The Attack on the Capital

ClassicCarTunes
ClassicCarTunes: As a conservative Republican I was frankly disgusted by the attack on the Capital on January 6th. But more than that I find the entire thing rather idiotic.

Here you have a group of people trying to get into the Capital against armed police. If they REALLY were trying to take it over, and make no mistake - they were, then they were the dumbest bunch of fools on the planet!

Furthermore, people trying to say that we need an armed revolt need to consider what was going on during the American Civil War. President Lincoln suspended the Right of Habeas Corpus, which in my mind is much stronger than some "stolen election" as it denies citizens some basic rights. Read the Wiki article to better understand what it really does.

So these ultra-right wing fools are saying that we need a revolution. Well lets go back to 1776 and see if this period of time passes the test.

First, can churches meet? Yes, they can. The state supreme Court of Calif. said so recently and presto: people are back inside and out of the parking lot.

Second, do we have the right to vote for representation in Congress? Yes we do.

Third, can we still bear arms? Yes, we can.

Fourth, can we invoke the 5th Amendment in court? Yes, we can.

Fifth, have you had to quarter soldiers in your home lately? No, you haven't.

Sixth, can you peaceably meet and demonstrate and speak your views? Yes, you can.

I could go on and on ... anyone trying to liken this period of time to that of 1776 is an idiot. I even question the right of the Colonists to revolt from England. Its a topic I love to talk about.

But this is not the time to revolt. Its time to distance yourself from ultra right-wing radicals who are bent on trying to get a civil war started.

Don't even start me on the left wing radicals either. All of last year we saw them destroying downtown areas, we saw the "No-Wing" anarchists trying to cause civil disorder on a major scale (I speak of the "no-org" called Antifa) and finally looters who capitalize on the riots ....

But what’s shocking is how many morons believe what he says.
There’s nothing wrong with being a Republican and conservative. But there’s a problem being a moron.

ClassicCarTunes: Ok, so if we go on this assumption:

On the 6th of January, Trump was talking about having them assemble peacefully at the Capital. You have to read his entire speech to get that. He never incited them to violence. In fact he said to do it peacefully.

But the problem with Trump was he didn't understand WHO he was dealing with. And he left Mike Pence hung out to dry. He also failed to realize that that group only had a permit to meet where they were currently at.

Then he sat back and let it unfold. Rather than take action he did nothing.

--------end of assumption--------

Now we know from the transcript that he told them to uphold law and order. However, if anyone believes that Trump thought that that was all they were going to do ... I have some swampland to sell you in Idaho.

It would be the same if I addressed a group of gang members in a major city and told them to go downtown and protest police brutality.

What is amazing is that seven Republicans voted to impeach Trump knowing that they would not get enough votes to do so. They were a mix of courageous and stupid. Knowing how powerful Trump is, even if he didn't have a dime to his name, he will will back the other Republican candidates in the midterm elections.

In the end they backed an impeachment article that was incorrect to run with. Result:

Donald Trump 2 - Nancy Pelosi - 0 (meaning two failed impeachments)

Remember: Pres. Biden was not really for the impeachment seeing it more of a nuisance than something that would really convict Trump. Compare this impeachment vote with that of "Tricky Dick" Nixon. Its not even close. Most of the Republican party voted to impeach Nixon ...

Now that the Democrats are back in power in two branches of government we all get to toss darts at them now. They think that the more they keep Pres. Trump in the spotlight the less they will be seen. The problem is that there is this thing called The Press and they are vultures looking for a story. They will devour Democrat and Republican alike (Cuomo being the latest).

KeithJ: well "You got to fight like Hell" ,,,but I never seen him say "peacfully" in those speeches. and in telling the proud boys "stand down and stand by" he knew very well what the proud boys were all about and to tell them that kind of thing and not some thing more assertive to STOP it or even to discredit a group of that nature well does send a message in their minds , I thought Trump said at one time " I am a very smart guy I have abrain" if that is all the case alone besides things of the past then Kasich was the better one to nominate .

ClassicalCarTunes, I agree to you on the stupidity and impracticality of the insurrection.

You do have to understand though, that it didn’t start with Trump’s one speech. You have to listen to the far-right a bit. And also imagine yourself in Trump’s position.

The hype was before the speech. There were far right groups with their gears ready. I’m unconvinced that the President of the United States was so dizzily unaware of this. Yet he gave that mixed message speech.

Sure you can claim he threw in the word ‘peaceful’ in it, but are we going to ignore the rest of the hyped talk.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t feel to flip out and trash a room when listening to Sinatra. Heavy metal perhaps. So if Trump gave such a soothing peace loving speech as so many say, why did so many people feel hyped to trash and storm the Capitol? Why did each person involved (regular folks included) felt they were doing Trump’s bidding?

Propaganda works in this way. Trump is aware of the backlash if he openly states to storm the Capitol and intimidate the process. So he worked it out that way.

Now if in my mind I felt cheated and cornered, with one last perceived option left. For my Vice President and Co to be intimidated into action. With an ego as Trump, it will be done in that exact manner.

If Trump was unaware and suddenly became clueless, why didn’t he join the march on the Capitol as he lead others to believe?

You can either be satisfied with the obscure shell of an explanation or really see that this doesn’t add up, and when something does not add up, mate, it tends to be a lie.

ClassicCarTunes: Former Pres. Trump OFTEN speaks without thinking. And yes, it was pretty pathetic the position he left our lawmakers in. No orders for the FBI to get out there and help. Sad ... He was the WORST President we ever had. Not the best as he and his fanatical followers like to make him out to be. No way would I approve his mug on Mt. Rushmore. I mean, how "self-serving" was that!

Trump should have been pulled out of the white house in handcuffs. i have no sympathy for him or his family. i am an adult military brat of 18 years. the cops should have used lethal force. once they saw the crowd they should have called for help. in fact, any leader who heard his words should have alerted the national guard as soon as this so called rally started.
