Mosques being built at or near the 9/11 site. (Page 2) bahcatha2: I apologize to anyone who may have taken offense to my last 4 posts i was just making a point. hewhay: who cares if they build a mosque in the middle of the crater ? there is a thing called 'freedom of religion' in this country . I have my own viewpoint as to whom the 911 players are and they weren't Muslims ,unless Bush ,Cheney ,and their henchmen and assorted lackeys were ,but that is a topic for another thread as I believe no radical Muslims nor Muslims of any kind were involved in that attack ,Powell even said he went along on info that was flawed ,and in some cases ,not true at all ,but he didn't know that at the time bahcatha2: believe as you wish it is still an insult to those who lost someone in the towers. that ground should be dedicated to something humanitarian, or even a theme park but not religion, religion has caused enough grief. bahcatha2: had our forefathers had known about islam at that time I believe the freedom of religion clause would have been different. also it is freedom "of" and "from" religion, we seem to forget the "from" part, while everyone shoves it down our throat. Those of us who do not like, or want it have as much right not to have it as those of them who do. franklin1950: to this day the nazi pery cellibrates hitlers bombing of pearl harbour . history is a creative process where imagination is encouraged . franklin1950: michele jacksons neverland ranch will soon national monument. hitler may not of bombed pearl harbour but he wanted to and would have but missed the meeting . history is fun. Malobear: Here is a interesting reaction by our great goverment. Makes me so proud to have freedom of speech and ideas lol. http://www.nypost.com/p/news/opinion/editorials/pelosi_poison_ZAPR7AKHgeauep0gFodX8N Das_B00T: All I want to know is, why here? why in this particular place in America? Surely there are plenty of other places in the US or indeed New York that the building could take place. Or has this spot in New York recently been designated a holy site? Were the fossilised remains of Mohammads holy sandals recently discovered here? Why? Are muslims really this insensitive? Ive got a great idea! Lets go build a memorial to Josef Mengele outside Auschwitz! davidk14: . I can't imagine the city allowing the American Nazi Party building a cultural center across the street from the Holocaust Memorial. . IamEggman: Trying connect the nazi's with islam is weak. The nazi's commited the holocaust, not all Germans supported them. Some people used islam as a reason to attack the world trade centre, not all muslims supported them. Anyway, dont they have a right to build there. I thought you believed in the constitution? bahcatha2: they could have re-built the trade center, donated that land to a charity, erected a monument to all of the lost lives etc. etc .etc. But to allow a mosque to be put there is unexcusable and more than likely will only cause more problems. bahcatha2: Eggman what would you say if they erected a monument to the Irish Republican Army at Buckingham palace. Being from Scotland you may not care, but I bet the brits would pitch a b^~$%. IamEggman: bahatha, Irish people have, and continue to, fund catholic churches all over the UK. No one complains, because people dont automatically assume that all Irish people support the IRA. Just the same as not all muslim people support Al Qaeda. Malobear: I guess its crazy to expect many of you or the goverment to respect the dead. The goverment didnt when they carved out Mt Rushmore,so why should they now. As a native american, one thing that Muslims and Christians seem to have in common, power and greed and neither respect the earth, taking more from her than what they need. Most Americans would rather see a monument at this site to honor those that died for this is really a gravesite to thousands of people of many faiths and would allow those families a place to come and visit. People these days dont like to be reminded of their mistakes and sins in life. One reason some of the Muslims and Christians and goverments would not want a monument would be a consistant reminder of their sins and failed policies toward each other.Something they should be reminded of everytime they look upon that place. Forgivness and Respect would go a long way in healing the worlds woes, But most nations are godless, Atleast the US goverment is straight about it,even tho their money says'In God We Trust". Other goverments around the world hide behind religion and they fool no one, their real religion is power and the bottomline. Das_B00T: 'No one complains, because people dont automatically assume that all Irish people support the IRA. Just the same as not all muslim people support Al Qaeda.' Your confusing race with religion here dude. The difference being, that the entire Irish race doesnt subscribe and follow a specific set of rules and dogma set out in a belief system. Anyway, just wanted to add, this particular muslim community centre has been on this site in New York for years. Its not like they are coming along and building something new. They are just expanding on an existing structure. Low_Rider: why build anything related to religion on the site??? if they are gonna build anything i think a museum would be a better choice Das_B00T: Exactly! I suggested a science lab, but a museum is a far better idea. A monument to science and mans progression through scientific thinking, instead of a tribute to supernatural beliefs'. engi_sony: Mosques being built at or near the 9/11 site. NO, it should not be built there or in near vicinity...under any circumstances. | Religion Chat Room 23 People Chatting Similar Conversations |
