bahcatha2: christian types will twist everything to justify their stupid beliefs they will even twist common sense and fact out of shape in order to enforce what they believe they claim sin is what causes death, but fail to acknowledge that if it does then Jesus must have sinned or he would not have died, we all know that the word immortal means unable to die or lives forever yet Jesus who is supposed to be God and a true God must be immortal was still able to die so must not have been God, yet with all of their stupidity they persist.

bagofBEANs: LOL, Bahcatha, we speak beside each other here!

My reference to "irrational, unexplainable inconsistency" was meant for your statement about people claiming that Jesus was unable to sin, but able to die, an absurdity that in my book doesn't hold water.

Secondly, I have no religion and my belief is by no means linked up to any official faith, so please don't put me in the same category as the others you describe in such a picturesque language.

Transformed
Transformed: >>>>>>>>"transformed if death and sin are in any way connected as you say then if your loving Jesus was not able to sin why was he able to die?"

Hi Bathcatha,

There is a logical explanation for the death of Jesus and Him still being without sin. I know you don't like answers that are given by bible verses but please consider what I'm about to show from the scriptures because if it is going to be explained sufficiently then it has to be seen through the scriptures because it is the scriptures that declare His death and His sinless nature.

Joh 19:30 When Jesus had received the sour wine, he said, "It is finished," and he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

Here are Jesus' last words before He died, "It is finished". Why did He say this? Was it that His hopes of ruling as Messiah had come to a tragic end? Or, was there a divine plan in His death, a work that needed to be accomplished?

In Isaiah chapter 53 (one of the most vivid old testament prophecies of the Crucifixion.) We read that, "Yet it was the will of the LORD to crush him."

So the first conclusion is that it was God's Will for Jesus to die.

So why did He die? And how could He die if he had no sin?

Heb 10:12 "But when Christ had offered for all time a single sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God."

The single sacrifice offered for all time by Christ was His own body. What does this mean? In the Old Testament the Jews offered up the blood of a lamb or young goat for a covering for their sins. The lamb had to be free of blemish or any defilement for it be accepted. The reason being is that the innocence of the lamb was accepted before God as a temporary covering for the person who offered it up ("A life for a Life".
This was just a foreshadow though (a telling forth of what was to come in Christ). In John's gospel Jesus is declared to be "the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world". Jesus Christ was to be the Lamb of God's choice to be Just payment for the sin of all people.

The second conclusion is that Jesus died as a sacrifice for sins for all people. He was clean and free from sin so the offering of this "Lamb" being the Son of God was acceptable to God as payment for ALL sin. (Hence, why forgiveness of sins is declared through Him only)

But the paradox as you have stated above is, How was He ABLE to die if He was free from sin and death is the result of sin?

Simply, I don't have all the answers! It is the Mystery of God!

But Remember! He did not stay dead according to the scriptures. He rose from the dead on the third day of His death.

Act 2:24 "God raised him up, loosing the pangs of death, because it was not possible for him to be held by it."
Heb 2:14 "that through death he might destroy the one who has the power of death, that is, the devil"

I hope this helps?

Icy_Uranus: >>> "It is the Mystery of God!"

The old "God-works-in-mysterious-ways" trick.

This is the old failsafe when trying to explain why the bible contradicts itself and when religious people realise they can't explain the fallacies of their religion.

deuce916: Transformed, I'm sick of your bible bullshit. Have you got anything related to reality in that repertoire of yours or is it all just spoon-fed garbage? You know, humans have moved on from those ancient times that's why we know different things now. The bullshit you're sprouting relates to a particular societies values thousands of years ago. We have moved on from then. Why do you continue to live a sheltered life?

ChaoticSymphony: I'm not going to involve myself in this trivial debate with you morons, as it would be a waste of time and I would much rather argue with a bunch of monkeys.
I will just say this:

People may die for the sole reason that if we didn't understand death, then we'd become cocky, arrogant, unfearful.
We would no longer want to help people.
If we were immortal, anything would be possible, and we'd do whatever we want.
Death happens so we don't lose touch with who we are.
Death happens so we don't become evil.
Because without death, how would we know what's good and bad?
So many people died on that plane except for a few and that boy.
And maybe this is that boy's chance to make an impact in his life and do some real good in his life in the future.
Maybe he survived for a reason.
Without death, then we wouldn't truly know what life is.
I did not get this from the Bible, I did not get this from some atheist article, these are my own thoughts.
Ridicule them if it makes you feel superior.
But as long as it gets somebody who reads this thinking...then I accomplished what I wanted.
Thanks for reading.

bahcatha2: Transformed I do not believe, however if you truly believe that anything or anyone that is possible of dying could be any type of God, then you do not understand the meaning of the word immortal. You also believe that Jesus was god and god died on a cross then why do you persist if god is dead what does it matter?
