I was under the impression that the "Q" anon stuff was just the crackpot ravings of some fringe lunatics whose paranoia has gone completely off the rails. I can understand why they might be suspicious of what they call "opinion journalism," but everybody knows that every media outlet is biased in one direction or another, but after looking into the "Q" material, these appear to be the same people who think the moon landing was a hoax and that all vaccinations are part of a nefarious plot to render us impotent and powerless against the government, which, to them, is the absolute pinnacle of all evil. It gets worse, but I don't have the patience to itemize all their brands of lunacy Suffice it to say that this sort of conspiracy obsession is endemic now and the question really ought to be is this: WHY are people so addicted to crackpot conspiracy theories? Is it the influence of Trump and his insanity about the "deep state"? Or does it indicate some bizarre new social pathology whose appeal seems to be that it offers facile and easy explanations for the complexities of a world that they find simply too terrifying in which to live ? I have spent considerable time thinking about this and I think the latter explanation is closer to the truth than not. Rather than using logic and empirically derived evidence from the facts, some people simply chalk it up to the idea that its ALL one vast, labyrinthine conspiracy because its easier and more comfortable to embrace than the uncomfortable and laborious task of simply looking for the truth which, as Mr. Poe has correctly pointed out, is not always necessarily hidden in a deep, dark well. Sometimes, its right there staring you in the face---if you have the patience, the brains and the tenacity to dig for it. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. The rest of it sounds very much like a form of controlled insanity which serves some deep and dark emotional or psychological need that I simply cannot and never will share.
