He quit the cozy safe federal job out of sheer boredom. Mike said he never had to worry about job security or actually producing a new product. Ohio. well you will find the vast majority of U.S. Civil Servants are overworked professionals who could earn a lot more in the Private Sector. Most Civil Servants work for the Government out of the old Roman Tradition of 'Service to the State is the highest calling a person could answer' . Their jobs are also anything but 'cosy' , often dealing with people who are very stressed. People demanding Passports so as to visit sick relatives, hearing the explanations of folks who insist they cannot pay their Taxes on time, chasing up lost Welfare Payments for folks with no money at all. These folks are stressed, and most likely unlike the people respectable Civil Servants have contact with in their lives. But hey, out of regard for their country, fine people work for the Government. U.S. Servicemen and women also often pass over big pay packets offered by Private Contractors because they love their country and would rather earn less serving the Stars and Stripes. If you are earning 70.000 dollars a year working for the U.S. Navy, and some Oil Rig Operators offer you 300.000 dollars a year to work for them Tax Free some where far off. It is tempting. But for the fine men and women of the U.S. Armed Forces, their hearts are with their country, more than with full Bank Accounts. briansmythe: Higher calling shore people were lucky to work in administration in the Roman Empire . It was all family connectors . They didn't just apply . Better than being fed to to lions to entertain those with this supposed higher calling. And any one who joins the Services signs a contract they own you for how ever many years you give up your rights as an American citizen . You cant just leave . They can even use you for Experiments without your knowledge. Like there done before. Yes Ohio I know someone who did Engineering through the railways they would clock each other off at 9 am he never leart anything. Not saying all these agencies don't do good work . Government Staff are hurting with no paycheques. A sad photograph showed one IRS Trainee who is reduced to cutting Meds in half because she cannot afford her Prescriptions.
