John Adams dropped it to 4. It went back to 5 under Thomas Jefferson. As the country grew they added more Justices reaching 10 under Abraham Lincoln. With an act of Congress in 1869 and establishing circut courts across the country the Supreme Court has been at 9 members since then. Fred Smith the founder and Chairman of FED EX was on Meet the Press a few weeks ago and he came out in support of the vaccine mandate saying it made good business sense. He also said the infrastruture bill mad good business sense. Fred Smith is a strong Republican here in Memphis TN. Trump will probably call him a Rino for agreeing on something with the Democrats.
