Hey Chrono. It's me, davidk14. I had dropped out after the midterms. I came back as someone that had reinvented himself. I am still a conservative. Hope all is well for you.

SandraL57: chronology with all due respect, I have known he was Davidk14 since
he came back after the midterms. He was pretty upset after the
Nov 2018 elections in the USA where the dems took over the house.
I can spot the old boy 3000 miles away. I love DavidK14. He was one of
my favorite people on wire. I know his humor, and I thought he knew mine better. Some times I wonder. I know when his mother passed away.....he told me........he knows when my mother passed away I told him. I don't know if he
remembers all that. Sometimes I really do wonder if he had a stroke..... I was messaged by other chatters that he passed away of a heart attack. And I actually believed that person. And I was actually really upset. That pisses me off

chronology: Well I never thought he died. David was saying how he lost a lot of weight on some diet and health activity course he had taken. I thought he was into his classic American cars he loves and was out dating again. He is not merried so he is not tied down.

I could imagine him driving around his old haunts in San Francisco in a classic 60s car, wooing the ladies and having a fine old time. Like many Americans just forgetting the world and it's endless disputes and having fun.

Chrono,

Thanks for the nice comments. Yes, you and I have been on wire for a while. Rabbit88, OutbackJack, StickInTheSixties, oh boy, did we all have some discussions back then, even the moderators had to come in a cool things down. Rabbit is still not allowed back. Wow. I bet the archives would be fun to sort through sometime.

I did lose the weight and I struggle every day to keep it off. I turn 66 by the end of this year, things are changing for me.

I had 3 heart stints placed about 7 years ago and my heart is super strong for my age with the last BP being 123 over 75 and pulse at 68 which the doctor said was awesome, so that is not an issue right now.

However, I tore my medicus in my left knee playing volleyball in sand [trying to relive my decades old athletic ability] a while back and after consultations with a surgeon, my primary doctor family and friends, I decided to stop working completely and retire completely and so no need for the surgery. Right now, I technically am still employed but haven't worked since June. Good points and bad points to that. Employer doesn't want me to leave and might create a job description for me which at best is a 50/50. Time will tell.

Still love the old cars of the 60's and early '70's. Wish I had bought one and put it on blocks for 4-5 decades. One of my favorites...

Chrono, San Francisco is not what it used to be. SF was my beautiful city by the bay.

This is how I remember her....[Journey - Lights 1978]

SF for a number of years now has a horrible and dangerous homeless issue right now, many if not most of the conventions have gone elsewhere....its that bad. I was there visiting my mother and it was horrible to see how 3rd world country it had become. You can even find maps on the internet where the most poop is on the street and where not to go. SF Sanitation Dept has a poop patrol that goes out daily to scrape the human feces off the sidewalks and streets. Sickening. Hate to even bring it up but it is what it is. Horrible.

Mom passed just short of two years ago at the age of 92.

Everything changes. Times passes. People pass, babies are born. By second daughter is pregnant and (1) baby is going to be coming...um....soon. They said they will let me know. She is having a C-section due to health complications she had previous due to a bladder and kidney issue. She's great and everyone is happy. Her first son who is now 5 can't wait for his baby brother.

I ate some sushi and got sick last week and was in bed most of the time. I almost crawled to the doctors office.

I have a doggie and her name is Mimi. She's a Shih Tzu and just 2.5 years old. She's awesome.

Well, enough for now, Sandi is getting bored.

Thanks for reading. Many times folks don't read and just skim at best. Chat soon and thanks again Chrono for the kind memories.

chronology: Great to hear you are well David Old Chap. And best wishes to your beloved daughter.
I had thoughts of you driving across the beautiful Golden Gate Bridge at sunset with a lady companion in one of your classic cars.
San Francisco is still the world's most loved city, but hey even the great city of Paris France has homeless folks.

Great to read you are still on wire. Am sure other folks were wondering about you as well.

Thanks, but other than you, I have not heard or seen anyone from the old days.

I have driven across the GG with the love of my life many times. We would also park and neck under the GG at Fort Point which is under the S-side of the bridge. Spent many an evening there watching the ocean, the bridge, the cities of Sausalito, Tiburon and Alcatraz, and just enjoy the time. Ahhhhh, if you ever are able to go onto Google Earth, you can see exactly what I saw, so many times. Also many memories fishing on the pier nearby with my dad when I was younger. He passed in '72.

With my mother, father, brother all gone, I alone have those wonderful memories of decades past of fishing, camping, just enjoying that life I led. Good times.

But you know folks, in a 1000 years, no one will even know.

Our song back then....

Listening to it right now. I miss you Cathie.

Naw, just feelin a bit old today...you know what I mean. Some days....

Since I have had time on my hands, I have done research on tons of different things. Like....

There are billions of stars in our galaxy.

The closest star to us is 4.24 light years away.

At a maximum velocity of approx 56,000 mph, it would take over 81,000 years to traverse the 4.24 light years between Earth and Proxima Centauri. To put that time-scale into perspective, that would be over 2,700 human generations.

So that is the one closest star. There are billions of starts in our galaxy.

Our Galaxy is about 100,000 light years across or it would take to cross our galaxy....hold on....67.5 million human generations.

Ok...Our visual universe had trillions of galaxies with billions of stars in each one.

The light from one of these galaxies is just hitting us now

The Andromeda Galaxy (M31) is the closest spiral galaxy to us and 2 million light years away.

Yep...the light we see from Andromeda today started 2 million years ago.
