"An honest mistake?" Fleinsopp: This morning, I heard on the news that the Catholic Church in Norway received 200000 Euros too much in governmental support for 2009, because it reported 4000 members too many. When confronted with these facts, a spokesperson said that "an honest mistake" had been made. Come on, I'm sure that the Church had better control of its members in the Middle Ages. Shouldn't we expect that modern data files should give an accurate picture of the members' profiles? The only mistake here is probably that the Church officials didn't expect the Ministry of Education and Religion to have better computer routines than themselves, or that it was so easy to see through such "honest" ignorance. Surely, it must be a mistake.  pugpeppers: they just wanted to feed the poor people........jeez!!!!!........ some people i just dont know...... hewhay: are you one of these ? or maybe a child of one ? .Some of the joy began to go out of the LSD cult in the late 1960s .Bad trips , suicides ,news of children being born with birth defects as a result of women taking LSD while pregnant were some of the factors that contributed to its decline . As LSD lost its hold on the hippie population ,many of the former Acid-Freaks found a new "high": JESUS! The "Jesus Freaks" are supposed to have first appeared on Sunset Strip in Los Angeles in 1967 . Since then , the movement has swept the United States and other Western countries ,attracting young followers from all segments of society , to the astonishment and occasional dismay of the orthodox . The movement now includes several subgroups , from flamboyant hippies who view Jesus as an "outlaw" and promote the Gospel with earsplitting rock music , to the neatly dressed students whose evangelism is an outgrowth of conservative Protestantism . There's even a Catholic wing , the "Catholic Pentecostals," who combine a rigidly orthodox form of Catholic doctrine with the spontaneous enthusiasm of Pentecostal religion and a strong distrust of the hierarchy of their own Church . Those who like Irony will relish the spectacle of the former Acid-Heads sparking off a Christian revival ,preaching the Gospel to a nominally "straight" society that regarded these same rebels as bearers of virulent disease. Chauna: There isn't much "honesty" in religions, since they deny everything that proves them wrong and try to hide it from their adherents. That's like peeing in your own bed... office: Wow - that would explain it neatly, I would say. Just be sure that while you're at it, you don't break your laughing butt, so that you need to wear it in a cast... DeadSpin: I guess that you need to be cynical to profess a religious belief, otherwise it would be impossible to close your eyes to everything that disproves it and keep on convincing yourself that everybody else is wrong. hewhay: is that why you troll the religious threads ,to convince yourself that you have the correct belief ...or in your case ,disbelief ? (LOL) I'm just trying to spice up the topics with some well placed comments, while you - on the other hand - come across as a high-profiled intrigue-maker. You seem to lack what we educated people call "tact" and instead bulldoze almost every thread with your blatant propaganda. You should clean your own nest before you crap in others'!
