No one in the medical field will tell you that a vaccine will stop the body from getting infected. A vaccine acts as a trigger for the immune system to recognise the harmful germ/virus/bacteria and it produces antibodies to protect the body when it gets infected. It's as a fire drill, you take a fire drill and expose yourself to a scenario so that when a real fire comes, you are mentally prepared due to what you exposed your mind to in the fire drill. Someone whose body has been exposed to a vaccine is better prepared and ready to handle the direct infection if it occurs. Hence why they have less symptoms. An unvaccinated person's body will have to start from zero. There are many who have had Covid and either it had attacked them mildly or deadly. In my years I have never known of anyone getting the common cold and ending up into hospital or on a deathbed.
