Angry Beaver: How stupid is Donald?:

April 25, 2020, 4:51 AM AEST
By Carol E. Lee, Kristen Welker and Monica Alba

WASHINGTON — Members of President Donald Trump’s coronavirus task force and aides in the West Wing were shocked on Thursday when he promoted the use of light and disinfectant to treat the deadly respiratory illness, according to administration officials.

As Trump went off script to suggest people with the virus could be cured by UV rays or disinfectants “by injection inside,” White House officials began texting one another to ask where he got that idea because they thought, as one adviser put it, “this was going to be bad.”

None of them seemed to know, as Trump did not consult with any task force members or administration officials before making his impromptu statement, which has now been universally rejected by health experts, the officials said.

Instead, it appears Trump conflated and misinterpreted scientific information discussed with him in the Oval Office before Thursday’s daily briefing, according to the officials.
Trump suggests light and disinfectant treatments for coronavirus
April 24, 202002:34

During the meeting some advisers — including the acting undersecretary for science and technology, Bill Bryan — shared with the president some new but promising information about testing that’s been done on coronavirus, officials said. It included a discussion about how the virus is killed on surfaces with disinfectants and on hands with soap or sanitizer and studies about the effectiveness of light, temperature and humidity, as well as a mention of treatments for various conditions such as radiation, officials said.

The plan was to stress during the daily White House coronavirus briefing that disinfectants should be used on surfaces, but then “the president took it a couple steps further,” one administration official said.

“It was totally ad-libbed,” the official said, adding, it was “off-the-cuff.”

This is in response to something I read on davidk1’s thread where I will no longer post anything at all for obvious reasons. Sandra and kitty still post there and experience david’s abuse but I have already invited them to post on my thread where such things do not happen. So far, they haven’t accepted my offer but whenever they wish to post in a more congenial setting, they are welcome here since I enjoy reading their posts whenever I see them. Frankly, my thread would only benefit by their presence so I hope they take me up on my offer. Anyway.....this is in response to something that Gram said there. This is my take on it, and you can judge for yourself as to its accuracy and veracity:

I find it interesting that Gram believes that Trump was “joking” about injecting bleach along with prolonged exposure to sunlight as a treatment for Covid-19. Maybe she wanted to give him the benefit of the doubt but that is giving Trump way to much credit for being “witty.” I have never heard Trump use irony or wit to his advantage because he has no sense of humor that would enable him to exhibit genuine “wit.” In fact, since Trump has the mentality and disposition of an adolescent as a former teacher of high school students I have found this particular attribute—irony and self deprecating humor—-absent in most of them. Adolescents are adept at cruel jokes at other’s expense and Trump shares this trait with them. He is happiest when his insults and jibes inflict suffering and as an example, look at his “humor” directed at women, which is both cruel and degrading. He is frightened of joking about Nancy Pelosi because she stands up to him and is not intimidated by him at all. This is contrary to his expectations which is that most women are too weak to fight back but Pelosi, to her credit, gives as good as she gets. Like many sadists Trump relishes seeing his enemies suffer and being the President and having the bully pulpit only gives him more confidence that most people are reluctant to fight back and he interprets this as a sign of his personal “greatness” when in fact it only confirms the idea that he is a bully and a coward. He is too obtuse and arrogant to see it any other way. His excuse that he was "only joking" is what cowards and bullies ALWAYS say when such humor backfires on them. Trump always claims that he was "only joking" when he says such things but while his supporters usually buy this excuse the media and the rest of us know better: he's done it before and only walks back such comments when they provoke a firestorm of controversy and disgust. However, as has been pointed out in the past, its important to watch what Trump DOES instead of focusing on what he SAYS. Actions speak louder than words and that has never been more true than when assessing Donald Trump's behavior. Its a point worth remembering because Trump uses an old magician's trick known as "misdirection." That is, while he is SAYING something characteristically stupid, he is DOING something far more dangerous and nefarious. Sometimes, the media falls for this trick; other times, they call him out on it. I think this is one of those times.

Trump’s “humor" is predicated on cruelty and inflicting pain on other people. He lacks not only wit, but also, the ability to take a joke at his own expense. He is vengeful by nature and refuses to forgive such humor, especially from those he perceives as his enemies. Trump has never forgiven Obama's jokes about him, made at an awards dinner or some other fund raising affair but the jokes were witty and innocuous although Trump at the time was clearly outraged and displeased with Obama's witty repartee which he can barely understand much less emulate. Still, on that particular occasion the arrow surely hit its mark and he was NOT pleased at all.

Therefore, in this particular instance, Gram has given Trump way too much credit and given his staggering ignorance of the physical sciences such a gaffe seems quite likely and in keeping with his brand of inane and spiteful “humor.” I find it credible that he is stupid enough to float such theories given his propensity for saying such things in the past. Consequently, I think Gram was being way too kind and forgiving because that IS her nature much to her credit too, I might add.

Much as I expected, David simply cannot resist reading what I post here, which, interestingly enough, is just the same accusation that he aimed at Sandra. The beauty of it is that I no longer have to ingest the absolute CRAP that he posts from the Right Wing fascist pig press outlets he takes as being the gospel truth.

As for his assertion that I am a "puppet," well, I could say the same thing to him which, in fact, is quite true. If David is stupid enough to engage me on this level, then I invite him to try. I actually thought that once I decided NOT to suffer his abuse any more and not post there I thought it would stop. Apparently, I was mistaken in my assumption. However, I give as good as I get and my wit and erudition are a match for the drivel he likes to post for his drones who worship Trump like the petty autocrat he is but that sort of thing won't fly HERE where I WON'T delete anyone's post just because they have contravened the "party line" which does not exist here but which is SOP in David's thread.

Personally, I think it galls him to realize that now, there is a counterpoint to his demented ravings on this thread contradicting what a "god" his rat bastard of a president really is. I relish the thought of the November elections when the people of this country will send this archetypical degenerate back to what he does best: swindling people ("Trump University" and fucking starlets (Stormy Daniels, among many others) , much to his trophy wife's dismay.

Hey, David, you can kiss my ass--that is, if you can disengage from kissing the oversized ass of a "president" whose favorite past time is not running the country but rather, watching TV news SEVEN HOURS A DAY while scarfing down junk food and ranting to an empty White House about how "unfair" the "fake news" really is. Well, I like to counter that charge with my own charge of "junk science" which is about all the science Trump knows or understands. Jeez, I've seen things lying on a slab in the morgue with more knowledge of science than this benighted numbskull possesses.

Thanks for posting here, Sandra. I promise to respect your posts and not to delete ANYTHING that contradicts my own views; that's exactly what I want to avoid. David's thread contains abuse which, when I witness it--especially if its directed at you---is particularly distressing to me personally. I think you---and anybody who posts here---deserve much better treatment and people can digress as much as they like because, actually, the digressions can be just as interesting and entertaining as the ones that stay on topic. I am not about to delete something just because It digresses because, as they say, "Digression is the soul of wit," so if digressions is your pleasure--then feel free to do so.

Thanks for posting and I hope to see more of it from you and the other people who appreciate a more open and flexible forum for airing their views. I am many things but a strict and fanatical ideologue am NOT. I would like people to know that from the outset.

If he WAS a cheerleader, does that mean that he wore a dress with cute little pompoms?
Maybe I should give him a new nickname: "Girlyman," which pretty much sums up the whole idea.

Thanks for calling me an egotist, David...that's clearly a projection of what you really think about yourself, but I wouldn't expect you to understand the complexities of human psychology: your "wit" by calling me an ECHOTIST is about what I'd expect from a man who worships Trump, whose verbal facility and wit is on par with that of a grade school child. Intellectuality has never been Trump's strong suit but what else could you expect from a man who avoids reading anything more taxing than the label on a condiment bottle and who thinks that Frederick Douglass is STILL alive and from whom, we are told, we have been hearing "great things" lately? The mind boggles at such appalling ignorance. We will be hearing "great things" from Frederick Douglass, eh? Not bad for a man who's been dead for nearly a century!

I'd go on trading insults with you, David, but that requires genuine WIT and since you are handicapped enough to legitimately be termed a "half-wit," it would be an unfair match. You'd be about as much use in such a competition as a one-legged man in a butt kicking contest.

Have great day, David. Next time you engage in a battle of wits with me, try coming armed with something more than your withered dick in your hand.

Thanks for telling me what I think; unless you have a crystal ball or telepathic powers, how do you know WHAT the hell I think? That's been one of the most aggravating things about you, david: you ASSUME things that simply are not true and you know what they say about people who assume what they can only guess at, don't you?

When you assume something, you make an ASS out of U and ME.

Angry Beaver
Angry Beaver: Found this online on Trump stopping his press briefings....well put, I thought

"Whatever you think about Donald, this is just insane. To be the head of state, giving important (in theory) updates to a country that is in crisis, and then shutting down in a temper tantrum because you get criticism.
What the actual fuck is wrong with you, this is your fucking job, to keep your country and people safe.

People are dying, Frontline workers are so over worked they are passing out at work, the economy is crashing, but still people keep fighting to get out of this mess.

Sort out your shit and start helping your people you useless ballsack. I hope you get jail time for bailing on your country during a pandemic, you coward.

If anyone wonder, I wish he was nowhere close to power, but that's the situation, and he need to own up to his bullshit and start to prioritize expert advice and the people over his own damn ego."

Thanks, Beaver.....the article says it all and not too bluntly either. Then again, Trump has no tact whatsoever which means that your criticism of him—which is justly condemnatory—-is more than justified, as the article points out,
.

I appreciate you sending it and you, too, for you are one of the most consistently interesting and well informed people to post here. I vowed NEVER AGAIN to post on david’s thread and I plan on keeping that resolution. I hope more people post here; why they insist on posting on a thread where they are roundly abused seems counterproductive but that’s their choice which I respect but can no longer emulate.

Anyway, thanks again for the post, mate, it is greatly appreciated.

chronology
chronology: Whooaaa Echo, don't shoot me here, but in some ways I can see where Mr Trump is coming from.
Oscar Wild said 'in matters of real inportance it is style not facts that count'.

But after a while even the public become tired of admiring the fashionable clothes and hair styles of the White House Press staff. The facts in this crisis are all disputed, but the changing dress and hair styles of the White House folks is what is talked about by TV viewers around the world. People were always trying to see if Mr Obama was in front of a Blue Screen, or if Hilary really was Hilary or a double. It is all just style in the end.

Like I said, the facts in this crisis are like jello on a train table, wobbling and shivering all over the place. But will Mr Trump be wearing his expensive watch?.
