I believe many feminists who were mainly counted among the left are not very supportive of the trans movement and a few extremely rich actors and celebrities hardly make up the left. Politicians left and right jump on any bandwagon they think can get a vote or two but they will soon move on to the next cause. There are two genders, and wishing there were more doesn't make them exist. And this isn't an optional choice. We just check the chromosomes. XY = male, XX = female. There is absolutely no societal gain by indulging the mentally ill. In fact, it creates quite a bit of societal harm. These people need mental health treatment, not pandering. Either women exist, or they don't. Those of us who believe they do indeed exist don't believe it is possible to become a woman simply by identifying as one. We rely on the science, the biology and the chromosomes. Others want to believe anyone can be a woman, because it is a "social construct" making it one of several options they can pursue. And once they announce that they identify as a female, then they magically will become a female, in all ways possible. And will be entitled to the same rights and privileges as women are, including their bathrooms, locker rooms, scholarships and medals. What they are really doing is conflating a scientific fact (gender) with an optional choice (self identification.) As if they were one in the same, when they are really two separate things. You can identify as a horse all you want, but you still are a human, and you still cannot run in the Kentucky Derby. Ironically, the same people who believe in self identification for gender will get outraged if you try to self identify in any other way. You may not wear braids (cultural appropriation) or wear blackface (racism) or even wear halloween costumes. In those cases they say it is wrong to pretend you are something you really aren't. You cannot talk someone out of this bizarre belief because science doesn't matter to them. They believe they are right because making gender optional is "fair" and "promotes social justice." This is a belief system, much like a religion is.  Crash: Matt Walsh did a documentary on this, I'm sure most of you are aware, turns out no one could really give a definitive answer as to WHAT a "woman" actually was. Man, and Woman have really lost all their meaning. So, when person "X" says they identify as a "woman" they aren't actually describing anything, as the term has lost all intrinsic meaning. It literally means "whatever you want it to mean." One could be the most "masculine man" on the planet, beard , big muscles, etc....yet all that is required for him to "be a woman" is to CLAIM he is.....never changing ANYTHING about his physical appearance. In that situation there is no actual difference between a "MAN" and a "WOMAN" as they both present EXACTLY the same. I'm sure ya'll can see why this is problematic. It destroys the NEED to even USE those terms....as, essentially, they are both the same. Honestly it kind of reminds me of the Borg from Star Trek, but in a weird way. Everyone seems to want to be SOOOOOO "special/different" to stand out in their own way....yet in doing so, they have literally DESTROYED the things that make us different....thus essentially making us all the same/interchangeable.....the Borg.
