Praise be to Allaah. The consensus of the scholars is that it is not permissible for a woman to be the head of an Islamic state or to hold a position of top leadership. This is what is stated in the Book of Allaah (interpretation of the meaning): “Men are the protectors and maintainers of women, because Allâh has made one of them to excel the other” [al-Nisa’ 4:34] The general applicability of this aayah indicates that the position of qiwaamah (being a protector and maintainer) belongs to men in relation to women. As a woman does not have authority over her husband in the home, it is more appropriate that she should not have authority over any other men. *why do muslims dislike music so much? a life without music is a souless, lifeless experience. "What is the ruling on going to hairdressers who play music and songs? It is not permissible for you to listen to the songs when you go to such places. If they play the songs loud in the shop when you are there, you have to denounce that in a wise and good manner. Most hairdressers will respond to the one who advises them sincerely; this is something which has been tried and tested. If they respond to your request, all well and good, otherwise go to someone else. In sha Allah you will find someone who will do what you ask. Whoever fears Allaah and keeps his duty towards Him, Allaah will grant him a way out.
