In the last 10 years or so, their warnings of inflation and a bond market collapse due to quantitative easing or any stimulus programs have, once again, proven false. While Europe tried what the Republicans insisted we do, specifically tightening the money supply , we made the money supply more available to prime the pump. What happened was that many European countries faced high unemployment and draconian government cutbacks in essential services.You might call it a death spiral... until the European Central Bank started pumping money into the banking system. That's why our economy is better off than theirs. Thankfully, Obama wasn't cowed into doing the same as Europe. And then there is this insane notion by the Rand Paul types that we go back to the gold standard. Again, these idiots know little about economics and only need to look back in history and see that when we were on the gold standard, our currency went on an unstable roller coaster ride.That's why we hopped off of gold. One just needs to look at the past several years to see the volatility in the price of gold to figure that out.
