share worship with god and anything created. shirk or to share worship is the biggest sin a muslim or huamans can commit and wont be forgiven.

long reply but real talk from my heart.pz

flashie: of course.but the point i was trying to illustrate is not about choosing which idol you want to worship not unlike a football team. its about one Creator (if you lean toward that idea) YHWH, or in the christains case the Father or Allah - all the same, seperate from creation and idols. thats the way i see it, but pls dont think im on any kind of superiority trip im not trying to come across like that.

SPIRIT-ONE
SPIRIT-ONE: There is but 'one' Creator , YAH-ALLAH be His Name and Title ,He is Our Father .

The Atheist are creatures with a lesser need to believe in an anthropomorphic deity ,but who nevertheless ,as can see by some threads ,can still accept the spiritual world under different terminology . The scientific spirit guides them in the paranormal realms.

They should start a thread or two on Atheism and its ...er..unbeliefs ,see how many converts they get LOL ,they are a bored lot though ,having nothing better to do than tell those who have a belief ,how stupid they are

SPIRIT-ONE: QuarterBreed ,then you are the not the norm ,some of the peanut gallery didn't chime in because they know I'm right ,they have no spirituality ,or religion being crammed down their throats has left a bitter taste in their mouths , I know the feeling ,even I was sent outside with my brothers to catch one of the neighborhood House of Baal ,church busses [I think so the folks could nurse their hangovers ] It led me to search for the truth ,too many fables in the Good Book , I expose the falsehoods as I find them . It is up to the reader to do his or her own seeking , to see if what I say is true I ENCOURAGE THAT !

QuarterBreed: I totally agree with what you write about individual search and conviction.

I understand that I am probably not a typical atheist, but I find it hard to believe that the majority of us should be bitter and spiteful "throat-crammers", as you call it.

I regard most of my likeminded as positive and tolerant people without any holier-than-thou attitude or an agressive agenda towards theists. But I guess that stereotypes are hard to kill...

Inflicting Attrition
Inflicting Attrition: I do not accept the spiritual world. I am just wondering others rational for believing what they do in the afterlife whether it be logic or just beliefs. As a said before, the title is only to get attention. I have no way to know if your or anyone's religion is wrong so lets not debate about that. I can only express what I believe and why and I am in no way forcing my belief on anyone. I simply want what you believe and why.

Inflicting Attrition: I agree. My beliefs as an agnostic (leaning toward atheism) are overshadowed by my belief in the probability that no one has got it right yet. Maybe we are all wrong and the happenings after you die are something that we haven't conceived yet.
